I've refrained from commenting on the Ledley King fiasco until now but another day of bullshit
from The Sun and Daily Mail has compelled me to. All these magical quotes and new witnesses that
are appearing day after day are quite astounding.
Most people I know would retaliate if a fat head bouncer grappled them into some kind of full
nelson on a night out.

After the game at Camp Nou, Barcelona are furious at the referees. They are accusing Chelsea of
negative approach, lots of tactical fouls, that referee Stark overlooked. Coach Balugrane
Pep Guardiola thinks that his team was damaged by the referees and that such
details can decide duels in the closing stages of the competition.

More racism in Italy.
Turns out Juventus fans were deriding Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli. As a punishment, the
Turin-based club will play a home game behind closed doors.
A Black Italian does not exist...
Just a sample of what the idiotic fans would chant at the 18 year old.

Kelly Smith is apparently writing a weekly column for The Daily Mail about her WPS soccer
experiences. Here's an excerpt from last week's piece:
There's so much to learn because everything is so new and we don't really know each other's
playing styles or strengths and weaknesses at the moment.

Van Persie - Opened the scoring, set up nicely by Adebayor who broke the offside trap, collecting a
pass from Cesc. Van Persie added a 2nd (Arsenal's 3rd) early in the 2nd half. Great finishing
(8).
Adebayor - Had the assist for the winner. Scored a header from a corner, heading it into the
ground, the ball bouncing off the underside of the crossbar and in.

Good morning everybody. It's a busy day of soccer, especially with many Americans in action,
so if you're watching a game, this is the place to discuss it. Even if you're following
Freddy Adu on ESPN Soccernet, you can talk about it here. If he's American, and he's playing,
it's fair game. If you're an [.

A new coach, several new players, new tactical systems...so I figured it was time for another
team building exercise.
I can't resist this picture. It's Lyon to a T.
Between friendlies and the first few competitive games, we've gotten a vague idea about the kind
of team Puel wants to form - tactically organized, defensively solid, players sticking to their
roles (as opposed to last season, where players would be out of position all the time).

The USWNT kicks off against Japan tomorrow morning at 5AM ET and will (hopefully) field a team with
its heads screwed on more securely than on Wednesday! I like to think that Wednesday's game was a
collective test, to see whether "Boom Ball" really doesn't work. Lesson learned, guys?

The inevitable has finally happened, England's No.1 as we affectionately called him for years has
been sold to Blackburn Rovers for a fee of £3.5m.
After his 'mistake' for England against Croatia he was never the same keeper for us or the national
side. Now you can say he should have been man enough to get over it and get on with the job at hand
but he was completely hounded by the press and the fans from then on.

Here's Cindy McCain speaking about "the only way to get around in Arizona." (This is way
too easy ... I think I'm starting to feel a tad mean-spirited and guilty.) I'll get over it,
though. Mark Zeigler writes from San Diego about tonight's USWNT vs. Brazil match-up ... the second
this week. On [.
