Article by Pedro GomesAs yet another January camp enters the United States Soccer history books, let us take a quick look
back at what has transpired and what we have learned from the camp.
Rosters:
Typically US roster announcements are desperately anticipated, usually
overly analyzed and this camp was no different.
New England Revolution midfielder Benny Feilhaber is among the 20 players called in by U.S.
Men's National Team head coach Jürgen Klinsmann for the team's annual January training camp, which
will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 3, in Phoenix, Ariz.
The annual camp held in January for players in their offseason is a largely domestic-based group
that includes 18 players who ply their trade in the United States.
The Houston Dynamo announced today that centerback Geoff Cameron has been called into the US
Men's National Team's annual January camp. This is a whole bundle of good news, the main piece
being that the knee injury Cameron sustained in the first half of MLS Cup, the one that kept him
from clearing Landon Donovan's chip for the game-winner (and we all know that absent the injury,
that would have been cleared, right?
Jurgen Klinsmann has called 20 players in for the U.S. Men's National Team's January camp. The
selections leave many nodding their head in agreement as several players who have been left out
will finally get their shot. Barring injury or schedule conflicts, the current group to take on
Venezuela and Panama looks like this:
Goalkeepers: Bill Hamid (DC United), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire), Nick Rimando (Real Salt
Lake)
Defenders: Geoff Cameron (Houston Dynamo), A.
Like moaning and whining and pitching fits over Klinsi's January call-ups!!! YAY!!!!G - Bill Hamid
(D.C. United), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)D - Geoff Cameron (Houston
Dynamo), A.J. DeLaGarza (L.A. Galaxy), Omar Gonzalez (L.A. Galaxy), George John (FC Dallas), Zach
Loyd (FC Dallas), Michael Parkhurst (FC Nordsjaelland), Heath Pearce (Chivas USA)M - Kyle Beckerman
(
The annual January friendlies are set for the US Men's National Team and now the roster is out.
Fans will finally get to see the likes of FC Dallas defender George John and LA Galaxy defender
Omar Gonzalez in action for Jurgen Klinsmann as well as MLS Rookie of the Year CJ Sapong.
Out of the 20 players called up, only two were not from MLS.
Der Bomber Jurgen Klinsmann, named his 20-man roster for January camp and the two international
friendlies in Arizona against Venezuela and away in Panama.
The good? The bad? The ugly? What are your thoughts?
GOALKEEPERS (3): Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire), Nick Rimando (Real Salt
Lake)
DEFENDERS (7): Geoff Cameron (Houston Dynamo), A.

Jurgen Klinsmann has called in 20 players for the U.S. men's national team's January camp, and
the neglected ones from the past few months will finally get their chance to perform in front of
the U.S. coach.
Centerbacks Omar Gonzalez, George John and Geoff Cameron and attacking midfielder Benny
Feilhaber are all part of the crew that will train in Phoenix and at the Home Depot Center in
Carson, Calif.
And the invites are in...or out rather.
Geoff Cameron gets his long-deserved invite...
Jurgen Klinsmann will undoubtedly run a different January camp than his predecessor Bob Bradley
did. That, and the US goes on the road for not one but two matches against Venezuela and Panama.
(Really looking forward to that Panama affair.
The Montreal Impact continued to shape their roster on Monday, signing a player who is no
stranger to the club.
The Impact signed Canadian international Patrice Bernier, a 32-year-old midfielder who
previously played for the club from 2000-2002. Bernier, who was born in Quebec and resides in
Montreal, will vie for a starting spot on the team.

Having been beaten by Kilmarnock in shocking fashion last week, Carlos Bocanegra, Maurice Edu
and Alejandro Bedoya enter their match against Dunfermline Athletic with one thing in mind:
Winning.
Rangers is still four points clear of Celtic for first place in the Scottish Premier League, but
the Blues need to bounce back from last weekend's defeat.
Michael Parkhurst has been a key part of FC Nordsjaelland's success this season and after signing a
contract extension this week, he is ready to lead the club's push to the top of the Danish table.

Last week it was Clint Dempsey who celebrated after scoring two goals in Europa League play.
This week it was Jozy Altidore's turn.
Altidore scored his fourth and fifth goals across all competitions this season in AZ Alkmaar's
6-0 victory over Aalesund in the second leg of their play-off round series.

On a day when a host of Americans Abroad had first-leg games in the playoff round of the UEFA
Europa League, Clint Dempsey had the best performance with a 90-minute outing in which he bagged a
brace.
Dempsey scored the last two goals in Fulham's 3-0 victory against Dnipro, likely assuring the
Cottagers' passage to the next round.
The Europa League offers teams the chance to play against top clubs across Europe in a meaningful
competition - just ask Clint Dempsey, who played in the Europa League final last year! Bigger
games, better opponents, more pressure ... those are some of the important ways that U.S. players
can continue to raise their performance and have that experience translate to the international
level.

The final playoff round of the UEFA Europa League is set to get underway on Thursday, and up to
a dozen Americans could be in action as a result.
Carlos Bocanegra is one of the players who may see playing time as Rangers is hoping to field
him in the first leg of its series against NK Maribor.
The fields for the groups stages of the UEFA Champions League and Europa League are nearly set,
with just one play-in round remaining in each competition.
The 10 Champions League play-in ties are highlighted by an Arsenal-Udinese matchup. The teams
that win those 10 ties will be entered into the draw for the UCL group stage, while the 10 losers
will drop to the Europa League group-stage draw.

The passing of Dennis Marshall didn't only affect Costa Rican players. It also affected
Marshall's teammates at Aalborg BK, and one American paid tribute to the late defender this
weekend.
Chris Rolfe honored his former teammate with the game-winning goal in Aalborg's home-opener, a
2-1 win versus AGF Aarhus.

Most of the big European leagues are still in their preseasons, but that doesn't mean there
isn't a portion of the Americans Abroad already in action.
Clarence Goodson began his first full season with Brondby IF by starting and going the distance
in the club's 2-2 draw with Aalborg BK.

Michael Parkhurst and FC Nordsjaelland may not have won their season finale this weekend, but
Parkhurst helped the club to a sixth-place finish in the Superliga with a 90-minute performance in
a scoreless draw.

There is a small chance Blackburn can get relegated on the Premiership's final matchday, but
Jermaine Jones will aim to erase that possibility and secure the Rovers' spot in the league.
Jones and Blackburn currently sit in 15th place in the Premier League, but they are not
guaranteed safety as they have only one more point than Wigan Athletic and Blackpool, both of which
are in the drop zone.

Robbie Findley had to wait longer than he would have liked, but he finally made his debut abroad
this weekend.
Having fully recovered from a thigh injury picked up in February, Findley made his first
appearance for Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
