Now Craig Foster and the like can ooze over Harry's nice touch, his nice pass - so can I - but come on Australia - how many has there been?

Is the Emperor wearing any clothes?

We all want Harry to do Harry stuff - but Carlos is outperforming him. If you want skill, touch and goals look to Carlos Hernandez.

Letting Arshavin Leave Now Would be Lunacy

I'm not going to pretend that Arshavin has had the best of seasons in an Arsenal shirt this year, but I was still shocked to read this Tweet by The Evening Standard's Chief Football Correspondent, James Olley, earlier today:

Decision made. #Arsenal agree to loan out Arshavin until the end of the season.

So, due to logistical issues, the book launch has been pushed back. Circle your calendars and get ready for... t/b/a. Hopefully. This is my first time "producing" a book, so my rosy and naive expectations have slowly given way to a slightly paranoid and pessimistic perspective. I just may become a Liverpool fan because of it.

Hibs v Aberdeen: Misery on Leith

What times to be a Hibs supporter.

Bottom of the league, a manager who has become a toxic brand, sections of the support ever more alienated from the vision the board have for the club. And sections of the support who are consistently voting with their feet.

A demonstration is planned before today's game with second bottom Aberdeen.

The makers of (mostly) undrinkable beer become FA Cup sponsors

Soccerblog at related • 1 view

The world's oldest football competition will be sponsored for the next three years by the "King of Beers". The competition is to be grandiosely re-branded as the FA Cup with Budweiser.

The FA of course gets some serious business. For the more finicky it's a measure of the beer's quality when the Budweiser ads generate more buzz than the taste.

Since learning that AIK was coming to Portland I have had a great interest in what the other side thinks of this preseason tournament. Stockholm was my home for a little over a year from 2002-2004 (I spent time in other far reaching corners of Sweden like Norrbottens Län).

Kroenke Must Go For the Sake of Arsenal

In May of 2011, a sort of palace coup was engineered at the Emirates with the two remaining substantial shareholdings of Danny Fiszman and Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith going to Stan Kroenke and in effect Kroenke was anointed the new "emperor" of Arsenal Football Club. Except the Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov refused to play ball and increased his holding in the club too!

What else can be said about this debacle. It was yet another must win situation that our team managed not to win. Goalkeeper Frank Rost was probably wishing he was back in Germany (enjoying his retirement), after getting shelled for 3 goals in the 21 opening minutes. Another set piece our team couldn't defend, another classic Tim Ream gaffe and another forward waltzing right through our defenders.

Fourth of July matches are often hidden and buried from our psyche. There is just so much other stuff going on in the average American household. What shouldn't be forgotten is that the Seattle Sounders had more chances in the first 30 and last 15 than the Los Angeles Galaxy did. While the Galaxy controlled the 45 minutes within that period.
