Last night, a great night from brand new KuPS signing Dickson Nwakaeme helped KuPS to a 3-0 win
over RoPS, while TamU did exactly what was needed and overcame JJK with the scoreline 1-0. A more
detailed round-up is on the way once the round is completed, but for now we are taking a look at
today's games

A match between two skillful, attacking-minded teams was always going to be entertaining and
Inter and Honka lived up to their expectations. It was a very good game from both teams, and
neither side really deserved to lose. Honka did lose in the end, and will not look back at their
early season very positively.

FC Inter - FC Honka
Turku, 7 PM
Live on Urheilukanava and streams
The two teams are quite similar in terms of their flowing movement with short passes, and are
thus able to make this an entertaining fixture. The teams are four and six points from top
respectively, and both are in need of a win tonight if they want to be on the cutting edge as far
as the title race is concerned.

and shows great promise for 2010 and following years.
Having been able to grow and solidify 18 teams through expansion, the league looks stronger than
ever and poised for a a solid 2010 year, where it may be able to feature a two-tiered league based

The second round of games, similarly to the first, shrank a bit because newly promoted JJK
joined the already too long list of teams who had to cancel their opening fixture. VPS and Haka
kicked off the round yesterday, with the latter snapping a 1-0 away win thanks to a goal from
Pietari Holopainen.

TamU beat Honka 4-3 in an entertaining game that saw TamU stir up the title race once again. A few
weeks ago they got a home win against Inter and now the other title candidate was treated to a
defeat at their hands. FC Lahti - IFK Mariehamn A win would guarantee IFK Mariehamn a place in

Yle started their Veikkausliiga broadcasts today as FF Jaro played FC Lahti. The system in Finland
is quite interesting: Urheilukanava broadcast the games from April to September, and Yle are only
interested when the title is about to be won. The move from Urheilukanava to Yle may raise the
number of people watching, as Urheilukanava is [.

The respective U21 sides of Finland and Sweden had nothing between them as their friendly match in
Turku drew to a close, and the result - one goal for each - reflected the proceedings quite well.
The hosts started the game well, with Tomi Petrescu, Perparim Hetemaj, Berat Sadik and Tim Sparv
all causing trouble to [.

Ilkka Mäkelä had hoped for 5-6,000, but in the end the attendance for Jari Litmanen's
return was 4,163. Seasoned football-watchers were unsurprised about that, given the history of
football in Lahti. One told me that "hardly anybody in Lahti supports FC Lahti. The real clubs
there are Kuusysi and Reipas.

Juha raised a good question the other day about Finnish teams in Europe. Are they happy to draw big
clubs, in the expectation that they will get a drubbing and a bumper crowd, or do they prefer to
get the unkown teams that might offer a chance of priogress? TamU's co-owner Tim Rowe was rather

Once again, the games start on Saturday and the last one will be played on Wednesday - so if my
predictions go wrong as far as Wednesday's TPS-KuPS is concerned, I'll blame it on having to write
the preview so early. FF Jaro - Tampere United This is Saturday's only game. TamU are probably
tired following their [.

RoPS built their convincing 4-0 win against KuPS on some excellent finishing at the offensive end.
Chileshe Chibwe netted twice to give RoPS a 2-0 lead and the job was finished by Mika Nurmela and
Juha Majava in the second half. Chibwe scored his first in the 6th with an excellent header and
bagged another [.

TamU lost yesterday, but the stats show a decent performance. The result sent MyPa to the top of
the league, and kept TamU down in lower mid-table. They will almost certainly have to rely on
the cup to get into Europe this year, and they have a tough Quarter Final draw: FC Haka –
TP-47 FC Honka [.

TamU lost 2-1 to Honka yesterday, with King Henri Myntti getting the goal for TamU. I didn't go, as
i got drunk in the afternoon and managed to forget about it until it was rather late. Such is the
Finnish summer. Sounded like a crap game, but at least the King is still scoring and [...]
