Diego Milito's quadruple known as a 'poker' against Palermo was a rare moment, in fact it was only
the sixth time it's happened in ten years, but with Italy's final friendly before Euro 2012 looming
it focused the eyes on the Azzurri's frontline. The Argentinian's four-step sent him into a comic
book group that features ‘the little plane', Vincenzo Montella, twinkle-toes Christian.
The big freeze hit Italy during midweek as four games were called off, so only six games were
played over Wednesday and Thursday. Inter's 4-4 home draw with Palermo was the pick of the action
where Diego Milito and Fabrizio Miccoli shared seven out of the eight goals. AC Milan slipped away
at Lazio. Here are the five top goals of the week 5.
Snow storms in Italy have caused postponements, rescheduling and general annoyance to Serie A
fixtures over recent days. Though Inter and Palermo were able to play their match at the San Siro
on Wednesday, snow removal was a battle.
Inter's Joel Obi discovered exactly where the groundskeepers put all the snow when he
hopped/fell over an advertising board after chasing down a ball by the touchline.

At least for 2011-12.
Having already played once this season to raucous applause, Palermo and Inter danced once again
at the San Siro today amidst the snow. Their first meeting was nice, Palermo snatching a 4-3
victory and giving neutrals the joyous gift of 7 goals. Tonight they did one better collectively a
4-4 draw, taking their tally for the year to an utterly absurd 15 goals.
Sunday afternoon we have a very entertaining clash in Sicily where Lazio manager Delio Rossi
returns to his old stomping ground bringing his new Fiorentina squads to the stadio Barbara. Delio
Rossi recently took over at the helm at the Viola after Sinisa Miahjlovic was sacked during the
international week.
by serieaweekly writer Matthew Coccoluto With the international break over, means it's time for the
European domestic leagues including Italian Serie A to get back in action. Juventus will welcome
Palermo on Sunday with the hosts coming off of an extended break. Due to their last game against
Napoli being postponed, it has been an astonishing 21 days since Juventus beat Inter at the San.
Champions AC Milan are back to their brilliant best after an utterly dominant 3-0 victory against
Palermo. Massimiliano Allegri stated prior to the match that Milan had to "get three points" above
all else, but what he got was far more important. Accomplished performances from the midfield new
boys Nocerino and Alberto Aquilani, a stunning comeback from Brazilian Robinho, doubts over
Antonio.
Few would have thought before the season started that come round 6 Milan would enter the match
against Palermo in 15th place on the table while the Sicilians – Javier Pastore-less – would be
sitting pretty in fourth. But, so it is after the club's worst start to the Serie A since 1997. Max
Allegri [.
There has been some cracking action in Serie A in midweek and there was a couple of upsets
including Novara beating Inter Milan and then end of Gian Piero Gasperini reign at Inter Milan.
Cesena 1-2 Lazio Lazio came back from a goal down with two goals in the 2nd half to end a dramatic
few days for everyone aligned with Lazio.
The Serie A season is finally underway and with it comes the hopes, expectations, and dreams for
all clubs in Italy's top flight. Everything seems a little brighter with the promises of what can
happen but when everything falls apart after the first match, that light is much dimmer than
before. Preseason only garnered more questions than answers in regards to Inter manager Gian Piero
Gasperini's.
Frustrated Forlan alongside triumphant Miccoli
The Serie A has been dominated by the two main Milanese clubs for a bit more than half a decade.
While they have had some testing competition by the likes of Roma and Juventus, the past ten years
have seen AC Milan or Inter Milan win the scudetto seven times.

Pre-Match Heading into Sunday night's affair, both Palermo and Inter had been making headlines for
negative reasons. Palermo has just relieved Stefano Pioli of his coaching duties before the Serie A
season even began, and Inter coach Gian Piero Gasperini was under heavy criticism for his use of a
3-4-3 system that did not fit the players that he had at his disposal.
It was an eventful start to the new Serie A season in Italy with champions AC Milan coming from
behind to gain a useful point at home to Lazio whilst local rivals Internazionale were defeated in
an amazing game by four goals to three away at Palermo. Juventus were the big winners of the
weekend when putting AC Parma to the sword by four goals to one in the first official league match
played at their new Juventus Arena stadium.
This is another news type article, just wanted to ask you guys how often you would like to see
them. Maybe daily, or every two or three days, let me know.
- La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Chelsea's Andre Villas-Boas is interested
in Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi.
On Sunday evening just gone past 5pm and it was confirmed that Sampdoria was relegated to Serie B
after losing 2-1 at home to Palermo. It was just twenty years ago they were Serie A champions and
only just ten months ago they were playing in the premier European club competition against Werder
Bremen in the fourth qualifying round of the Champions League.
There was much anticipation in the week leading up to Sunday's match against Cesena. An
unsuccessful run of only one victory in four games saw Zamparini bring back the greatest coach in
Palermo's Serie A history in Delio Rossi. Naturally, the entire city and the players welcomed the
beloved tactician back with open arms.
That was a bit lucky. Considering how many Chelsea players underperformed – Lampard, Essien,
Malouda (the footballing schizophrenic, either incredible or seemingly drunk), Anelka, Torres
Chelsea somehow ground out a win. Torres was ever so slightly better, but there is still work to be
done.
by guest writer Liam Apicella Champions League hunting Palermo will be hoping that they have no
more early kick offs for the remainder of the season. For the fourth time in four consecutive
12:30pm starts, the Rosanero have slipped to defeat, on this occasion it was visiting Fiorentina
who were the beneficiaries.
Milan-Parma Make no mistake about it, if Milan are to win the scudetto this season, it is games
such as these that will be decisive. The table-topping side has dropped points the last two games
and allowed Inter right back into the race, with Napoli hovering a mere three points below as well.
Parma however secured a draw at home to Fiorentina last matchday thank to new arrival Amauri.

In which Palermo striker Fabrizio Miccoli singularly fails to hold back the flood after netting
a wonderfully whipped free-kick against his boyhood club Lecce...
Having scored against the love of his life, Miccoli then had to be substituted at half-time with
Rosanero coach Delio Rossi telling journalists that the diminutive forward was 'absolutely
inconsolable' at the though of 'injuring' Lecce's survival chances.
With all of Serie A's top teams failing to secure three points this round, it looked like Juventus
had the chance to jump right back into the race for Champions League qualification. But even their
most inspired performance of 2011 was not enough on the day. Palermo jumped ahead of a lackluster
Juventus with two goals in the first 20 minutes.
Fabrizio Miccoli and Antonio Nocerino combining with Matia Cassini put Palermo two goals up.
Inter's defending bordered on the ludicrous with Maicon looking a pale imitation. That was before
Giampaolo Pazzini newly bought from Sampdoria took matters into his hands. Both goals were the
result of impeccable goal poaching instincts in front of goal.
Inter Milan 3-2 Palermo ( Giampaolo Pazzini*2, Samuel Eto'o/ Fabrizio Miccoli, Antonio Nocerino)
January 30, 2011- Serie A Giampaolo Pazzini starts his league career for Inter with two goals as
the Nerazzurri produce an excellent comeback to beat Palermo 3-2 in Serie A. Palermo for the record
lead 2-0 at half time.
