The U.S. U-20 Women's World Cup Team did not train today, but as today was the team's scheduled
practice session at the game field, the squad did a walk-through of Miyagi Stadium, getting its
first look at the massive venue that will host the USA-Germany clash on Aug. 27 (2:50 a.m. ET on
ESPN2 and ESPN3).
The Major League Soccer Combine got underway over the weekend, with college players from around the country meeting in Florida to showcase their wares to coaches, agents, general mangers and more in advance of the upcoming MLS SuperDraft. There are also a handful of foreign players invited to the event.

This U.S. U-20 WNT held its last training together today and now only a good night's sleep and a
few meals remain before the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Final against Germany at Tokyo National

It's has been quite a journey for this young U.S. team, one they have enjoyed tremendously and one
which has seen them grow as people and players across the entire cycle leading into this
tournament.

The U.S. U-20 WNT put on another excellent performance to down Nigeria 2-0 in the semifinal of the
2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. It was the USA's second consecutive victory over a team that had
won its first round group and now a much-anticpated World Cup Final against Germany awaits.
The U.S. Under-20 women's national team will get a chance to make up for its one major blemish
at this year's World Cup on the biggest possible stage.
Goals from Morgan Brian and Keaila Ohai lifted the U.S. U-20s to a 2-0 victory over Nigeria in
the semifinals at National Olympic Stadium in Tokyo Tuesday, putting them in position capture a
third U-20 World Cup title.
The U.S. had its pre-match training today at the Tokyo National Stadium, which will host both
semifinal matches, and it certainly met with their approval. The 48,000-seat venue was built for
the 1964 Summer Olympics and is in remarkably good shape for such an old venue.
The field is in fantastic condition and big crowds are expected for both matches with the bigger of
course filing in to watch the Japan-Germany game at 7:30 p.
As the sun goes down in Tokyo, the USA hits the field for training
The U.S. U-20 WNT arrived in Tokyo on Sept. 1 and hit the training field in the afternoon. The
cooler evening temperatures with a nice breeze were much appreciated by the U.S. team that had been
training and playing in hot, muggy weather this entire trip.
The U.S. U-20 WNT held its final practice today before the quarterfinal clash with North Korea on
Aug. 31 (coverage starts at 6:20 a.m. ET on ESPNU and ESPN3) and it was the hottest day of numerous
hot days the U.S. team has experienced in Japan.
With temps hitting 95 on the field and the heat index climbing to 11o, the players went through
their paces during a short training that did not lack intensity, despite the heat.

FIFA has given the USA its one pre-game in-venue training two days before the game a few times in
this tournament and it was the same here in Saitama so the Americans did a very light session that
was more regeneration than soccer on a beautiful and warm night in this city that sits just
northwest of Tokyo.

The U.S. U-20 WNT learned a harsh lesson about how mistakes can be punished by good teams at a
World Cup, losing 3-0 to Germany in its final Group D game, but fortunately it was not a fatal blow
as the Americans still qualified for the quarterfinal round.
The weekend off for most league competition continues today, as most leagues are off throughout
the weekend with 2014 World Cup qualifying taking place around the globe.
The marquee matchup today for international fans takes place in Glasgow today, as Scotland hosts
Serbia, looking to qualify for their first World Cup since 1998.
Leagues around the world take a back seat to the international game, as World Cup qualifying
resumes.
The marquee match for U.S. soccer fans is the U.S. men's national team's battle against Jamaica
Friday night, where the U.S. can claim sole possession of first place in its qualifying group with
a win.
After two weeks Arsenal are yet to record a win or even score a goal in Premier League play this
season, but they will look to change that today as they face Liverpool.
A re-tooled Liverpool side loaned away striker Adam Carroll before the transfer deadline, while
picking up Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin.
There are some fine college games being broadcast this season, on Fox Soccer as well as ESPN3

The Miyagi prefecture has been much cooler than the USA's stay in Hiroshima -- until today -- when
the heat was turned up and the Americans once again trained in hot, humid and sticky weather.
