CHESTER, Pa. -- Carlos Valdes and Michael Farfan are used to playing at PPL Park, but they had never played in a game quite like last night, when each of them made their All-Star debuts in front of their home crowd.

When Aurelien Collin went down with a fractured cheekbone in the 36th minute, All-Star coach Ben Olsen called upon Valdes to fill in and play the rest of the match.

CARSON, Calif. – Omar Gonzalez made his return to action, but the Los Angeles Galaxy were unable to get a victory as a stoppage time goal by Michael Farfan gave the Philadelphia Union, a 2-1 victory over the Galaxy.

Making his first apperance for the Galay since tearing his ACL in January, Gonzalez was solid throughout his 45 minutes of action, but ultimately could not stop the Union from stealing a victory.

With the MLS playoff race heating up, both the Philadelphia Union and Real Salt Lake could have used three points from their match on Friday night. Union Fall 3-1 to the Chicago Fire

I left PPL Park tonight having scored just as many goals as the Philadelphia Union had scored against the visiting Chicago Fire (and even against Montreal last week), none. Don't get me wrong the Union did get a goal in the 34th-minute off a nice, arcing cross from Freddy Adu to Chandler Hoffman, but it deflected off Chicago defender Jalil Anibaba, past keeper Sean Johnson and into the back of the net for an own goal.

Tactics Talk: Would Michael Farfan in Freddy Adu’s Role Improve the Offense?

Brotherly Game at related • 0 views

As I touched upon in an article on Saturday, Freddy Adu has not lived up to his role as a playmaking winger enough this year. A few games, specifically his pre-second yellow card play against the New York Red Bulls, have shown that he has the mindset and ability to properly adjust to the role he thrust himself into this offseason, but Adu has disappointed routinely out of a high spot in the Philadelphia Union's offense.

The time is now, Freddy.
