This week's episode focuses on the title races across Europe, with the first stop being the
Premier League title race and the United v Chelsea game. Manchester United gave a strong showing at
Stamford Bridge on Sunday, possibly one of their best performances at the Bridge post-Ranieri and
despite the defeat all signs point to an open, three-way title race.
Castillion In the olden days, Feyenoord or Ajax delivered the top guns for Oranje. Moulijn, Swart,
Keizer, Van Hanegem, Jansen, Cruyff, Krol... After a while, PSV started to mingle and around the
1980s we saw AZ, FC Twente and other clubs offering up their talents. With Huntelaar out of form,

their manager's transfer-based desires, which include the 22-year-old Dutch midfielder Eljero Elia,

it still is busy for us here in Buenos Aires and as long as we get the listings posted by Friday
evening, we feel we're doing pretty well and we hope that everything is here in time to do you some
good.

That my friends was the goal of the night and the fourth for Arsenal against AZ Alkmaar. The
football recently played by Arsenal is nothing short of phenomenal, offensively of course.
I might be a bit premature in saying this, but with our Champion's League hopes hanging by a
thread, I was looking at the B competition, The Europa League. In it you have some of the powerhouses of European football such as Stum Graz, FC Sheriff, Fc
Twente, Bate, Dinamo Zagreb, Austria Vienna and other Luminaries of the game! Click to continue reading...
We're back in the United States for the week while club football returns to action around the
world. All of the top clubs were in action this past weekend and most of them play twice in the
coming week, so we are back in full force.
The volatility that marked the past few weeks in the rankings has slowed down this week, though
top-ranked Chelsea did manage to lose to Aston Villa to give up its place at the top spot both in
the Premiership and the rankings.
Marquee battles in each of Europe's top leagues and a loaded schedule of important MLS tilts
headline a busy Saturday of soccer action.
Early birds will be able to watch Aston Villa take on Chelsea on ESPN2, while those sleeping in
can still wake up and catch Juventus-Fiorentina, Hamburg-Bayer Leverkusen and Valencia

This season's Champions League and Europa League has its usual cast of superstars such as
Cristiano Ronaldo and Franck Ribery but I wanted to feature a few names that I think you'll be
hearing a lot more about as the January transfer window approaches.
1) Miralem Pjanic midfielder Olympique Lyonnais The "new Juninho" (pictured above) has actually lived up to the moniker thus far.
With a thrilling week of World Cup qualifying action behind us, international club soccer will
once again take center stage this weekend as players change their focus from national teams to club
teams.
There is no shortage of marquee match-ups, whether in England, Spain or MLS, which is winding up
its regular season with some crucial playoff-impacting tilts.
The United States won the Hexagonal with twenty points, while Mexico gave the best accounting in
the second half of the competition, gaining 13 points out of a possible 15 after August. Honduras
qualifies for the first time since 1982 (When the World Cup was a 24 team competition), and Costa
Rica can feel hard done with 16 points yet being forced into a playoff with Uruguay.
Now that was the best tie I've ever watched. Down early 2-0 the US fought back hard to earn a tie
in the final seconds of the game, keeping the US at the top of the table and pushing Honduras into
the World Cup. Bornstien scores as heard on Honduran radio. Two nations exploded with sound as, Bornstien's head hit the ball and sent it bouncing into the
bottom corner of the net. Click to continue reading...

Cheer Up Alan Shearer's Top 10 Football Moments 9. Schteeeeeeve McLaren talks jibberish No-one really blamed Steve McLaren for moving abroad after the wally-brolly failure of England to
qualify for Euro 2008. In a path trodden by his one of his predecessors, Bobby Robson, the
ex-England boss ran to the relative safety of the Eredivisie after his international experiences to
take charge of little known FC Twente. Click to continue reading...
This weekend (Labor Day Weekend here in the May-Day-Hating United States) signals the end of the
Summer. Â The other thing that always signals the end of Summer for me is the closing of the
transfer window. Â It's done now, but not before we squeezed in two last signings. Â I meant to
post this a few days ago, but better late than never:
FC Twente have captured Perparim Hetemaj from AEK Athens FC
in a swap deal that takes Dutch midfielder Youssouf Hersi from the Netherlands to the Greek
capital.
Mario Been didn't know whether to laugh or cry. His club had just secured a draw at home against
rival FC Twente, with a late equalizer by Roy Makaay. The veteran sub kept his head cool to convert
the questionable penalty kick awarded by a shonky leading Roel Luinge. It was Click to continue reading...

Former winners Celtic are amongst a number of big name teams already fighting for their lives in
this season's UEFA Champions League.
Celtic travel to Russia desperate to overturn a 1-0 deficit, but with opponents Dinamo Moscow on
a fine run of form, defender Gary Caldwell knows it will take something special to emerge
victorious.
Trailing Sporting Lisbon 1-0 from the first leg in the Champions League qualifier, Steve McLaren's
FC Twente got off to the perfect start this evening in the second leg, when Douglas headed them
into the lead in the second minute of the match. However, with the tie all square and well into injury time, Sporting got a corner and up came their
goalkeeper Rui Patricio, who's header took deflections off two Twente defenders before finding its
way into the bottom corner of the net, to the absolute delight of Sporting and despair for Twente
and McLaren. Click to continue reading...

The most fun we had at the corner flag last year was poking fun at Chelsea's Jose Bosingwa for
losing his composure and going all Karate Kid into Yossi Benayoun's back. But forget that unibrowed very expensive, dirty cheater and let's focus on the Dutch Eredivisie's

What do you do when a defender has backed you all the way up to the corner flag, and you have no
where to go? In this game between Sparta Rotterdam and FC Twente at the weekend, in the first round of
Eredivisie matches, rather than the Sparta forward just kicking it against the defender and out for
a throw or corner, he gets his team mate to remove the offending corner flag so that he can cross
the ball in. Click to continue reading...
