It was reported yesterday by Barcaloco.com that Lionel Messi would be taking home the UEFA
Footballer of the Year award and it was confirmed today in Monaco. Messi also won the UEFA forward
of the year for his great performance in Champions League play last season with nine goals.

season's finalists face some tough going but they are not alone in that regard. FC Barcelona will

Former Russian Premier League champions Zenit St Petersburg are on the verge of capturing Torino
captain Alessandro Rosina for seven million euros.
The departure of single-capped Italian international Rosina, born on 31 January 1984, had been
expected due to Torino's plunge into Serie B.
Zenit currently stand in sixth position and Dick Advocaat affirmed his side's necessity to step

winning their first seven matches, the club set a Russian Premier League record. No club had ever
achieved the mark of seven straight to begin a campaign.
In their eight match, Rubin Kazan finally were defeated by visiting side Spartak Moscow 3-0.
