A new year means that it's time to reset and look towards the future. With that said, here are my wants and wishes for 2017.

1. Silverware - Always the number one priority, winning trophies, painting the wall. Kansas City has made a habit of winning trophies over the last few years, hopefully KC's teams can return to that in 2017.

On New Year's Eve, before we ring in the New Year, here's a look back at my 2016 wants and wishes and how each one turned out.

1. Silverware - I'm not counting the Swope Park Rangers' Western Conference championship unfortunately (more on that later), so this wasn't a wish that was met this year by any of KC's four teams.

The early parts of the offseason saw Sporting Kansas City make headlines for their additions. The past few days have seen them in the news for their subtractions.

Sporting KC made a pair of surprising moves in the past four days, first transferring talented striker Krisztian Nemeth to Al-Gharafa in Qatar on Friday and then loaning out promising teenage centerback Erik Palmer-Brown to FC Porto on Monday for all of 2016.

2016 Wants and Wishes

The new year has started and with the new year come new wants and wishes for the year. With that in mind here are my wants and wishes for 2016.

1. Silverware - Always the main goal, more trophies, more painting the wall for Sporting Kansas City. In the past two years all three professional soccer teams in KC have won at least one trophy, fans have been a little spoiled lately, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't want more of them.

Fiorentina in on Palmer-Brown Chase?

For well over a year now we've been hearing rumors about teenage center back, Erik Palmer-Brown moving to Juventus in the Italian league. It's become a topic of discussion on a certain Italian writers page every three months or so, without anything new really ever being added to the conversation. With Palmer-Brown having turned 18 now though the restricts that had kept him from moving abroad when he was still a minor are gone and the length of his stay in KC is certainly something that can be questioned.

Sporting's Protected and Exposed List for the Expansion Draft

With all the changes that Sporting KC has made near the end of the season there wasn't a lot of flexibility with who the team would choose to protect in this year's expansion draft. After the automatic protection of Kevin Ellis, Jon Kempin, Mikey Lopez, and Erik Palmer-Brown, there aren't a lot of players left on KC's roster to choose from.

Palmer-Brown/Juventus Move Close? And Why I'm Skeptical

Alfredo Pedulla, a journalist in Italy posted earlier today that a move by Italian giants, Juventus for Sporting KC defender, Erik Palmer-Brown was close. He explained that the club has reached a deal with Sporting and it's just a matter of negotiating with MLS to secure the deal. The deal would not go through until the 2015 summer transfer window, because Palmer-Brown does not turn 18 until April of 2015 and does not hold a EU passport.

It Wasn't Pretty but Sporting Gets the Job Done

It wasn't the prettiest games tonight in Houston, but it was arguably one of the guttiest performances of the season by Sporting KC. Already playing with a depleted lineup, KC started the game with their eighth different starting center back partnership against the Houston Dynamo. Then proceeded to have a midfielder go down hurt, lose another player to a red card, and lose two more players to injuries that led KC to use all three subs before the second half had even began.

Match Day 15: Just Get to the Break Without Another Injury

Down the Byline at related • 0 views
It's been a less than ideal run up to the World Cup break for Sporting KC. Heading into the final game before the World Cup break, KC is on a five game winless run. Not only that but they've been doing it while having to put the back line together with duck tape losing not just Matt Besler to the US team, but already being without Ike Opara, and losing Aurelien Collin and Chance Myers to injury, Oriol Rosell to an injury and eventually a transfer, Lawrence Olum to a call up, and Erik Palmer-Brown for a game due to a red card.

Sporting Fall Again, Now Winless in Five

The winless run has hit five games. It's not the team's longest run without a win since they went 10 without a win at the beginning of the 2011 season. This time it was a 1-0 loss to DC United on a goal by Fabian Espindola.

Things started out extremely poorly for Sporting as in just the 9th minute, Aurelien Collin pulled up lame after winning the ball off of Espindola.

There may finally be an end in sight to the current center back crisis for Kansas City. Even though Sporting added another name to the long list of center back injuries, Aurelien Collin was back in training today with an eye towards playing tomorrow against the New York Red Bulls. Collin's return along with Erik Palmer-Brown's return from red card suspension actually gives them two available center backs, which they haven't had since the loss to Philadelphia.

With the roster moves today by Kansas City, the list of former players looks set to grow this offseason. I think a couple of the players that didn't have their options picked up will find their way back onto an MLS team come 2017, but for the majority of them, I think the lower leagues in the US or potentially abroad is the place where most of them will end up if they want to continue to play.
