The championship favorites take on the ultimate Cinderella story as No. 1 ranked North Carolina
faces Charlotte in the NCAA Men's College Cup Final today in Hoover, Alabama (4pm, ESPNU).
The Tar Heels entered the tournament as favorites, and showed their quality in beating a tough
UCLA side in penalties in the semifinal.

As the ACC Tournament gets into full swing tonight at campus sites up and down the East Coast,
all signs point to a rematch of last year's final between top-seeded North Carolina and No. 2
Maryland.
That's not to say other schools won't make a push as they look to secure postseason berths.

This weekend's game of the week in college soccer could quite possible be the game of the year
as two title contenders clash in Chapel Hill.
Newly minted No. 1 Maryland and No. 5 North Carolina have been the two leading contenders in the
chase for the ACC title and Friday's clash (5:30 p.
Perhaps No. 2 ranked North Carolina was looking ahead to Friday's showdown against No. 3 ranked
Maryland heading into Monday night's visit to tiny Davidson College. Whether it was distraction, or
just a special team effort by an underdog, the Wildcats took full advantage to knock out one of the
country's top teams.
U.S. Soccer referee Mark Geiger and assistant referee Sean Hurd have been selected to officiate
the final of the FIFA Under-20 World Cup between Brazil and Portugal in Bogota, Colombia.
The match will be broadcast live on ESPNU and ESPN3.com on Saturday, August 20, at 7 p.m. ET.
The American referees, along with Canada's Joe Fletcher, have also been on the referee crew for a
Group E match between Brazil and Austria, a Group B match featuring Uruguay and Cameroon and a
Round of 16 game between Spain and Korea Republic.
The United States plays Mexico on ESPN2 and Univision at 9pm. Germany - Brazil is on ESPN Deportes
at 2:30pm. The England - Holland friendly has been postponed. Fox Soccer has Valerenga - Liverpool
at 3pm. Under-20 World Cup on ESPNU: Spain - Korea at 6pm and Brazil - Saudi Arabia at 9pm. All

Spain's remarkable run of success recently might carry over into another tournament with Julen
Lopetegui's side looking like a serious contender to capture the FIFA U-20 World Cup after blitzing
through the group stage in dominating fashion.
Under-20 World Cup on ESPNU: Argentina - Egypt at 6pm and Cameroon - Mexico at 9pm ET.
Saturday Fox Soccer has Liverpool - Valencia at 12:30pm. ESPN has the Barcelona - Club America
friendly at 4pm. Ligue 1 on Fox Soccer: PSG - Lorient at 3pm. Championship on Fox Soccer Plus has

AURORA, Colo. (July 12, 2011) – Adding to the excitement of the 2010-11 Elite Clubs National
League (ECNL) National Championship, ESPNU and ESPN3 will carry a live broadcast of the U-17
national championship game on Sat., July 16, with coverage beginning at 2 p.m. ET/noon MT from the
Aurora Sports Complex in Aurora, Colo.
The game between Pateadores and FC Dallas kicks off at 10 a.m. on ESPNU.
Despite the team using the name of Orange County's Pateadores youth team, South Bay Force
President Greg Yorke said 12 of the 14 players on the roster are from the Force.
South Bay players on the roster include Kevin Alva (Banning), Max Baumann (Mira Costa), Pedro
Lugo (Carson), Graeme Mathers (South Torrance), Jack McCracken (Mira Costa), Jefrey Payeras
(Animo), Jose Rivera (Torrance), Daniel Theobold (Animo), Jose Villareal (Leuzinger), Yorke
said.

