After missing out on the title and finishing on the same points as City last season, United have run away with it this season, going in to derby day with the potential of going 18 points clear.
After beating City away from home, as well as picking up wins against the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool, United have proven beyond any question which team is the best this season, and it's unlikely that we will need to rely on goal difference to be named champions.
So how are we doing? An updated comparison against last year.

We're at 9 games played now and in follow up to the earlier article I wrote comparing this year to the equivalent fixtures last season I have added a little twist. I have added in the result for game 10 from [.
I spent too long on Monday explaining how little as fans we really know our team. Instead I
tried to emphasize the anomaly that the club is, in a league of slightly predictable anomalies.
We know what Man United is. We know that when we look at the parts of the machine, there are few
players in that team we would like over ours.

I have to admit that I naively raised an eyebrow yesterday when Roberto Mancini, chasing a
much-needed win at Newcastle, took off attacking midfielder Samir Nasri for defensive midfielder
Nigel De Jong. In the end this turned out to be the masterstroke that won City the game, and
possibly the league title.

The transfer window finally kick started this week Aston Villa made sure it wouldn't be a dull
one, but what does the less glamorised move of David Wheater from Boro to Bolton mean for the
next 11 days of the market? Having signed for an initial £2.3m, Wheater steps into a defence that
is predominantly English, with Zat Knight and Gary Cahill established at Trotters rear, in front of
the eternally youthful Jaaskelainen.

Everton and Liverpool meet at Goodison Park as part of Super Sunday for the 219th Merseyside derby. The two clubs are famously separated by less than a mile across Stanley Park and have long been fierce rivals. Everton and Liverpool renew rivalries this weekend as the two Merseyside clubs come together in the Premier League, with the first derby of the season taking place at Goodison Park.
Always a fiery fixture, the match has produced more red cards over the Premiership years than any other game (21 so far) but is always an excellent spectacle, regardless of location or how the two sides are faring in the league at the time of the match.

Over the last few weeks, we have had in-depth discussions about whether we need to strengthen
our midfield this summer, as well as how we should fit in our freshly signed strikers, Giroud and
Podolski. Clearly, these are areas we can all get very excited about, but the area we have not been
talking about for a while is our 49 PL-goals leaking defence.

Yes, a post not solely on Liverpool. I actually have them in me now and then.
The Premier League has been rife with managerial gossip over the last few months, as the league
always seems to be. Mick McCarthy was recently fired after five-and-a-half seasons in charge of
Wolves. Martin O'Neill and Mark Hughes replaced Bruce and Warnock at Sunderland and QPR in December
and January.
There are plenty of opportunities to watch the Men of the MNT in action with their clubs this
