All the talk was about the thrilling 3-3 draw between Chelsea and Manchester United. The Red
Devils' powers of recovery were once again apparent when they had looked down and out following a
four-minute blitz by Chelsea.
Everyone remarked that only Manchester United is capable of coming back and clinching a draw from
the jaws of defeat.
The statistics this morning read; Manchester United joint top but still second in the table due to
an inferior goal difference compared to that of Manchester City. Our neighbours lost thanks to

What with Liverpool set for their first visit to 'Anfield South' in 16 years by way of their
Carling Cup semi-final win over Manchester City last night, we though we'd revisit the last time
the club earned themselves a day out at Wembley, i.e, the 1996 FA Cup Final against Manchester
United.
When Eric Cantona of Manchester United did his amazing Kung-fu kick on an obnoxious Crystal Palace
supporter seventeen years ago this month, I was there. By chance I was also an eye-witness
thirty-five years earlier when United's goalkeeper Harry Gregg spectacularly whacked a spectator
at Luton Town in April, 1960, knocking him to the ground.

When Saturday Comes has a nice article on John O'Shea.

The Mirror reckon that United need a new right-back.
The Evening News says there are no problems over Welbeck's contract negotiations.
FIFA has a good Q&A with Gerard Pique.
Eric Cantona, who has added the offices of poet and thespian to his CV since folding up his
shorts, has reportedly taken steps to acquire the 500 mayoral signatures he needs to stand for
France's presidential vote this year.
However, French newspaper Liberation has subsequently stated that Eric's intention is not to
make it as far as the Elysee Palace (the official residence of the Prez), but to draw attention
to poor quality housing in the country.
Oh, what could have been.
Despite initial reports claiming that Eric Cantona would be seeking the French presidency, the
Manchester United legend has dropped out of the race. The initial announcement was instead a
carefully orchestrated ploy to raise awareness about public housing for France's lower class.
That tickle in your spine yesterday? Those were the cosmic juices from the rumblings that Eric
Cantona is planning to run for the president of France. That's right president.
Now, if everyone planning to run for president in any country were taken seriously, the world
would stop running and outfits like the Huff Post would lead some sort of meaningless society
(redundant).

Mark Hughes is back in the Premier League after agreeing to become the new manager at Queens
Park Rangers.
Hughes signed a deal through the 2013-14 season and replaces the ousted Neil Warnock, who was
let go with the club lingering just a point above the relegation zone.
Mirror: Forget Cantona, here's our Top 5 players who DID go into politics
Former Manchester United star Eric Cantona was set to launch a bid for the French presidency,
according to reports this morning. But it now appears Cantona is simply the frontman for a
publicity stunt to raise awareness for a French charity.
"President Cantona" was originally published at The Republik of
Mancunia.
A few years ago there was a song by the famous British band Motorhead called "The King of
kings"; this song is so apt for the big four of English football in my opinion. Why so? Every club
has a king who is celebrated and revered by the fans and this is somewhat the song that units the
big four. In this post we bow down to the kings of the big four.
With the news that Eric Cantona wants to become the next French president, OTP turned its thoughts
to the UK and potential candidates to become the next Prime Minister. 1. Steve Kean He has proven

the British public have already demonstrated that [.

He's already tried (and sadly failed) to bring about the demise of Western Capitalism by
imploring people to protest the global financial crisis and boycott the banking sector by keeping
all their money in biscuit tins under the bed, but now Eric Cantona has his hirsute,
charismatically dishevelled sights set on total political reform in his native land announcing his
decision to officially run for the French Presidency.
Patrice Evra is one of a select few foreign players who genuinely seems to get what this club is
all about. Whilst Eric Cantona and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will forever be remembered as United
legends, I struggle to think of any player who speaks as eloquently about United as Evra does.
Following back to back defeats in the league before an important win over Manchester City in the
FA Cup, Evra has claimed that because of the history of this club, we never give up.
Le King wants to become Le President Eric Cantona has revealed he wants to become the next

this year's presidential election. He is trying to secure the 500 signatures he needs to run. He
has written to France's [.

with Obama, we need this to happen.

Next summer, Fabio Capello's England will be facing both France and Sweden in the European
Championship group stages, just as they had done 20 years previous.
In the 1992 finals in Sweden, a Graham Taylor-led England side endured a dismal tournament,
losing to the hosts (courtesy of Thomas Brolin's famous goal) after playing out goalless draws with
both Denmark (the eventual winners) and a France side which included Eric Cantona and Jean-Pierre
Papin.
Jordan Henderson is focused on returning Liverpool to Wembley after more than a decade away from
the home of English football.
The Anfield club has not played at the national stadium since losing the 1996 FA Cup final to old
rivals Manchester Unitedcourtesy of Eric Cantona's late goal.
Liverpool has won FA Cups, League Cups and Community Shields in their 15-year Wembley absence, but
all of those successes came at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, also known as the baby-faced assassin, is one of the ultimate legends in
Manchester United folklore. He was snapped up from Molde in 1996, the club he now manages, for a
bargain basement purchase of just £1.5 million.
Did you know it has been 25 years for Sir Alex Ferguson with Manchester United? Fergie became
manager of Manchester United on November 6th, 1986 so last Sunday marked 25 years with the team.
It has been quite a ride for Manchester United in the last quarter century underFerguson's
leadership.
WhenFergusonfirst took over Manchester United in 1986 he had to change the culture from losing
into winning and the playing style from one that was haphazard to one that was more
disciplined.
Michael Vaughan is the England cricket captain, and he was able to Thursday night's function at Old

Vaughan wrote of the lessons learned from the Manchester United manager.
It was a huge honour for me to be in that room, filled with the great players of the last
quarter century and beyond.

Eric Cantona, who was a key figure in bringing Sir Alex Ferguson his first title with Manchester
United in 1993, has talked about his relationship with our manager on the 25th anniversary of him
taking charge of the club.
"I remember my first meeting with Sir Alex when he wanted to sign me from Leeds and in the
first minute I knew that I had to work with the man," said Cantona.

Ravel Morrison was left out of last night's Reserves game and voiced his frustration on Twitter,
hinting he may leave the club at the end of the season.
After saying he couldn't wait for the season to end, Wayne Rooney replied to him, claiming his

In the week that marks Sir Alex Ferguson's 25th year in charge of Manchester United, Alan Hansen
has remarkably claimed that our manager has him to thank for our success.
On the opening day of the 1995/1996 season, the former Liverpool man famously claimed that
