Brad Friedel is enjoying a great start to the Premiership season, and it could get even better for him this weekend.

Friedel and Aston Villa head to Ewood Park this Saturday to take on Friedel's former club, Blackburn Rovers. A win for Friedel in the stadium he is so familiar with, in front of the fans that used to cheer him on, would truly cap off the 38-year-old's remarkable start to the season, a start that includes three shutouts and 23 saves.

Parkhurst Recalled For Semifinal

U.S. coach Bob Bradley has recalled defender Michael Parkhurst to the squad for Thursday's semifinal against Honduras. The FC Nordsjaelland-based defender appeared in the USA's group games against Honduras and Haiti before returning to Denmark to start the league season. U.S. Soccer released the Gold Cup roster today and only four members of the Confederations Cup squad will be with the team, with Charlie Davies being the only one of those four to have played in any of the U.S.'s first four Confed. Cup matches.

Michael Parkhurst's FC Nordsjaelland beat Velje 4-1 on Tuesday in the Danish SAS-Ligaen. Bajram Fetai opened the scoring for Nordsjaelland in the 10th and Valentino Lai grabbed Velje's equalizer sixteen minutes later. In the second half, it was all Nordsjaelland. Amongst the midweek action, Carlos Bocanegra and Rennes reached the Coupe de France final after defeating Grenoble 1-0 on Tuesday. Bocanegra, who typically plays left back for the French club, played centrally in the game that saw Rennes reach the cup final for the first time in 38 years.

Former Rookie of the Year Parkhurst on his way to Europe

New England Revolution defender and former Rookie of the Year Michael Parkhurst is leaving Major League Soccer after 4 seasons.  Parkhurst is finishing up contract negotiations with FC Nordsjaelland, a team from Denmark's Superligaen.

Parkhurst's contract was up at the end of this past season so his move is free for FC Nordsjaelland.
