Stoke City | News | Latest News | Latest News | Etherington Boost For The Potters STOKE CITY have
received a major boost ahead of their Europa League tie against FC Thun . . . with the news that
winger Matthew Etherington should be available for the game in Switzerland after tests revealed no
serious damage to his left arm.
Following their 0-0 draw at the Brittania on Sunday, Stoke manager Tony Pulis and Chelsea boss
Andre Villas-Boas have been in a war of words. The new Chelsea manager has accused Stoke of being
too physical, and Pulis has once again jumped to the defense of his resilient side.
"This big Stoke team was actually outmatched by Chelsea at the end.
After drawing 2-2 in the first leg in Palermo, the Rosanero made the trip to Switzerland knowing
that they would need a win against FC Thun in order to guarantee a spot in the next round of the
Europa League. The club was hoping to avoid another repeat of the Mladá Boleslav debacle from a
few years earlier when Palermo crashed out very early in the UEFA Cup against the minnows from the
Czech.