first-time participants in Finals Week will face FC Dallas for the title July 15 at 12 p.
Substitutes Maxxwell Bauman and Roberto Escudero scored
crucial goals in the 89th and 90th minutes Wednesday as California's Pateadores beat New Jersey's
Players Development Academy 4-2 to claim a spot in Friday's Under-17/18 final at the U.S. Soccer
Development Academy Finals Week in Milwaukee.
For the next eight days, some of the country's top boys soccer teams will be playing in
Milwaukee.
The U.S. Soccer Development Academy Finals Week kicks off Saturday with the eight Under-17/18
sides in action at Marquette's Valley Fields, Uihlein Soccer Park and Milwaukee Marquette High
School.
The countdown is on as teams file into Milwaukee, Wis., ahead of the first day of 2011 Development
Academy Finals Week. The event features the top 16 Academy teams - eight from each age group - and
kicks off Saturday, July 9, and runs through Saturday, July 16.
Each age group is broken down into two groups of four, with teams playing in a round robin group
phase.
Bolivia and Costa Rica each have a chance to pass surpringly disappointing Argentina in their
Copa America group as they battle in their second group game of the tournament. Elsewhere, host
Mexico and powerhouse Germany clash for a spot in the final of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, where the
winner will play a Uruguay side that dispatched Brazil earlier in the day.
If you are a fan of all things Brazilian soccer, then today is your day.
Brazil's women's and men's national teams are both in action today, while the men's Under-17
national team is also playing, meaning you'll have three chances to see some Samba soccer on
display.
The Brazil men kick off their Copa America campaign, while the women look to keep rolling in the
World Cup.
The United States Under-17 national team advanced to the knockout stage of the FIFA Under 17 World
Cup, but its first opponent in the next phase is perhaps the most impressive team from the group
stage, Germany (4 p.m., ESPNU/ESPN3.com/Galavision).
Germany thrashed its Group E opponents by a combined score of 11-1 in three victories and stands
in the United States' way of reaching the quarterfinals.
ESPN has just confirmed that Thursday's game between the U.S. U-17 MNT and Gemrany will be shown
live on ESPNU as well as ESPN3. The game will kick off at 4 p.m. ET, so be sure to set your
DVRs!

With the Gold Cup in the rearview mirror, soccer fans have fewer viewing options in the coming
days, but today there are still some quality MLS matches on the slate, as well as some intriguing
Under-17 World Cup match-ups.
The New York Red Bulls are in Chicago today to take on the Chicago Fire, while the Seattle
Sounders look to keep their recent hot form going against struggling New England.
Saturday The Gold Cup final is on Fox Soccer and Univision: USA – Mexico at 9pm. The U-17 World
Cup is on Galavision and ESPNU: Uruguay – England at 3:45pm and USA – New Zealand at 7pm. ESPN
Deportes has the Colombia – Senegal friendly at 5pm. MLS on TeleFutura: DC – Houston at 6pm.
All Times Eastern Sunday Women's World Cup on ESPN: Germany – Canada at 11:30am.
The USA – Panama game is on Fox Soccer and Univision at 7pm. Univision has the Honduras –
Mexico game at 10pm. The USA U-17's play Uzbekistan in the Under-17 World Cup on ESPNU and
Galavision at 3:45pm. The second-leg of the Santos – Penarol Copa Libertadores final is on Fox
Deportes at 8:30pm.
Well, no one can say that Henry is not taking the MLS seriously. In a fiercely competitive and
entertaining game, Henry was red carded late for forcefully tapping the head of a Portland Timbers
player. I personally did not think that it was a big deal, but I guess you can make the argument
that he should see red for the offense.
The U-17s got off to a flying start on Sunday, routing the Czech Republic 3-0 in their World Cup
opener. Goals came from Alejandro Guido, Esteban Rodriguez, and
Alfred Koroma, respectively. (Captain Marc Pelosi came close,
seeing a great shot from distance go off the crossbar.
Saturday Gold Cup: Honduras - Costa Rica is on Galavision at 5pm followed by Mexico - Guatemala at
8pm on Univision. ESPNU has the Under-17 World Cup game between Congo and Holland at 7pm. All Times
Eastern Sunday Gold Cup: Jamaica - USA on Fox Soccer and Univision at 3pm followed by El Salvador -
Panama at 6pm also on Univision.
