If there's one undeniable strength of the USA's bid to host the 2018 or 2022 World Cups, it's our
stadiums. You want big facilities? We got 'em. Lots of 'em. There are enough venues in this country
to host three World Cups at the same time. With the US bid due next May, today the committee
narrowed the list of potential venues down to 32 stadiums in 27 markets.

For the second time in club history, D.C. United faces Real Madrid this afternoon at FedEx
Field. The first meeting between the two teams in 2006, saw a 1-1 draw at Qwest Field in Seattle in
front of 68,000 fans. Today's match - which kicks-off at 3 p.m. - is expected to have over 70,000.

After browsing the Allsvenskan fixtures earlier today, it struck me that there are no less than
five derbies in the upcoming round. The derby on Saturday between AIK and Brommapojkarna will most
certainly be the most interesting match and of course it's one that I have carefully planned my
entire weekend around.

The summer soccer season got even more appealing with the news that Real Madrid will be playing
D.C. United on August 9th at FedEx Field in suburban Maryland.
The game will be played at the Washington Redskins' stadium, FedEx Field, rather than United's
usual home at RFK Stadium. To make room for the match, United is moving their previously scheduled
MLS game against the Kansas City Wizards to Sept.
