A perfect 10. Or an imperfect 10. But I hope you're enjoying this so far.
So @sweirz has set me this challenge on Twitter:
A Scotland international XI made up of players that have never played for the Old Firm. And no
Anglos.
So Scotland players drawn exclusively from non-Old Firm Scottish clubs.
Slovenia is another round of teams better than the United States that Jurgen Klinsmann will test
his system and talent evaluation against on a Tuesday morning at 9 AM Pacific on ESPN2. Similar to
the USA the Slovenes faded since the World Cup. They weren't as high in the rankings, nor have they
fallen as far.
After yet another disappointing campaign under Nigel Worthington, and a continuation of the
unenviable streak that will now see Northern Ireland fail to make a major tournament for at least
32 years, the IFA will seek out a new manager to try and reverse the fortunes of the small nation
who have struggled in recent years for both talent and results on the international playing
field.

In one of the shocks of the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign, plucky little Estonia made it out of
Group C, a group which contained Italy, Serbia and Slovenia, all sides well above them in the FIFA
rankings, along with Northern Ireland and the mighty Faroe Islands.

As the Euro 2012 qualifying round winds down, the cream is rising to the top.
Defending champion Spain and Italy joined Germany as powerhouses to qualify for next summer's
tournament finals after victories over Lichtenstein and Slovenia, respectively, on Tuesday.
David Villa and Alvaro Negredo each netted braces in Spain's 6-0 victory that cemented the
nation's place atop Group I, while Giampaolo Pazzini's late goal gave Italy a 1-0 win and
guaranteed first place atop Group C.
Serbia is set to face the Faroe Islands in Group C action, while Kazakhstan heads to Azerbaijan
in an exciting match-up of countries that can't qualify for next summer's European Championships.
Plus there might be a couple of games that you'll be vaguely interested in because hey, it's
football, which is better than nothing.
A early Antonio Cassano goal gave Italy a 1-0 away victory and with this victory it almost seals
their passage to Euro 2012 next summer. With a the player strike on in Serie A last week, most of
the Italy starting XI hasn't played a competitive match this season and it started to show on later
on in the game.
An eleven goal margin of victory deserves a special celebration. And Robin van Persie and Klaas-Jan
Huntelaar certainly pulled out all the stops for their interpretation of Torvill & Dean's 'Bolero'.

Are you worried because you missed all of the important events from the weekend's Euro 2012
qualifying games and random internationals, people?
The international fixtures for the month of September got underway all across the globe on
Friday, but no game came close to the Netherlands' match versus San Marino in terms of
lopsidedness.
Playing in a Group E European Championship qualifier, the Netherlands scored nearly a dozen
goals as it defeated San Marino 11-0.

Never underestimate that Viking spirit, but never forget the four stars you wear, either.
Starting Lineups:
Italy:
4-3-1-2: Buffon; Maggio, Ranocchia, Chiellini, Criscito; Thiago Motta, Pirlo, De Rossi,
Montolivo; Cassano, Rossi.
It's an extremely light weekend on television this week in the United States, unless you count
ESPN3 (which isn't really television) because it's mostly international action and most of those
matches are going on at the same time (Friday, 2:45 EDT). Therefore, we are foregoing our Top Five
Matches of the Weekend until next week while we work on the Monthly International Rankings and
watch a little international football.
Our boys are traveling to the islands this weekend for a Euro 2012 Qualifier. Which islands, you
might ask? The Faroe Islands, of course. Still don't know where they're going? Maybe a quick little
quiz will help you... (Don't worry, it's multiple choice) [read more]
Things are never as bad as they seem. In 1882 The Sporting Times declared English cricket
dead.
Right now England are the number one team in the world, holders of The Ashes that once symbolised
their demise.

But this was a grim night for Scottish football.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is set to continue his summer spending spree and is lining up a

Patrick James "Paddy" McCourt is a Northern Irish footballer who plays as a left winger for
Celtic and Northern Ireland. McCourt is known for his exceptional ball control and dribbling
ability, as well as his ability to score spectacular solo goals. This has led to him being
nicknamed "the Derry Pelé" by players, fans and pundits.
Listening to the Guardian's Football Weekly's EPL preview podcast at the gym last night, I
figured to hear a sentence or two about our season outlook. Instead, we got the last word.
As in, only the final few words spoken in the entire 45 minute podcast.
I don't have the transcript but the last 30 seconds or so go something like this:
James Richardson: Well that should wrap things up
Barry Glendenning: I bet we missed a team
Gregg Roughley: Haven't mentioned Fulham
Sean Ingle: Or Wolves
Barry Glendenning: Fulham and Wolves!

Celtic's Paddy McCourt was handed his first full competitive start for Nigel Worthington's Norn
Iron at Windsor Park last night, and went on to bag a brace in a 4-0 win over the Faroe
Islands.
The winger's second goal (the last goal of the night) was a thing of beauty, with McCourt
cutting in from the wing, tacking between a pair of listless defenders before hooking a perfect lob
over the Faroes 'keeper - all in a night's work for 'The Derry Pele'.
Pat'll do Celtic winger Paddy McCourt was the star of the show as Northern Ireland beat the Faroe

The last time a team from Allsvenskan played in Europe was the 2007 season where Helsingborg
managed to make it into the group stage. Once there, they took second place and were knocked out by
PSV Eindhoven in the first knockout stage. I watched the last game in Helsingborg live, and though
PSV were certainly the better team, Helsingborg had proved that teams from Allsvenskan could play
and even do well at this level.

England were given a tricky World Cup qualifying group as they will face Montenegro, Ukraine,

Scotland and Wales were drawn together in Group A, and will play Croatia, Serbia, Belgium, and
the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
It has been a summer of poor career decisions but, in football terms, if there was to be a
winner for this particular award over the last three months, it would be difficult to argue against
the winner of said award being Mark Hughes. Hughes departed from Craven Cottage at the start of the
summer, according to common belief in full anticipation of landing the then-vacant managerial
position at Aston Villa, only for Villa to decide that he wasn't the man for them and award the
position to Alex McLeish instead.
1998 World Cup champion and 2006 World Cup runner-up France will have to play a top-seeded European
team in qualifying it was announced on Wednesday. The draw, which will take place on Saturday,

top-ranked country in the world is in the top-seeded pot as expected, along with other heavyweights
Germany, Holland and Italy.
Faroe Play Fulham kick off season 2011-12 is a post from: Just Football
It's 7pm on June 30th, precisely one month after Swansea's play-off final triumph over Reading

The first two rounds of Europa League qualifying were set earlier in the week, sending Fulham on a
long overseas journey to the Faroe Islands to begin their campaign in the competition.

Robbie Keane made history in the Republic of Ireland's 2-0 victory away at Macedonia on Saturday

Slovakia who also won their Matchday 6 games against Armenia and Andorra respectively.
