The UEFA Europa League group stage will wrap up today, and several Americans are hoping their
respective team is still standing after the dust has settled.
Jozy Altidore is one of those players, as he and AZ Alkmaar need a win over already-qualified FC
Metalist Kharkiv in Group G in order to secure qualification.
Michael Parkhurst and Nordsjaelland will try to rebound in Silkeborg from their Danish Cup
disappointment while Brad Rusin and Koge face a difficult trip to neighboring FC Copenhagen.
Yep, Clarence Goodson buried the first goal of that game (and his first of the season) from an 18th
minute free kick and then marshaled the Brøndby backline in a 2-1 win over FC Copenhagen that now
gives Michael Parkhurst's FC Nordsjælland a chance to cut into the league lead. Clip to come...-

With the second half of the Europa League group stages kicking off today, the English Premier
League quartet involved in the competition are sitting pretty in their respective groups.
Tottenham and Stoke City sit atop Groups A and E, respectively, on seven points, while
Birmingham City is tied for the top spot with Club Brugge on six points — the two sides clash
today.
Steve Cherundolo got the start for Hannover 96, drawing 2-2 with FC Copenhagen in Group B. Hannover
took the lead through Christian Pander 29 minutes in, with Copenhagen equalizing in the 58th.
Sergio Pinto put the home team back in front in the 82nd, but Copenhagen split the points with a
late equalizer from Cesar Santin in the 89th minute.
Chris Rolfe and Aalborg face perhaps their toughest game of the season when they visit unbeaten FC
Copenhagen while Conor O'Brien and SonderjyskE will look to take full points on their visit to
Midtjylland.
Liverpool has agreed a £4million deal in principle with Bolton for David Ngog.
The outline of the move was done before Liverpool's 3-1 win over Wanderers at Anfield and it is now
up to the striker to decide his future.
Ngog has already turned down Sunderland and Leicester this summer and Bolton boss Owen Coyle is
determined to land the Frenchman.
Jurgen Klinsmann's 24-man crew now knows exactly who it'll be going up against in the upcoming
friendlies.
Costa Rica and Belgium have put out their rosters for the matches against the U.S. men's
national team, who will be hosting Los Ticos at the Home Depot Center on Sept.
UEFA have announced the seeding's for tomorrow's much anticipated Champions League
draw with the usual suspects in pot one. Manchester City will be in pot one and neither
the top seed's or second seed's will want to draw them, bar Barcelona who are favourites to beat
everyone. Trabzonspor are in pot three also after replacing Fenerbache who were thrown out of the
Competition over match fixing allegations.
Four more spots remain in the draw for the UEFA Champions League group stage, and Arsenal is
hoping that it will secure one of those places to be a part of Thursday's festivities instead of
having to drop down to the Europa League.
The Gunners have dealt with plenty of loss, between on-field results and important personnel
bolting for other teams, and they'll look to hold on to a 1-0 lead over Udinese as their tie shifts
to Italy.
César Santin scored FC København's winning goal against AC Horsens on Saturday
Denmark's two representatives in the UEFA Champions League, FK København and Odense Boldklub,
have warmed up for their respective second leg ties against Viktoria Plzeň and Villarreal CF with
crucial wins in their domestic Superliga championship.
Danish side Odense stunned Villareal in to-nights Champions League qualifier 1st leg, when
Hans Henrik Andreason scored the winner 6 minutes from time at TRE-FOR Park.
Odense were founded in 1887 and were making their Champions League debut having finished second
in the Danish Superliga 26 points behind FC Copenhagen last season.
For 20 teams, the UEFA Champions League group stage is within reach, and half of those teams
will try and take the first step to getting there on Tuesday.
The final qualifying round for the Champions League kicks off with Arsenal and Udinese stealing
the spotlight with the first-leg of their encounter in London.
Poulsen Hopes to Leave Liverpool
Christian Poulsen hopes to leave Liverpool this summer after failing to find his feet in the
Premier League. The Denmark international is believed to be attracting interest from FC Copenhagen,
although there is as yet no bids to report.
As everybody else continues to wonder how the heck Arsenal are going to find a positive end to
the transfer season and manage to get a positive start to the season, an important set of games
regarding Arsenal's future in the Champions League finished today, and we finally have a clear look
at who Arsenal will be facing to get into the CL Group Stage.
The agent of Liverpool midfielder Christian Poulsen has rubbished reports linking the Dane to
Copenhagen, and says that his client will not be leaving Anfield this summer.
Poulsen endured a poor first season at Liverpool after being signed by former manager Roy Hodgson
last summer, and made just six appearances under new boss Kenny Dalglish, the last of which came in
March.

