Two large Italian clubs received huge injury news today as they sought to climb up the Serie A
table.
Juventus star and striker Vincent Iaquinta revealed today that he has a torn meniscus and will
have surgery on his knee Tuesday. He injured it during training Saturday and did not play this
Sunday against Siena.

Juventus v Fiorentina Saturday 17 October 2009 Stadio Olimpico Serie A 18:00 CET
Juventus haven't won a game in several weeks and are desperately searching for the form that their
talented squad and pre-season expectations demanded. They face in-form Fiorentina, who beat
Liverpool in the Champions League recently, and will be hoping that home advantage counts in their
favor.
Poulsen, Camoranesi, De ceglie e Marrone.
Juventus are about to rekindle their interest in Liverpool's Javier Mascherano for next summer's
transfer window. According to Il Corriere Dello Sport, the Bianconeri are drawing up early plans for the winter, but
the idea is likely to materialise later on next year. The report suggests Mascherano had considered leaving the Reds during the summer for Spanish giants
Barcelona, but the move never took off the ground. Click to continue reading...
Sorry I didn't get up a weekend round-up yesterday, it was a really busy day. However I don't
want to disrupt the weekly order so I'll go straight to Goals of the Week. Last week was probably
the worst goals of the week post of all time. I think this week made up for it with some quality
strikes.
Look at this showdown yesterday between Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich) and Felipe Melo
(Juventus). Clearly the Brazilian won, because the Dutchman had to leave early injured. Click to continue reading...
The Champions League showdown between Bayern Munich and Juventus ended in a scoreless draw,
proving very little for either side. But Arjen Robben did leave after 45 minutes with an
injury.
The lesson? Never get in a staring contest with Felipe Melo.
Arsenal Holdings, PLC just released a summary of the financial results for last season. It all
seems to be good news, and it sounds like the club improved in pretty much every financial category
over 2007-2008:
Overall income increased to £313.3 million from £223.0 million the year before, largely due to
deep cup runs and increased merchandise sales Overall matchday/ticket revenue increased to £100.
To be honest, it fucking bores me. Have you ever watched paint dry? Read a phone book from start to finish? Read this blog? Watched
Arsenal under George Graham? Listened to a Spud going on about top four finishes? It's all boring stuff but none of it bores me as much as the Brede Hangeland link. Click to continue reading...
Click to continue reading...
September 16, 2009 Stade de Gerland, Lyon 2:45 PM ET (20:45 CET, 19:45 GMT)
Match Background:
I was sorely tempted to copy and paste what I wrote about Fiorentina last year, simply because
their squad hasn't gone through any drastic changes since then.
indossare i panni europei.
Click to continue reading...
The latest Serie A season is now three games in and although it is of course too early to make
any firm predictions, some clear markers have already been laid down. Before the close of the
window it was Juventus who took the lead as the big spenders in Italy, bringing in a number of
players to strengthen the squad, not least of all the Brazilian Diego from Werder Bremen for
£21.
Don't know about you gals, but at Kickette HQ, the past week has been excruciatingly craptastic;
the one thing we were excited about was the Juventus display of machismo we were able to put
together for your viewing pleasure.
Soz for the tardiness but let's rise above like Vicky B's breasts and get on with it, shall
we?

We only wished for Nilmar to start against Chile.... and mano went on
to score a hat trick against them last night! Daaaamn, tipo over here is
keeping track, ya'll. On hindsight, 4-2 isn't the perfect score but what else can we say to Nilmar
except muito obrigada?
After setting up Chile's first goal by conceding a penalty kick with a blatant trip just before
halftime, Felipe Melo was shown a straight red early in the second half of Brazil's eventual 4-2
for planting his boot square in Alexis Sanchez's crotch.
If it doesn't seem so bad at first, the multiple, slow motion replays should get across the
testicle smashing horror of his actions.
With Brazil qualified to the World Cup, the match against Chile was going to be important for 2
reasons: 1)add another victory to the incredible sequence of 18 undefeated matches; 2) test new
players to join the group of 23 going to South Africa.
Tonight, Brazil take on Chile in the estádio de Pituaçu in Salvador in the 16th round of the
World Cup qualifiers.
This could be the time for Dunga to give some of his squad members a run out as Brazil have
already qualified for South Africa and the coach is without a number of first teamers.
A headed goal by Luisão and a brace from LuÃs Fabiano earned Brazil a deserved 3-1 against
Argentina in Rosario. Dátolo scored Argentina's consolation goal. This was Argentina's first home
defeat in 41 matches. The result ensured Dunga's team a place in the World Cup finals in South
Africa next year with three rounds to spare.
Kaká, Dunga and Adriano ponder tonight's clash with Argentina
Brazil head to Argentina today knowing that a win could see them qualify for next year's World
Cup in South Africa. Dunga's men need the three points in the estádio Gigante in Rosario and
require Colombia to beat Ecuador in Medellin earlier in the day.
So it's Day 2 of the Soldados Bootcamp and they're already bullying Robinho! Anyway, the
manos did field work yesterday while Daniel Alves, Luisão, Ramires and
Elano were immediately sent to the gym upon arrival. Muito grave, indeed!
