After what we've seen at this year's Africa Cup of Nations it's perhaps a little foolish to talk
in terms of more shocks. Why should we continue to be shocked when our predictions are continually
thrown back in our faces time after time?
Sudan became the latest side to upset the African apple cart when they qualified for the quarter
finals last night.
I lost a friend and a mentor on Monday when Bob Jordan passed away due to a heart attack. Bob,
and his efforts on behalf of first the Pershing Generals and later the Glendale Falcons, was the
impetus for my efforts here. Without his support and assistance, I would not have been able to pull
it off.
The District tournament will be held at Kickapoo High School, with a pair of play-in games on

After 110 minutes of play neither the Pioneers nor the Falcons could score a goal Saturday at
CIBER field at the University of Denver.
DU is now (2-4-3, 0-0-1 MPSF) and Air Force (6-2-1, 0-0-1 MPSF). Saturday's match was the opener
in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play for both sides.
Air Force women's soccer rallied to tie IUPUI, 2-2, Friday afternoon in opening day action at
the Crusader Classic at Eastgate Field.
The draw puts the Falcons at 4-5-1 on the season, while the Jaguars moved to 1-5-3.
Air Force got a pair of second-half goals to erase 1-0 and 2-1 deficits.
Brad Hilton scored the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute to lead the University of New
Hampshire men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Air Force Friday evening in the first round of
the Nike Fall Classic at Bremner Field.
The win lifts the Wildcats to 3-4 on the season, while the Falcons, who had their four-game
winning streak snapped, fell to 5-2.
John Melcher and Garrett Getschow each scored twice and the Air Force men's soccer team scored
three goals in the first seven-plus minutes as the Falcons won its fourth straight game with a 6-1
victory Sunday over Buffalo at Cadet Soccer Stadium.
The Falcons, off to their best start since 2001, improved to 5-1-o, while the Bulls fell to
4-3-1.
A pair of goals by Kailey Anders pushed Arkansas past Air Force, 2-1, Friday night at the Cadet
Soccer Stadium.
The loss drops the Falcons to 4-4-0 on the season, while the Razorbacks improved to 2-4-0.
Anders scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute, stopping a Falcon rally.
Brian Klazura scored in the first five minutes and Garrett Getschow and John Melcher each added
a second-half tally to lead the Air Force men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory Friday over College of
Charleston at Cadet Soccer Stadium.
With the win, Air Force's third straight, the Falcons improved to 4-1-0, while the Cougars fell
to 3-2-1.
Brian Klazura scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 80th minute, to lead the Air
Force men's soccer team to a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Duquesne on the final day of the
Pitt / Nike Invitational in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The Falcons captured the tournament title with a perfect 2-0 record and improved to 3-1 this
season, their best start since 2004.
Adams State College men's soccer has marked a lot of firsts in the team's brief history. On
Friday night, the Grizzlies grabbed several firsts as the team recorded its most goals, largest
margin of victory, first shutout and first visit to a .500 record.
Hawken Hanna scored the first goal and what would prove to be the game winner in the 6th minute
as the Grizzlies dominated the UT-Permian Basin Falcons, 4-0, at ASC Soccer Field.
The University of Northern Colorado finally found its way to the win column on Friday as the
Bears traveled to Colorado Springs and beat the Air Force Academy Falcons 1-0.
The lone score of the match came from Brittany Dunn in the 72nd minute. Dunn got to a ball near
the left corner of the box, spun around and sent one in to the right side of the net.
The Air Force men's soccer team scored four second-half goals en route to a 5-2 victory over
Houston Baptist in both teams' regular season opener Saturday evening at Sorrels Field.
Sophomore Brian Klazura had a goal and two assists while senior John Melcher and junior Kevin
Durr each added one goal and one assist.
congopress Nigeria: Football Crisis is Costing Us Laurels - Sports Minister -
http://allafrica.com/stories... 5 hours ago from AllAfrica News: Latest - Comment - Like New
minister of sports and chairman National Sports Commission (NSC), Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, has
attributed the failure of the Super Falcons at the just concluded FIFA World Cup held in Germany,
the non qualification of the Dream Team V and their women counterpart for the forthcoming 10th All
African Games in Maputo as well as the inability of the country's U-17 football team, Golden
Eaglets to reach the last African Youth Championship and the World Cup held in Rwanda and Mexico
respectively to the crises in Nigerian football administration.
Nigeria made a quick exit from the Women's World Cup falling to Simone Laudehr's 64th minute toe
poke through traffic. The defending champions had numerous chances but were unsettled by the
physical Super Falcons. However, Germany kept their composure and in the second half Celia Okoyino
Da Mbabi's free kick (she's half Nigerian) led to a goalmouth fracas ending in Laudehr's
strike.
I fell in love with the Super Falcons during the 2008 Olympics, watching them slug out the ultimate
group-of-death: Germany, Brazil, Nigeria and North Korea. None of the games in that tournament were
as exciting as those Nigeria played in this group.
Nevertheless, Nigeria didn't make it past that stage.
Well, I'm not in Germany. I know this because even though the country I'm in (France) has a good
team in the World Cup, and even though that team was on the cover of more than a few of the weekend
papers and Sunday magazines, no one cares that they scored the tournament's first goal in a win
over Nigeria.
