THFC1882 welcomes another guest writer on board. This time it's Glen Bocking.
Glen is an Essex boy but now lives in Stoke so is handily placed to attend this game. Glen's first
Spurs memories are the '91 FA Cup semi and final! Great start to his Spurs watching!

Back in November of 1995, with 3,500 fans crammed into a tiny ground two metres below sea-level
in the Thames estuary, non-league Canvey Island (a team of 'postmen, brickies and bouncers'
playing in the first round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history) held Division Three
side Brighton & Hove Albion at Park Lane thanks to an 84th-minute equaliser from Alan Brett with
Brighton 'keeper Nicky Rust pulling of a desperate, clawing save in the dying moments to keep the
Essex part-timers from nicking a dramatic victory.
Some good twitter reaction and quotes from various footballers following our 3-1 win over QPR. The
best discovered ones below:

"Right am off now, mental preparation begins.
Why do so many English football fans hate their national team?
What do you think of when you read the phrase ‘England fans'? An overweight man from Essex
wearing fake Burberry gear, snarling and looking like he's just returned from a BNP rally? Or
perhaps St George flags flapping from numerous vehicles as people claim an impending World Cup
victory.
Spurs and Villa fans, prepare for shame Tottenham duo Aaron Lennon and Tom Huddlestone, and Aston
Villa's Ashley Young, have flown to Marbella to join the cast of chronically poor reality TV show
The Only Way Is Essex. The Premier League stars are set to take up supporting roles in the somehow
BAFTA-winning series, along [.

England are playing today, apparently, although you wouldn't necessarily know this from a trip
to Gander Green Lane this afternoon. The intuitive thing to think would be that the pull of sitting
(or, on an afternoon like this, more likely standing) in a pub watching England play out their
match against Wales would might have had a calamitous effect on non-league attendances this
afternoon, but this is certainly not the case at Sutton today.
Last week, our correspondent, who chooses to remain anonymous, visited Tottenham
Hotspur's training ground based in Chigwell, Essex, to investigate...
It's a brisk Tuesday morning at the entrance to Chigwell. All is silent at eight-thirty, but by
nine the black iron-clad gates that guard the place are awoken.

Steven Pienaar arrived at Tottenham's training ground in Essex earlier today to complete a
£2.5m move from Everton (slighly below the Toffees' asking price). Ya boo sucks, Chelsea.
The 28-year-old midfielder only needs to pass a medical before he signs what is reported to be a
four-year contract.

David Beckham waves to fans and the media (there was more of the latter) as he leaves Tottenham
Hotspur's training ground in Essex. Becks had a medical this morning, and was given the green light
to train – not play – with Spurs over the next four weeks.
