Yesterday we learned the rules for this year's expansion draft, where the Philadelphia Union will
select 10 players from the 15 current MLS teams to help to begin their process for building their
roster. The Wizards are allowed to protect 11 players and 3 of the team's 4 international players
will have to be protected.

The Kansas City Wizards 2 Generation Adidas players will be making their way over to South Africa
with the rest of an MLS Generation Adidas team. Roger Espinoza and Chance Myers were both named to
the team that will leave later this month for a 10 day tour of the World Cup hosting country.
Espinoza and Myers will be competing in 3 games against Premier Soccer League reserve teams,
including Ajax Cape Town and Orlando Pirates.

The Swope Park Rangers (the Wizards reserves) defeated the US Under 17 national team tonight out at
the Swope Park training complex 3-0 on goals by Roger Espinoza, Herculez Gomez, and Kevin Souter.
The Rangers dominated their younger opponents for much of the game, but the 17's still did well
throughout, having their moments.

Last week, a handful of Kansas City Wizards players accompanied some kids from local non-profit
Spofford on a shopping spree at a local Dick's Sporting Goods. The children were given $100 by DSG
to spend on items of their choice, and Wizards players Herculez Gomez, Chance Myers, Graham Zusi
and Roger Espinoza joined them to help in the shopping.

Peter Vermes made his first appearance on the sidelines as the Wizards interim coach today as the
Wizards took on the Fire at Community America Ballpark. Unfortunately for Vermes and the Wizards,
the team continued their losing trend, falling 2-0 to the Fire. KC is now winless in 5 in the
league and winless in 10 in all competitions (the PK win over Minnesota is officially a draw).

Birmingham City's hunt for a left back came to an end this afternoon, with the acquisition of
trialist Gregory Vignal, formerly of Liverpool, Rangers, Portsmouth and Southampton. The 28 year
old Frenchman joins the club on a 1 year contract from French side, Lens, and becomes Birmingham's
9th signing of the summer behind Stephen Carr, Lee Bowyer, Roger Johnson, Scott Dann, Christian
Benitez, Giovanny Espinoza and Barry Ferguson.

The Wizards once again defeated Kansas City's PDL team, the Brass today at the Swope Park training
complex 7-1. KC started their first game under Peter Vermes with what could potentially be a
starting lineup against Chicago a week from Sunday.

Roger Espinoza appeared in all of Honduras' games in the Gold Cup recently, but he did not get
himself a spot on the Honduran's World Cup Qualifying roster for the upcoming qualifier against
Costa Rica on August 12th. While some people may be a little surprised since Espinoza has been a
staple at least in camp for most of this round of qualifying, it's not incredibly surprising.

USA and Mexico are set for another showdown in a Gold Cup final. The teams will play one another
Sunday at 2 p.m. CT at Giants Stadium in New York, with the match broadcast live on Fox Soccer
Channel. We will be hosting watch parties at both area 810 Zone locations courtesy of
Budweiser.
The United States defeated Honduras 2-0 last night on the strength of goals from Clarence Goodson
and Kenny Cooper, both set up by Stuart Holden.

in the tournament by a 2-0 score line. The US will now play the winner of Costa Rica-Mexico on
Sunday. For the United States, Jimmy Conrad was out due to his concussion that he suffered in the

Two of the three Wizards playing tonight in the quarterfinals of the Gold Cup in Philadelphia had a
good night tonight, but Wizards captain Jimmy Conrad did not. First, Wizards midfielder, Roger
Espinoza once again got a start of Honduras as they faced off against Canada. Espinoza went 90
minutes as Honduras knocked off the Canadians 1-0.

Ecuadorians within their ranks. Birmingham's recent signings of Christian Benitez and Giovanny
Espinoza have struck keen interest amongst blues supporters.

The Wizards seemed to play a better game this past Saturday against New England than last week's
home loss against Houston but still cannot seem to find the back of the net; luckily neither could
New England.
To make a long story short (since I'm traveling for work) the Wizards again seemed to dominate

The Wizards couldn't score last night in their game against the Revolution, but two Wizards players
did score last night. Davy Arnaud scored the United States' first goal in their 2-2 draw with
Haiti, receiving a pass from Stuart Holden that Arnaud put away to the Haitian goalkeeper's near
post. Roger Espinoza also scored, scoring the second goal of the night for Honduras in their 4-0
win over Grenada.

Sorry folks for the late post, it's been a long day here at Gillette--in a great way. Though we
only earned a single road point against the Revs, the U.S. came from behind to tie Haiti and win
the group with Davy Arnaud scoring his first international goal. Then, Honduras won 4-0 over
Grenada to advance to face Canada with Roger Espinoza scoring the 2nd goal and winning the Miller
Lite Man of the Match award by media vote.
