confidence for their matches against Standard Liège.

Why aren't you sitting down in front of your television? Because today has plenty of wonderful
football action on the TV. Like right now for example Manchester United is about to battle hosting
side Valencia on FSN at 2:45 PM. And if you missed it earlier today Barcelona dropped points
against FC Rubin Kazan in a 1-1 draw proving that any result is possible in the UEFA Champions
League.
Hello again. It's been a long time since I've posted here. Life had taken me in some different
directions and I had settled into retirement from football punditry. As the cliche goes, old habits
are hard to break so here I am again for another Champions League season.
I plan to review each group in more detail before the group stages kick off on September 14.
Former Arsenal striker Eduardo will go up against his old club
The Champions League draw took place in Monaco and this is what it looks like:
Group A: Inter, Werder Bremen, Tottenham Hotspur, FC Twente
Group B: Lyon, Benfica, Schalke, Hapoel Tel Aviv
Group C: Manchester United , Valencia, Rangers, Bursaspor
Group D: Barcelona, Panathinaikos, Copenhagen, FC Rubin Kazan
Group E: Bayern Munich, Roma, FC Basel, CFR Cluj
Group F: Chelsea, Marseille, Spartak Moscow, MSK Zilina
Group G: AC Milan, Real Madrid, Ajax, Auxerre
Group H: Arsenal, Shakhtar Donetsk, SC Braga, FK Partizan
The Group of Death is definitely Group G which pits AC Milan in a rematch with Real with Dutch
runners up Ajax and French Ligue third placed Auxerre providing non-dismissible competition.
And it has been decided, the groups for the 2011 Champions League have been determined and if
you are Chelsea and Manchester United you have to be happy. AC Milan gets matched up with Real
Madrid and Spurs will have to contend with the Champions of Inter Milan. Barcelona probably have
the easiest run of it with anathinaikos, Copenhagen, Â and FC Rubin Kazan standing in their
way.
Two new boys would save the day for their La Liga squads in their second opening round match of
the Champions League.
For Barcelona, David Villa would net a second half equalizer via the penalty in the 60th minute.
The score that would draw the match even would come after FC Rubin Kazan took the advantage in the
first half on a penalty score as well.
Yes it's that time again and just like the rest of you I am pumped to see how the group stages
are going to play out. For the draw, the 32 teams are split into four seeding pots depending on
each club's coefficient. Every group will contain one team from each of the seeding pots, though no
club can play a side from their own association and there are further procedures determining the
exact placing of each contender.
The UEFA Champions League continues its group stage with eight matches on Tuesday, November 24,
2009. The featured match on Tuesday night is FC Barcelona hosts Inter Milan (Internazionale) in
Group F. Other clubs playing on Tuesday include Liverpool, Arsenal, Rangers, and Lyon. Here's a
list of the matches on Tuesday with preview, predictions, and USA/UK Television listings.
The UEFA Champions League wrapped up match day four on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 with eight
matches. There were some key matches as teams are needing results with only the top two teams in
each group advancing to the knockout stage. Here's a recap of all the matches along with video
highlights.
UEFA Champions League Recap Wednesday, November 4, 2009
Liverpool failed to win and their chances of advancing out the group stage took a major hit.
FC Barcelona has just one loss this season, and the defending European champions will get their
chance to avenge that loss on Wednesday when they travel to Russia to take on FC Rubin Kazan on
Wednesday.

A match against the Champions from Russia might be exactly what the doctor ordered for
Internazionale after some poor performances recently. Inter lost their first league game of the
season on Saturday against Sampdoria and the week before had put in a very unconvincing match
against Napoli in a 3-1 win.
The 90th Minute Soccer Blog is glad to announce the UEFA Champions League Power Rankings that
will be released after each set of group stage matches. The rankings are based mainly on teams
performance in the Champions League and not necessarily a reflection of their form in domestic or
other competitions.
It's the Wednesday portion of Champions League Matchday One. Eight games, but there's really only
one game if you're a neutral. I'm talking of course about Dynamo vs FC Rubin Kazan. Or maybe
Internazionale vs Barcelona. Actually, Lyon vs Fiorentina could be a pretty entertaining game too,
but the hype is all about Inter vs Barça.
Europe's finest clubs will take to the pitch on Tuesday in what is considered one of the most
extravagant football competitions – the Uefa Champions League. European action is back after a
lengthy summer break and champions Barcelona will look to add another title in their trophy cabinet
as they start their campaign against Inter Milan at the San Siro on Wednesday.
The Turkish side, Trabzonspor, is said to be a "tricky" side as they found out that they will be
the opponents of Liverpool in the play-offs. Aston Villa will have to travel to Austria to meet
Rapid Vienna and Manchester City will be facing the Romanian side FC Timisoara.
Scottish sides Celtic, Dundee United and Motherwell will take on Utrecht, AEK Athens and Odense
respectively whereas CSKA Sofia will face the Welsh side The New Saints.
As we move into the third Matchday of the UEFA Champions League group stage, teams are starting
to feel the pressure to procure points and jockey for the top two spots in their groups.
One of those teams is Liverpool, which suffered a 2-0 defeat to Fiorentina on Matchday Two and
now meets Lyon knowing a loss to the French club could drop them three points behind Fiorentina for
second place in Group E.
FC Rubin Kazan (Russian: Футбольный клуб Рубин Казань, Tatarn: Рубин
Казан футбол клубы) is a Russian football club based in the city of Kazan
(Tatarstan republic). Rubin is the two-time defending Russian Premier League champions having
successfully defended their 2008 title in 2009.
Valencia have signed Russian Premier-Liga player of the year Alejandro DomÃnguez from FC Rubin
Kazan on a free transfer.
The 28-year-old Argentinian attacking midfielder completed a medical at Mestalla on Monday
before signing a three-and-a-half year deal with Valencia. DomÃnguez finished joint top scorer to
help Rubin to their second successive Russian league title as well as scoring twice in six UEFA
Champions League appearances this term.
With UEFA Champions League 2009-2010 match day 5 now over, the majority of clubs know their
fate. In another interesting two days of football, some of Europe's biggest names are in danger of
slipping out of the competition. Barcelona, Juventus, Bayern Munchen and Real Madrid are just a
few.
Defeats for Manchester United, Juventus, Lyon, Inter Milan and Sevilla prove how tight the group
stages are.
d'Europa, senza neanche troppo affanno, a pareggiare [.
