Fabricio Coloccini as expected is back in the starting line-up for Newcastle at Ewood Park

As Blackburn Rovers languish towards the bottom of the Premier League, manager Steve Kean
continues to be backed by the club's Indian owners: The Venkys Group. Despite the current trend in
the game of sacking underperforming managers prematurely, fan protests outside Ewood Park and the
total inexperience of Scottish coach Steve Kean at this level, Kean still remains on the Lancashire
side's bench.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa are waiting in the wings to make a move for Blackburn defender
Scott Dann before the transfer window closes according to skysports.com.
The 24-year-old has made 11 Barclays Premier League starts for Steve Kean's struggling side this
season, prior to picking up a groin injury just before the busy festive period.
Everton keeper Tim Howard became only the fourth keeper in Premier League
history to score a goal when he scored last night against Bolton in their 2-1 defeat at Goodison
Park. The Other three are:
Peter Schmeichel for Aston Villa v Everton in 2001 at Goodison Park.
Maxi Rodriguez could be set for a landmark 50th league appearance for Liverpool if he is selected
for the Boxing Day clash with Blackburn Rovers.
Here are more facts and stat ahead of the festive showdown courtesy of Ged Rea.
Head to head: (League only)At Anfield: Liverpool 38 wins, Blackburn 9 wins, 16 Draws.
Dirk Kuyt is aiming to deliver the perfect Christmas present to Kopites on Monday and help maintain
Liverpool's push for a top-four finish.
The Reds play host to Blackburn Rovers in the traditional Boxing Day fixture - and Kuyt is
determined to provide some festive cheer to supporters.
"We all want to be happy and get the three points, especially on Boxing Day," the Dutchman told
Liverpoolfc.
Why we should all feel sorry for Steve Kean
Say what you like about Steve Kean, but the man has got big balls. I wrote in this column a
couple of weeks ago that I thought he should go and, with only seven wins from 37 games in charge,
my feelings haven't changed even though I am told he is held in high regard in the dressing
room.

It was billed as a match in which the losing manager would get fired, and if that is the case
then it will be a much happier Christmas in the Coyle household this season than the Kean one as
Bolton beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 in a relegation six pointer.
The result means Blackburn replace Bolton at the foot of the Premier League, and Rovers will be
bottom at Christmas with only one team avoiding relegation from that position.

Blackburn Rovers have been hit with a massive blow on the injury front after defender Scott Dann

bottom in the table after 16 games.

The absence of the top five or six clubs from much of the schedule for yesterday's Premier
League fixtures may have meant that the eyes of many may have drifted towards the bottom of the
table instead. As has been the case for the previous couple of seasons, the bottom half of the
Premier League table is starting to look rather congested, with just six points separating the team
in tenth place in the table from the relegation places.

Blackburn Rovers 1-2 West Bromwich Albion Premier League 17th December 2011
The Venky's support for Steve Kean has shown little sign of weakening this season, at least from
the outside. However, behind the doors of the boardroom at Ewood Park, the Indian chicken overlords
must surely be concerned after yet another league defeat for Blackburn.

Blackburn Rovers vs West Brom from Ewood Park, Blackburn
Last weekend ended up being a real kick in the teeth for Blackburn and manager Steve Kean, who were
winning 1-0 away at Sunderland up until the 84th minute when they conceded two late goals losing
2-1 in Martin O'Neill's debut at the Stadium of Light.
CPC: Click, Protest, Complain Premier League strugglers Blackburn Rovers have obviously decided
there's not enough people on Steve Kean's back on Ewood Park matchdays at present. Rovers have
launched a Google Adwords advertising campaign offering cut-price tickets for the forthcoming
matches against Swansea, West Brom and Bolton.
all'Etihad Stadium e al DW Stadium .
Ewoodstock Blackburn Rovers' owners aimed to take the stung out of their supporters' anger by
hosting a free R&B concert for them at the start of the season. Fans were already angry at the
performance of owners Venky's and manager Steve Kean before their appalling start to the current
campaign. Now The Guardian has seen [.
So Steve Kean at least avoided the ignominy of becoming the Premier League's first coach to be
sacked thi season. Poor old Steve Bruce has taken that title for him.
But with Rovers propping up the rest of the division and slung out of the Carling Cup by Cardiff in
midweek, most managers in Kean's position would be nervously awaiting a phone call from the
chairman.
Vedran Corluka's requests for first team football had spread around the teamRight, call off all the
bets. The season's as good as over and the title is ours. As if any further proof were needed that
this year's Spurs are made of different, more robust stuff than previous incarnations, this weekend
provided further evidence that we are indeed, as Herman's Hermits said, into something good.
Liverpool is leading the hunt for Blackburn's defensive colossus Chris Samba.
The ambitious Rovers star has switched agents after failing to secure a move away from Ewood Park
last summer.
And Liverpool have been alerted to the fact he remains keen on leaving the struggling Ewood Park
club.
There is no doubting just how tough the Blackburn boss has had it since being appointed manager
last season. The media have insinuated that underhanded tactics were involved to remove his
predecessor with Kean waiting in the wings as heir apparent; the fans have become disillusioned
with both his tactics and transfer policy, and they have now grown exasperated by his bullish
refusal bow to the virtually continual protests against his tenure.
letrero.

Let's be honest here, it wasn't our best performance, but at Blackburn it was never going to be.
There were boos at the end from the Ewood Park fans, but you have to hold your hands up and say on
another day, they could have had at least a point.
AVB chose to bring Alex back into the starting line up next to JT with Ivanovic moving to right
back in place of Bosingwa and for the most part it worked.
They say a picture is worth a 1,000 words. Case in point:
Road warrior
Battered, bloodied, and fairly rubbish. No matter. Chelsea still manage to hold on for a
much-needed win at Ewood Park, 1-0, over a Blackburn Rovers side that probably deserved a
point.
Remember, remember, the fifth of November.
boats n hoes
Remember? None of us are likely to forget this fifth of November if Chelsea somehow fail to win
for a third successive game. A loss our third straight in the league and, well, Andre Villas-Boas
will be remembering the good ol' days back in Portugal.

Newcastle United vs Everton from St. James' Park, Newcastle
Credit must be given to Alan Pardew and his back room staff at Newcastle United for the tremendous
season they're having. Quietly gone about their business, the magpies currently sit third after
their win at Stoke on Monday night.

Anti-Steve Kean protests have almost become part of the Premier League experience at Ewood Park
this season. With the club currently struggling in 18th place in the table, and having won just six
league games out of 31 under Kean's stewardship, Rovers' fans are desperate for a change.

A 120th-minute Gael Givet header saw Blackburn pip Newcastle at the death of the death to nab
themselves a spot in the Carling Cup's last eight at Ewood Park last night though, if it's any
consolation (it's not), the Toon did score the two best goals of the night in Danny Guthrie's low,
25-yard zinger (2:18 mark) and Yohan Cabaye's picture perfect free-kick (2:29).
Newcastle had a few penalty appeals last night turned down, that manager Alan Pardew seems to think
should have gone Newcastle's way. Alan Pardew at Ewood Park last night Referee Robert Madley
awarded Blackburn a penalty after 64 minutes after Tim Krul had run out for a 50-50 ball and
kicked it away, but [.
