Albert Riera believes that Liverpool will be able to challenge for all four trophies that they are competing for this season after joining the club at the end of the transfer window.

The former Espanyol winger knows that expectations at Anfield are high and is confident that the current squad has the ability to try and win the quadruple this term. Click to continue reading...

Europe’s 10 Most Overpriced Transfers; Or: Prem Transfer Roundup.

18
Sadly, we could've turned this thing into an all-Prem list, but did our best to look elsewhere. Didn't turn out so well. The problem is so many sums paid in the Premiership dwarf that of those in other leagues - Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue 1, etc. - that it can make their normally [...] Click to continue reading...

Everton’s New Signing: The Incredible £15m Unibrow

10
Even at Standard de Liege, Marouane Fellaini was probably making some decent scratch. Like enough to have that thing between his eyes taken care of professionally. Now that he's hit the limelight as Everton's record signing and the most expensive Belgian ever, he may want to bump it up the list. At least give it [. Click to continue reading...

We're bad. We're worldwide.

We have 50 World Cup qualifiers Saturday, plus a handful Friday and Sunday, as we welcome Europe to the mix and start the last group stage in Asia. We even have a crucial qualifier in Oceania as New Zealand visits New Caledonia. First challenge is figuring out where New Caledonia is.

Riera: Don't Judge Me On City Spell

0
Albert Riera today vowed to prove his worth at Anfield and insisted fans shouldn't judge him on his last spell in English football with Manchester City.

On the day Rafael Benitez unveiled his deadline day signing to the media at Melwood, Riera insisted his game has developed during the three years he has since spent in Spain - and now he can't wait to make an impact on Merseyside. Click to continue reading...

Would You Rather Your Club Had a Billionaire Owner or a Good Manager?

4
The events of the last few days point pretty clearly to one thing: the end of the football manager. Alan Curbishley quit because West Ham sold players without his consent, Kevin Keegan may or may not be about to do the same thing. In the age of billionaire businessman owners and/or sporting directors, managers just don't [. Click to continue reading...

Quotes of the Week

1
"The story of me being locked in the toilet by Tiago is true. It's a shame it got out, as this was something I told a friend in confidence. In any case, Alessandro Del Piero responded to the noise of me punching the door and offered to break it down."

Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli on Tiago's reaction after the Serie A club tried to encourage him to sign for Everton or Monaco.

Top 11 Football Rejects: Ronaldo, Ljungberg, Appiah, Canizares and Davids lead the way

30
So, the transfer deadline (August 31) has passed and the football market is now closed. Closed? Not quite. Indeed, while transfers from one club to another will have to wait until January to resume, teams may still sign players as free agents (and that until March 31, 2009). So, inspired from this Top 11 Serie A [. Click to continue reading...

Rafael Benitez Defends Tactics For Aston Villa Game

1
LIVERPOOL manager Rafael Benitez has defended his tactics at Aston Villa.

The Anfield side gained a creditable point from a goalless draw with Martin O'Neill's team.

But the use of striker Robbie Keane out wide on the left provoked a lot of comment.

However Benitez insists it was the right decision. Click to continue reading...

Jose Baxter - Everton

0
I first saw Jose Baxter as a substitute for Leon Osman in the second half in a defeat to Portsmouth. I had a little surprise when i heard the commentator mentioned that Jose Baxter is 16 years old. Wow, still 16. He is Everton FC's youngest player ever in the senior team. Good exposure for the [...] Click to continue reading...

Liverpool and Everton signings - analysis

7
I don't really know too much about either player that Liverpool and Everton signed on the transfer deadline day, but I'll give my comments based upon what I've read.

Liverpool seemed to get the player they wanted in Albert Riera, a left winger who should provide a lot of ammunition for Fernando Torres, Robbie Keane, and the rest of Liverpool's goal scorers. Click to continue reading...

Saha passes medical? Plus World Cup Qualifiers Start Saturday

0

This headline, Saha becomes a Toffee after passing Everton medical, struck me as curious: how did Saha pass a medical?

I, for one, really hope his injuries are behind him for good - can you imagine? When he's in form he is a cracking striker, and I'd love to see him hit the heights for France.

Peter Reid Becomes New Manager of…Thailand??

0
Here's one of those random news stories we read about every season: Born in the same Liverpool suburb as current well-known midfielders Steven Gerrard and Joey Barton, Peter Reid had a solid playing career, most notably at Bolton, Everton, and Manchester City. He won the FA Cup and old First Division twice (both at Everton). Click to continue reading...

Everton's last-minute blockbuster

2

Just when it seemed Everton's biggest splash in the transfer window would be oft-injured forward Louis Saha, the club landed Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini from Standard Liege for 18.5 million euros. That pales in comparison to the deals in Manchester at the deadline, but it's still a club record.

Arsenal REJECTS Loan Offer For Teen Star

4
Arsenal have reportedly rejected Cardiff City's attempts to take former midfielder Aaron Ramsey on loan. The highly-rated 17-year-old moved to the Emirates in a £5million deal earlier in the summer after spurning offers from Manchester United and Everton. Although the teenager could be used in the Carling Cup - if, as expected, Arsene Wenger sticks to his [. Click to continue reading...

Shoud the transfer window close before the season starts?

2
Few noticed last week when Juande Ramos called for a shortening of the transfer window, but the nuclear fallout from Monday's race to the finish seems to support his argument. Prior to Monday, Robinho had been settling in nicely at for another season at Real Madrid, Kevin Keegan was sorting out his first proper [. Click to continue reading...

Tiago Mendes Definitely Didn’t Want to Play for Everton

3
This truly is the age of player power. Not just because players can demand high wages and pretty much force transfers whenever they feel like it, but because apparently players can now lock club presidents in the toilet and get away with it. That's what happened at Juventus recently. The club had set up a deal [. Click to continue reading...

Chelsea ‘fans’ defect to Man City

The Premiership woke up this morning to a lot of excitement. Top 10 Transfer Deadline Talking Points

1. Manchester City as a new superpower When Blues fans woke up yesterday morning they cannot have been expecting the rollercoaster day ahead. Round Up Of The Final Transfer Day Deals - Newcastle Get Gonzalez, Everton Sign Fellaini

2
Only about two transfer deals that happened late last night, obviously apart from Berbatov and Robinho. The first was the only real major signing from Everton - spending £13 million for Belgium international central-midfielder Marouane Fellaini from Standard Liege. Newcastle United brought in another player from La Liga, signing Ignacio Gonzalez on a season-long loan deal [. Click to continue reading...

Boyu Kadar Bonservis

Click to continue reading...
