For today's introduction we are going back into the mists of time, when men were men and not
floppy overcooked strings of spaghetti like Busquets, Nani and Pepe.
England were World Champions and Man Utd had recently won the European Cup. For
the younger reader who has grown up in the Sky era, there can be no understanding of the excitement
and national pride that both events stirred.
Considering the fact that Sepp Blatter has been working for FIFA for the best part of 40 years,
it is remarkable just how good he's gotten at annoying football fans, or should I say English
football fans.
Now if any other 75 year old man with a degree in business and economics (and has never played
professional football) walked into your local and started spouting their nonsense opinions about
how issues such as racism in football can be solved with a handshake, I'm sure he would be told to
pipe down and get out with some colourful language thrown in for good measure.
As if not having a derby that grabbed worldwide attention last weekend was enough, English football
fans will face another derby of sorts this coming round. While, it might not generate the hype of
the Manchester Derby, Chelsea versus Arsenal ...

Good news for English football fans in the United States. FOX Soccer has renewed exclusive media

Why do so many English football fans hate their national team?
What do you think of when you read the phrase ‘England fans'? An overweight man from Essex
wearing fake Burberry gear, snarling and looking like he's just returned from a BNP rally? Or
perhaps St George flags flapping from numerous vehicles as people claim an impending World Cup
victory.

Sam Wallace (The Independent): "You go to Stoke, they've got an identity. You
go to Bolton and that club's got an identity. When I watch Serie A you don't feel that so much
about the smaller clubs there."

Reports are circulating that Liverpool are trying to sign Argentine front man Mauro Zarate to
bolster their attacking options.
The Reds spent big in January in acquiring Andy Carroll from Newcastle and Luis Suarez from Ajax
for a combined total of £58m but manager Kenny Dalglish is not ready to rest on his laurels.

Like myself, all English football fans have been let down in recent years by our
regularly under achieving international side. I would like to share my views on why this is the
case, and on why I don't see any reason to expect success in the near future.

It's a subject that occupies many of our waking thoughts. How, when finding ourselves in the
proximity of a handsome young football player, do we attract his attention in a manner that implies
we are deeply attracted to him but not remotely slutty and/or mad?
Well, alright. But we're not slutty.
Nani is a man who has attracted criticism from the footballing world as well as from his own
fans since his move to England, with many perceiving him to be selfish and lacking the skill and
talent that the player himself seems to believe he possesses.
With direct comparisons made to the largely incomparable Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani was never going
to find it easy to win over the United faithful quickly but it would seem that, slowly but surely,
he's doing just that after a solid start to the season that culminated in a stunning curled winner
last night against Stoke.
