There was no surprise because there couldn't have been one. This is the level of the Polish
national team currently and the sooner we realize that the less frustrated we'll be. No miracle was
on the cards as six of our starters were from the Ekstraklasa, a league that doesn't even have its
representative in the Euro Cup group round (Moldova has, Austria has four).

Zidane was set to play a charity tribute game in Vancouver Saturday, though it seems he will
have to sit this one out. He suffered a back injury after picking up his kid as they watched the
fireworks display on Canada Day in Vancouver.
Fans from all over the Vancouver area have tickets to see the French living soccer legend,
though without Zidane the game must go on.

In the 2004 Euro Cup tournament Greece surprised everyone when their workmanlike and well-coached
team made it all the way to the finals and managed to defeat the host nation Portugal to win the
whole shebang. Their uniforms for 2004 were mostly an afterthought. They were almost a
straight-off-the-rack job with a Greek flag and some numbers slapped on.

There was a time when Celtic played Real Madrid, Juventus or even Notts Forest back in the old
European Cup. I know I was at all the home games. Two games home and away and winners go through.
Tense, exciting stuff.
Now like others we play Manchester United, Barcelona and co every year, in a Group stage, devised
so the top teams can get through every year and get more money to buy more players to do it all
again the next year.

Torres (has to be him, he's the only blondie on the Spanish team) responds, "Idiot! Don't you
know the Fury is ageless?" as he carts away the Euro Cup.

The "biscuits" are only Scandinavian. The miracle of bern repeats itself, but this time
it is Italian and not German, like in the 1954 World Cup. Italy gets rid of the Portuguese
nightmare and advances to the second round. Italy was great against France and while they beat the
French team coached by Domenech 2-0, something they have not done in regular time since the 1978
World Cup, The Netherlands beat Romania 2-0, allowing us to advance to the quarterfinals that will
be played on Sunday, the 22nd, in Vienna, against Spain.

The score was 1-1 in Zurich. A good Italy, that is not able to beat Romania despite dominating the

minutes Buffon was able to black a penalty kick by Mutu after a foul that only the referee saw, the
same referee that in the first half had annulled a regular goal to Luca Toni.
