Man, a week after Thierry Henry majorly disappointed in the MLS Fantasy Manager game, the Frenchmen turned around and had one of the best performances with the New York Red Bulls. A nice one goal and two assist day against Toronto put out a big 21 points, or 42 in my case since captain points double.
Ah the curse of a suspension to Thierry Henry. I debated long and hard on which two-game player to take this week. Chris Wondolowski or Thierry Henry. Taking the French striker didn't go as planned.
Just a mere 72 points on the week. Better than average but well below the high of the week.
Wondo would have been a bigger player to get and I can't stress how close I came to adding him back on the roster.
It was a long round in the MLS Fantasy Manager game but a damn good one for team WVH AC.
My squad took the extra couple of games and pulled out a nice 92 point week.
The one big drawback for the round was having Dwayne De Rosario. He ended up on the bench since he didn't play in the round but boy it would have been nice to use his salary on someone else for the week.
Decent, not bad, and just okay. Those are adjectives I would use to describe the week my club
had in the MLS Fantasy Manager game.
It was another 60+ point week for the club, better than the game average but in the end not good
enough to push my club further up the overall rankings (still in the 300s).
I'll admit, I totally forgot to do anything with my Fantasy Manager lineup this week. I knew
there were midweek games that would case the roster freeze to happen a day or two early but the
busy day job stuff got in the way of me updating anything on my roster.
Ah, we're back ....well...sorta. After a not-so-great week in the MLS Fantasy Manager game last
week, WVH AC turned it around a bit and posted a solid 66 points.
So the Thierry Henry-Kenny Cooper duo up top didn't work as well for me as I would have hoped.
Not to mention the week that I did dump Chris Wondolowski he finally scores again.
Well the good times had to come to an end eventually for my Fantasy Manager team. For the first
time this season my point total in a round was below the game average well just one point to be
exact. WVH AC gained a lowly 33 points on the week with my biggest point getting being a young
defender from New York.
For my MLS Fantasy Manager team, WVH AC, it was another so-so week. The good was seeing points
even some big points out of some defenders like Austin Berry of Chicago and Montreal's Alessandro
Nesta. The bad, not getting a big enough return out of the gamble of Robbie Keane. Naturally the
one game I pick one of the big three from LA, they get blown out on the road.
It appeared to be a down week for everyone in the MLS Fantasy Manager game. The high of the week
for any club was just a mere 79 points. Which is why I am taking my 45 points and not complaining
one bit.
The good of the week was obviously getting points from Brad Davis who had two assists and the
attacking duo of Darren Mattocks and Chris Wondolowski (who really only had five points but that
captain band doubles it).
Another week in the Fantasy Manager game, and another solid return.
The only issue with below, the game hasn't fully credited all of Lee Young-Pyo's points. There
is no way he got just three points on the night (2 for going 90 minutes and 1 for defensive bonus).
The guy had an assist on the first Whitecaps goal last night against San Jose.
The midweek slew of games turned out a small profit for my Fantasy Manager squad WVH AC.
A decent 35 points. Better than the game average so that is something to hang my hat on.
A bunch of 2′s and 3′s across the board. Montreal's Patrice Brenier was the big get this
round while Chris Wondowloski was quieted once again by FC Dallas for the second time in two
weeks.
After the dog-days of summer creeped into my Fantasy Manager game, WVH AC finally had a bounce
back week that helped vault my squad up a few standings.
A big 80 points, 32 points over the week's average (something I've barely been able to massively
get over lately) really was fueled by none other than Chris Wondolowski and his hat trick against
Real Salt Lake.
It has been a couple rough weeks for my Fantasy Manager squad.
I took the big gamble this past round and used my one wild card (ultimate transfers).
The big 'ouch' was Chris Wondolowski going cold against FC Dallas. His coldness along with
limited points from Saer Sene and Chris Rolfe gave my forwards one of the worst weeks so far in
this game.
Yeah that's how I am feeling when I look at my fantasy manager results from this past week. The
moves that were made in the midweek failed to pay off. It didn't help that this was possibly the
one weekend in the league that saw a ton of goals scored though. The usual points from the defense
didn't come through even though I just started three players in the back.
Last night's six pack of games in Major League Soccer also meant it was an extra
week/session/round in the MLS Fantasy Manager game.
Each team got three transfers for the short week, which meant you needed to use them wisely. I
thought I did a decent job as I kind of made selections for the midweek and for the weekend in
mind.
It has been a while since we've been able to examine my fortunes and failures as a MLS Fantasy
Manager. Week 13 finally finished up in the fantasy game and the slide for WVH AC continues
thankfully it is not as big of a slide as FC Dallas is currently on.
Picking this team nearly two weeks ago may have been the issue with the low 72 points.
Week 11 was a gamble week for my Fantasy club that in the end did not pay off. A low 47 points
on the week just five over the week's average.
I gambled with my midfield yet again with brining in Brian Mullan who had two games on the week
and Dax McCarty. The Mullan gamble didn't work out as he got hurt and only gave out a single
point.
I'm 10 weeks into the 2012 Fantasy Manager and so far, so good. Typically this is about the time
of the year where I hit the preverbal wall and stop caring as much about this but like I stated,
these weekly posts will hopefully keep me from doing that.
I took a major gamble in Week 10, I subbed out a couple guys as went with an odd 5-2-3
formation.
Week 9 was a solid one once again for my fantasy team, WVH AC. A decent 78 points put thanks to
a few double-dips and a massive outburst by Chris Wondolowski. The Quakes' leading man bagged a
nice 19 points for the week by since he was the team captain it was a double of that for 38
points.
Booya. Another big week in the MLS Fantasy Manager game for WVH AC!
A nice 85 points helped move me up some of the tables including taking over the SBNation blogger
league and now I am at number 20 in the MLS ExtraTime league. Not bad.
The gamble at Kyle Beckerman (transfer for Graham Zusi who was off last week) obviously paid off
in a big way.
Booya! A big week for WVH AC in the MLS Fantasy Manager. A big 85 points on the week, thanks to
big games from guys like Sebastien Le Toux, Nick DeLeon and Maicon Santos.
Now things get tricky for this coming week. Sporting KC is off so that means either I need to
make three moves or get real craft with other moves around the pitch.
I think Week 6 was a strong one for everyone involved. My club's 66 points topped the overall
average by about 20 points but was still about 30 shy of the top team in the round. Still not too
bad considering I had four players that were apart of the week's "dream team" for the top
performers.
Week 5 in MLS had it's first week with a pair of clubs having two games. That meant double the
points if you played your cards right with some players from Real Salt Lake or from the Montreal
Impact. I gambled by adding Fabian Espindola to my roster after making two other moves, in the end
the extra attacker wasn't a bad call though I do wish I was able to keep Portland's Kris Boyd for
another week since he finally bagged a goal against Chivas USA.
With the first match of Euro 2012 just around the corner, there's a few significant Liverpool
notes to get to before we turn most of our attention to Poland and Ukraine. Most important is the
reminder for folks who haven't to join in the Liverpool Offside group for ESPN's Euro Manager. Noel
covered the details yesterday, but worth mentioning again for those late to the party that there's
a chance to win absolutely nothing while exposing your weaknesses as a fantasy manager!
