Thanks to the fine people at Allstate, a World Football Challenge sponsor, we have two pairs of
tickets that we'll give to a lucky reader here. Allstate is supplying these tickets to us so we can
let you know that former United States National Team goalkeeper Tony Meola will be at the Allstate
Fan Zone prior to the Seattle Sounders match versus Champions League winner Chelsea FC.
On Friday I got the chance to talk to Tony Meola on the phone for about 15 minutes as he was
driving around New Jersey.
If you are going to the Argentina V. USA game tonight bring your memorabilia to the game. Tony will
be outside in the AllState Fan Zone from 4-6 signing autographs, taking pictures, and kissing
babies.
By Dominika Gawron, Polish Futbolita Last Friday, my country witnessed the most important match in
its history Poland vs Greece. It was only the beginning and I don't even want to know how it will
end. The Polish roller-coaster ride has been crazy, fast....and sometimes beautiful all at the same
time!
The train from Warsaw was packed with Spanish supporters, although the wearing of Spanish club
shirts helped identify the locals.
Gdansk is unusual for Poland in that it doesn't have a square as it's centrepiece - it has Ulica
Dluga (The Long Market). It feels like another step back in time with merchant houses from the 17th
century lining both sides of the street.
Postcards from Poland: Euro 2012 Fan Diary #1 Opening Day observations is a post from: Just
Football
As a new running feature during Euro 2012 on Just
Football, Poland-based Patrick Ney of the blog Polandian will be writing
a fan diary with general social and cultural observations straight from the heart of the joint-host
nation.
Over the past few years OTP's affections for crazed commentators has stuck primarily with Italian
reporter Tiziano Crudeli, who reacts to goals as if he has scored it himself, won the lottery and
stepped on shattered glass. Tiziano provides a visual treat, but for pure audio exultation we may
have a new love interest.
In the last few major tournaments the Fan Zone has become a key attraction for ticketless
football fans, delivering enormous screens and a perimeter of unending beer vendors. Best of all it
makes for a pretty sensational video when a goal is scored. On this occasion, a reported 100,000
Poland fans welcomed in their team's first goal of [.
The two primary fears for Euro 2012 were racism and violence and while a group of Polish fans
initiated the racial abuse the day before the tournament started, some Russian fans kicked off the
violence on Friday.
Following Russia's 4-1 win over the Czech Republic, Russian fans attacked several stewards at
the Wroclaw Municipal Stadium.
Wow! What an opener! Euro 2012 started with a blast for sure, for all those who said that Group
A was the one to avoid because of boring games it was shock for sure. We started with short but
very colorful opening ceremony which ended with cracking mural in the stadium with all 16 flags of
the competing nations and words "Respect".
100,000 Poland fans react to the first goal of Euro 2012.
Robert Lewandowski (aka The Big Lewandowski) is the man who wrote his name in the
history books with the first goal of Euro 2012, not to mention a 1-0 lead over Greece. And what a
splendid finish it was. The atmosphere in the National Stadium was immense, but it couldn't compare
to the 100,000+ Poland fans who filled the Warsaw fan zone and went absolutely crazy.
The largest Euro 2012 Fan Zone can be found in Warsaw, a short walk across the Vistula River
from the National Stadium that hosted the tournament opener between Poland and Greece.
More than 100,000 Polish fans packed out Parade Square to watch the match on giant screens, and
the sheer scale of their reaction when Robert Lewandowski put the co-hosts ahead was truly
epic.
The games have opened within the last five minutes, but it's worth announcing the psychic
swine's predictions of undoubted prescience for the upcoming games:
The "psychic" pig promoted by European championship co-hosts Ukraine as a successor to Paul
the octopus made its first predictions about upcoming games on Friday, picking Poland and Russia as
winners.
This article titled "Euro 2012: Booze, brawls and corporate overload – the fan zone is back"
was written by Barney Ronay in Wroclaw, for The Guardian on Thursday 7th June 2012 16.50 UTC
Good news for Daniel Sturridge, who has made it to Euro 2012 after all – albeit only in
50ft‑high poster form.
With the games kicking off in less than 24 hours now, many fine upstanding young hooligans are
preparing for their days of glory. The fan zone could soon become a war zone, considering some of
the host cities have behavioral issues to say the least. The police, particularly those in Krakow,
have unfurled the whole bag of tricks to reveal video game-type tactics on the other end.
Proving that the only thing better than a cash cow is a psychic cash cow; here's your handy 'cut
out and keep' guide to Euro 2012′s ever-lengthening list of what we will reluctantly refer to as
'animal psychics'...
1. Funtik the Soothsayer Hog (Kiev Fan Zone, Ukraine)
This is a gimmick that should've died with Paul the 'Pus, and hopefully he tasted utterly
delicious for putting us through the next [large number here] tournaments with a psychic animal
which isn't really psychic at all.
The Ukraine took the bait this time around and will dazzle our minds with a psychic pig.
Postcard from Poland: Why Arsenal fans at Euro 2012 will feel right at home in Warsaw's
national stadium
England fans have been invited to the biggest Fan Zone in history at Euro 2012. Defilad Square
in the centre of Warsaw is ready to host up to 120,000 supporters from all over the continent
during next summer's month-long tournament.
Since the 22nd January, Liverpool with Kenny and Steve Clarke have taken an average of 2
points a game and a goal difference of plus 19. If the league had started on this date we would
have finished comfortable third. That was done with the Torres wanting/getting out and his
replacement Carroll arriving injured.

Next season is widely regarded as a new start by most Liverpool fans. Finally being rid of the
strain put on the club by previous owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett and a new breath of fresh
air being brought into the club by John Henry and FSG has been warmly welcomed at Anfield.

is theoretically barred from the world's second largest continent. This could easily be the story
of a villain in a bad ‘B' movie, though instead, is the story of Luis Suarez; the Uruguayan
striker spear-heading the new look Liverpool into a new era.

Player transfers were one of many things Liverpool managed poorly last summer, as Christian

In the 2006 January transfer window, Daniel Agger moved to Liverpool from Brondby for what was a
club record fee for a defender, at £5.8m. Agger made his Liverpool debut that February against
Birmingham City, a match which also saw the ‘second coming' of Robbie Fowler.

Liverpool's reds and blues supporters plan a joint Football Quarter
Will it be second time lucky for detailed proposals to spread the success of Liverpool and
Everton FCs into their needy surroundings? Supporters of Liverpool's rival clubs are having a
second go at a joint attempt to create a 'Football Quarter' between their famous stadia at Anfield
and Goodison Park.
