Owens scores as Man Utd wins in Carlingv Cup

Manchester United's second string overcame the dismissal of Gary Neville to march into the last eight of the Carling Cup thanks to goals in each half from Danny Welbeck and Michael Owen to beat Barnsley 2-0.

Welbeck headed home Anderson's corner while unmarked in the fifth minute and Owen's neat finish just before the hour-mark put the holders in the clear in front of a sell-out crowd at Oakwell.

Megson Hoping to Sign Two More Midfielders for Bolton Wanderers

Bolton Wanderers are reported to be making a double midfield swoop for Aurélien Capoue and Miguel Ángel Angulo.

The French 27 year old, Aurélien Capoue, was almost certainly going to Blackburn Rovers, on loan from Nantes for a season. Now it looks like Bolton's manager, Gary Megson is in direct competition with former Bolton boss, Sam Allardyce.

Another week, another set of additions to the Manchester City strikeforce. This week it was Carlos Tévez & Emmanuel Adebayor who made the move to Eastlands, swapping Big Four unhappiness for Big Four hopefulness for a combined fee of around £50m.

Tévez has a knack of endearing himself to fans of just about every club he plays for (and he is onto his fifth now, at the age of 25), and he wasted no time in firing a broadside at his former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, rubbishing the Manchester United manager's claims that he had done his utmost to keep the Argentinean at Old Trafford, and criticising his communication methods.

They are tied with KC, Toronto, and Seattle for 5th in goals scored and they are 4th in goals allowed. Everyone is chasing Chivas who has 19 points and has only allowed 3 goals (one to the Rapids).
