Marco Reus finds all the right answers to Bayern's trash talk. Reus'
announcement to move to Dortmund in the summer, triggered a series of trademark taunts from down
south during the winter break. Reus supposedly demanded a guaranteed starting spot at Bayern. He
chickened from trying to fight for his place in the team.

Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has advised his club against buying rising star
Marco Reus. The 22 year Borussia Mochengladbach player has been the centre of attention for a
number of clubs including Arseanl who had shown an interest in him early last month.
Surprisingly, the reason why Schweinsteiger is opposed to Reus's move is because Reus is a
direct rival for his position in the team.
Na tactics can compensate for individual mistakes. Bayern's 3-0 win over
Cologne was rich in absurdity. Ribery blew a fuse. The match ball blew out. Cologne blew a one man
advantage. You could add Solbakken's one-off idea to bring back the five man backline to this list.
Except, that it actually worked out pretty well to frustrate Bayern most of the time.
Bayern are catching up with Barcelona. Philipp Lahm may speak the truth but his
sense of timing is really a bit off this season. Whether it is publishing memoirs in the middle of
his career, or making bold claims a day ahead of embarrassing defeats for both Barcelona and
Bayern. He just can't get it right.
His technique is exquisite. His movement is terrific. His vision is breathtaking. His quality is
unquestionable.
He is 22 years of age. He is one of the Bundesliga's hottest properties. His name is Marco Reus,
and he is the latest star to emerge from German football.
After a blistering start to the season, Reus has been thrust into the spotlight, and many top
clubs around Europe have taken notice of his fine performances.
The Winter transfer window is just around the corner and many clubs are already flying their
agents to every continent to scout for the best talent. Chelsea coach Villas-Boas has already sent
out his newly appointed European scout to Italy to look for a replacement for the aging Didier
Drogba while fellow London Club Arsenal through their manager/scout Arsene Wenger have already set
their eyes on Borussia Mochengladbach forward Marcos Reus.
Inter Milan poised to swoop for Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie. Or how about Borussia Dortmund
midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz admitting he is interested in a move to Gunners?
These are two of the offerings within the nation's sports pages this morning in a week that will
drag out the merest rumour of a yarn to fill the papers in the absense of domestic football and the
stories to meet our thirst for knowledge.
Those were 150.000 Euros not well spent for Wolfsburg. Felix Magath loaned
Aliaksandr Hleb from Barcelona for a special €100k per game and €50k per goal fee. Thus,
Magath's total expenses for Saturday's trip to Dortmund added up to €150k, not counting the
damage Dortmund's fresh in form offense caused all afternoon.
Franck Ribery loves life without Louis. And it starts to show on the pitch. One
of the best games of the French winger in a while. Robbery sounds great on paper. In reality it was
usually about Arjen Robben cutting inside and scoring decisive goals, while Ribery was doubled,
frustrated and ineffective.

Michael Bradley is officially out of team limbo.
According to Bradley's agent, Ron Waxman, the 24-year-old U.S. international midfielder has
completed his move from Borussia Monchengladbach to Chievo Verona, ending a frustrating spell on
the sidelines and beginning a new chapter in his club career.
The 70s are looming large in Mönchengladbach. They always do. But with
Mönchengladbach topping the table, after playing Wolfsburg off the Borussia Park in style, the
media was quick with their comparisons to Gladbach's glory days. When Lucien Favre took over at
Hertha, he came with the promise to build a team that could challenge for the Bundesliga and play
beautiful football.
Keller Serves Up Beers and Stories to Seattle Fans at the Atlantic Crossing
It was a beautiful night in Seattle last Wednesday and the beers were flowing at Atlantic
Crossing for the Kasey Keller-Arlo White meet and greet. Arlo and Kasey make a great pair on the
microphone with a lot of interesting banter covering the Sounders games, EPL and Kaseys' stories
from his successful career overseas and of course the topic all of Seattle is interested in his
retirement and what will happen next for Keller.
Chris McClintick returns (Are you getting college credit for these features yet,
Chris?) to TSG with a feature on Borussia Mönchengladbach (or as we
affectionately call them around here "Bo'Munchen) minus one Michael Bradley.
Favre's Foals.
1. Title candidates stumble and struggle. Good news for the rest of the league:
Mario Götze has off-days. Dortmund have a bogey team and are perfectly beatable. The good news for
Dortmund: their biggest rivals still have some way to go to be a serious threat. Both Leverkusen
and Bayern just about grinded out their first unconvincing wins.
The Bundesliga is back in its 49th incarnation and Friday's curtain raiser was both wonderful
and frightening frightening at least for Bayern, Leverkusen and who else might have had vague hopes
to win the league next year.
Dortmund 3-1 Helpless SV. Defending champions Dortmund kicked off the new
season in style and with a promise of beautiful football, only they seem to be able to deliver this
season.

It's no secret that United States midfielder Michael Bradley has been seeking a new club, but it
appears that if that search goes fruitless, he won't have a place with the team at which he is
currently under contract.
Borussia Monchengladbach coach Lucien Favre reportedly stated that Bradley wants to leave and is
not in the club's plans at all, and, according to reports out of Germany, he has the backing of the
club's sporting director, meaning that should Bradley be unable to secure a transfer, he won't
participate with the team despite being under contract with the Bundesliga outfit through June.
I know I'm in danger of turning this into the Michael Bradley blog, but US Soccer are doing a
great job of putting out videos like this with their national team players. In this one, which is
far more in-depth than the last one, Bradley reflects on life in England and the key differences to
playing in Germany.

geschafft.
by Dru Boyer Brad Friedel made a save in a 1-1 draw with Wigan at Villa Park. MB0 was active, but
did not appear...kinda like the ghosts on Ghost Hunters, or am I the only one that watches that
show? Mystery remains open as to where the Favre of Villa Park will land next season. [...]
After a humiliating 8-1 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich last weekend, FC St. Pauli's drop
to the second tier of German football was confirmed. A horrid run of ten games has seen the club
gain only a single point, and any hopes of a miracle escape were crushed by the rampant
Bavarians.
English speaking BVB fans are on cloud nine. Their German speaking counterparts are on cloud
seven. But maybe there's a way to bring the two together for the big party on May 14th. Roman
Weidenfeller will volunteer as a translator. A 2-0 victory over Nuremberg clinched Dortmund's
seventh German championship and the first title after nine years, thanks to Leverkusen doing, what
Leverkusen does best.
Dortmund need to postpone their lap of honor through the Bundesliga. Manuel Neuer may have made
the "next big step" in his career from one Europa League bound club to another. A wild winning
spree at the bottom of the table leaves Cologne and St. Pauli as this weekend's biggest losers.
Leverkusen 2-1 Hoffenheim.
ins Tor.
New Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Lucien Favre looks at the task ahead.

Television is not ruining the game of soccer. That said, it is important to understand the
effect that watching a soccer match on a television has on a spectator's cognition, as a match on a
screen is fundamentally different from a match taking place in front of the spectator's eyes. At
worst, the effect can create an unbearable narrative that is pressed upon the viewers against their
will (Favre, Beckham).
einstecken.
