after they beat QPR 2-1 after extra time. Steve Logan in action last night The Newcastle lads

A ruthless ten minute bombardment saw this determined group of United youngsters stun their
opponents into submission just before the break at The Liberty Stadium in Swansea on Thursday
night. With this tricky looking fixture away from home and key players missing from the squad, the
game was far from a foregone conclusion, but an [.
Renowned for never doing things the easy way, Manchester United's U18′s had to produce a
performance of quality and strength to overcome a Derby County side boasting England U17
internationals, in-form strikers and a notable physical advantage not to mention the early
initiative with an opening goal on 20 minutes.

Manchester City's U18s whupped their Swindon Town counterparts 4-1 in the FA Youth Cup last
night, with the game playing host to a trio of excellent (for one reason or another) goals.
After going two-nil up early on, City's third goal started the ball rolling when a 25-pass

Good stuff this. For the archive.
How often does an FA Youth Cup game get national coverage?
I'm not talking ages old clips of a young Wayne Rooney or David Beckham or John Terry replayed
in some 'before they were famous' programme while non-entity talking heads try to be witty, I mean
actual coverage of the events of a game.

Some time ago I wrote an article slightly jokingly about the vines that Arsene had planted and
how we were now seeing them produce some wonderful fruits. A few months on and with another
trophyless season under the belt there is a serious question to be asked.
So? What did we learn at Bramall Lane last Tuesday night? Well, I think we learnt that after
disposing of Aston Villa in the semi-final we were right not to underestimate Sheffield United's
young Blades. Did United's players underestimate them? I don't think so. But, I do believe they
were a tad shocked when they woke up from the dead after thirty five minutes!
The most startling stat surrounding the 1st leg of this FA Youth Cup final is that more than
29,977 expectant fans turned up to watch the match. The attendance is even more startling given
that it's Sheffield United's highest gate of the season (yes, including all competitions at all
levels) beating the previous highest by fully 6,000 (cue the chant "Come to see United, you've only
come to see United.
A record 19 League titles, another record 11 FA Cups and with a great chance of lifting a tenth FA
Youth Cup which will keep Manchester United ahead of Arsenal on seven. How can anyone possibly
argue...

So ends a great run for the youth team.
It was a fun ride, but the youth team crashed out of the Youth Cup last night after apparently
forgetting to turn up for the second leg of the semifinal. The scoreline is a little harsh on the
boys, but the usual desire seemed to be missing.
While you are watching the first-teamers take on the Brummies at the Bridge tomorrow, please
spare a thought for the youth boys as they play the second leg of the FA Youth Cup semifinal
against the Mancs.
Or, you can try to multitask like me put the first team on the television and mute it, then pull
up Chelsea TV on the laptop to watch the Youth Cup.
So, amidst all this furor over some matches against Manchester United in this little tournament
called the Champions League, there was the exciting matter of the FA Youth Cup semifinal.
I hope some of you were able to watch the match, as the kids were much more exciting and
inspiring to watch than the first team have been lately.
The Youth team has just kicked off against the Mancs at Stamford Bridge.
Can the young guys give us a bit of good news against the Red Devils? Young Josh is captain as
Danny Pappoe is still suspended after a red card in a reserves match against Blackpool a couple
weeks ago.
The good news is that Yossi Benayoun played 20 minutes for Israel yesterday, Alex has returned
to full training with the squad, and it seems that our first teamers emerged unscathed from the
international break.
The bad news is that one of our star players in the Youth Cup run, Billy Clifford, injured his
knee in training yesterday.
This is what you get when you Google "Steven Gerrard sunglasses."
The reasons for doing so may not be illuminated in the end.
There's just so, so much potential out there today. A European home leg coming up, the second
leg of the first elimination round, tied nil-nil. A soft, vulnerable West Ham on the weekend, a
side that even under Roy Hodgson Liverpool blew the doors off back in the fall.
The Newcastle United U18 side was knocked out of the FA Youth Cup last night by the Red Devils in

Sterling pounds Southend Fresh from his appearance in OTP's Ten Premier League stars of the future
list, Liverpool youngster Raheem Sterling proved precisely why he had been included with a
five-goal haul in his side's 9-0 FA Youth Cup demolition of Southend United. Granted Sterling will
probably face tougher challenges in his career than The [.
You stay classy, blogoland.
Polls polls polls, poley poley polls, I love polls...
No, wait, that could be taken the wrong way. Unless it being taken the wrong way doubles our
traffic. Because I'm a real whore when it comes to hits...
Wait, no, that sounds pretty bad, too.
The next match of the FA Youth Cup for our U18 side is rapidly approaching, as the date for the
fifth round has finally been announced!
The youth boys will take on Barnsley on Friday, February 11th at Stamford Bridge at 7pm GMT
here's hoping for another turnout of 7,000 fans!
Chelsea manager donates to Help the Aged It will please Chelsea fans that Carlo Ancelotti is
interested in the youth players that his club is bringing through, and that the Italian manager
wanted to take in the FA Youth Cup game between his side and Arsenal. Ancelotti was, however, put

Truly Reds needs your help. While doing a Google image search I came across this photo of the 1982