Poulsen Set to Stay at Anfield
Christian Poulsen is due to stay at Liverpool for another season, according to his agent Jorn
Bonnesen. The Dane, who has been labelled as deadwood within the squad by many Liverpool fans, had
been linked to a move back to his native Denmark in the form of FC Copenhagen.
FC Copenhagen is set to offer Christian Poulsen an escape from Liverpool.
The midfielder opened the scoring for the Reds in today's 4-3 win over Guangdong, as part of their
pre-season tour of Asia, but will still be deemed surplus to requirements at Anfield.
After enjoying two years with Copenhagen before joining Schalke in 2002, Poulsen could be in line
for a return to the Danish capital with an offer of £2.
The 14th round of the Allsvenskan kicked off with GAIS hosting Malmö FF on Sunday the 26th of
June. Now before I get to the good stuff in this game, I wanted to first consider the position that
Rikard Norling is in right now. Malmö had a phenomenal season last year and then started this one
with a bang as well.

Michael Parkhurst and FC Nordsjaelland may not have won their season finale this weekend, but
Parkhurst helped the club to a sixth-place finish in the Superliga with a 90-minute performance in
a scoreless draw.
FC Copenhagen is ready to offer Danish midfielder Christian Poulsen a way out of his Anfield
nightmare, with international manager Morten Olsen claiming the 31-year-old must quit the club if
he wants to retain a place for his country.
After being signed by Roy Hodgson for almost £5 million, Poulsen has struggled to impress the
Liverpool fans, despite initially being signed as a potential replacement for Argentine Javier
Mascherano.
If you do not follow the Danish Superliga what is wrong with you? then you may not know of the
nature of the league: "league" is a liberal use of the term. It's basically FC Kobenhavn
(Copenhagen whichever) and then everyone else scrapping for second makes La Liga look the picture
of widespread parity.

Oscar Wendt is close to leave FC Copenhagen with Liverpool among the favourites to snatch the
Swede, report skysports.com.
A number of clubs have been coveting the 25-year-old after the left-back stared for the Danish side
in the Champions League.
And his agent's latest comment, claiming the defender is ready to sign a deal with one of Europe's
elite clubs confirms the interest surrounding him, with Liverpool leading the race.
There are a few things we want from footballers: good football and the occasional soundbite.
Bout it. And checks, should they feel genesis.
Insight into their taste in music? Hardly. Must be like combing through a 14 year old girl's
iPod looking at you, Cesc & Iker.
FC Copenhagen, one of the surprise Cinderella stories of the year, has turned in all their good
karma for the bad variety: as their season is @#$%ing pointless, they'll have some fun by allowing
the players to play DJ at the Parken during games through the remainder of the Danish season.
The first round of the Allsvenskan is behind us and I thought I would go ahead with a quick
summary of the action that took place. As with any league in the world, there isn't all that much
to be surmised and taken apart for analysis after only one game, however that doesn't mean that
there aren't still questions waiting to be asked.
Liverpool are one of the English clubs in talks with defender Oscar Wendt, according to
reports.
The Swedish international defender has emerged as a top target for a number of clubs across Europe,
with his current contract at FC Copenhagen set to expire in the summer and the player set to become
available on a free transfer.
I was not expecting, but merely hoping that Brøndby could pull a surprise against FC Copenhagen. I
spite of leading 0-1, it was not to be, and FC Copenhagen own 3-1. Then it was Valencia's turn to
round off a bad weekend: at home to Sevilla Valencia needed a victory to keep ahead on third spot,
but in a match full of both offensive and defensive mistakes (except by goalkeeper Guaita), Sevilla
won

Once again Didier Drogba is the focus of media attention in interviews published after the win over
FC Copenhagen. This time Drogba is featured speaking of the Champions League draw later today and
the level of expectation at the club. He said:
"At this stage of the competition whoever you get you have to deal with it and try to
go through.
Fernando Torres is quoted tonight speaking after the game against FC Copenhagen about a possible
partnership in our new 4-4-2 formation with Didier Drogba and believes that it's something that can
work. He said:
"I think we are mature enough and clever enough to play together. There's no question
about this.
Well that was easy now wasn't it even if a couple of goals would have been nice along the way.
First of all credit to FC Copenhagen for coming to the Bridge to play their football and for having
a go and secondly, fair play to their fans who never stopped singing all game. It makes you realise
that the competition we take for granted at Chelsea, means so much to a club like Copenhagen.
Chelsea eased into the Champions League quarter-finals after a goalless draw against FC
Copenhagen having done much of the hard work three weeks ago.
After having won 2-0 in Denmark in the first leg, Chelsea were heavily favoured to progress to
the quarter-finals and although they dominated possession and created the better chances at
Stamford Bridge, a lack of composure in front of goal mean the game ended goalless.

Tonight, Chelsea take on FC Copenhagen in the second leg of our round of 16 match after beating
them 2-0 away in the first leg. On a cold night out there, Nicolas Anelka scored twice to give us a
fantastic chance to progress into the Quarter Final draw on Friday. Carlo Ancelotti has spoken of
rotation ahead of the game tonight, but we need to ensure we do not rotate too much and get the job
done.
Carlo Ancelotti gave his press conference ahead of tonight's 2nd leg against FC Copenhagen. He
spoke of a fully fit squad, confidence and a chance to rotate players for tonight and our showdown
with Manchester City on Sunday.
He said:
'I want to rotate in this game, I didn't choose the team for tomorrow but I want to use
rotation because we have all the players fit and I want to use all the players to prepare for these
two games with Copenhagen and Manchester City.
