Last time we see all 3 on the pitch at the same time?
Haven't written in a while, therefore this will be more of a short summation on things that have
happened in the past week. No place better to start than with the players.
Emmanuel Frimpong will be out for the rest of the season with a cruciate ligament injury.
"Check that's not Jackie Chan, will you?" after one particularly high challenge in the African
Cup of Nations (ACN) semi-finals. Ah yes. Gary O'Reilly was back on Eurosport. And welcome back
too. However, the most telling comment of any international football tournament is "no goals
against." And that's a quote from Cote D'Ivoire.
Above, you see Zambia's Emmanuel Mayuka celebrating after scoring the game's only goal against
Ghana in the African Nations Cup semi-final yesterday. Asamoah Gyan had missed an 8th minute
penalty kick for Ghana and was removed for a substitute late in the game.Asamoah Gyan was fouled in
the box and took the penalty himself, but Zambia goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene made the save to keep

So, here we stand. Just one game away from finding out who will win the 2012 Africa Cup of
Nations a tournament which stampeded out of the blocks with a thrilling start, but has since turned
into something of a pale imitation of itself with a few drab games starting to crop up as the
stakes get higher.
Odds before the tournament of Zambia making it to the AFCON final probably weren't particularly
high they've never won and have only been to two finals, the last nearly twenty years ago. ELO has
them 56th in the world, but for all intents and purposes, they'll be at least second on the
continent come Sunday after Emmanuel Mayuka's goal against Ghana today, cementing their late
upset.

It's widely expected that Louis Saha will make his Spurs bow this evening as there are injury
doubts concerning Jermain Defoe, Rafael van der Vaart and Emmanuel Adebayor. However, these are
only doubts and as we've seen before this season, these worries have a habit of failing to
materialise.
The Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong spent the whole of last season on the sidelines after
damaging his cruciate ligament in pre-season, but he has come back strongly this year and was sent
on loan to Wolves to give him some extended first-team action. But disaster struck yesterday when
he was stretchered off halfway theough the [.

Young midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong is one of the Premier League's more charismatic chaps, with
his all-action and passionate performances on the pitch endearing him to Wolves' fans ever since he
made his loan move from Arsenal.
Yesterday I watched Ghana-Guinea in the last group matches of the African Cup of Nations. Ghana
went ahead on a goal to die for: Emmanuel Badu, the super talented 21 year old of Udinese, scored a
stunning goal to put Ghana ahead! 23 meter from goal he gave the ball a tip to lift it before
hammering it in mid-air.
We've got to post a quick recap of what we watched this past weekend but first, very briefly,
here are two games today that you could tune in for, in case you're looking for something to watch
this afternoon/evening (depending on your timezone):
African Cup of Nations, C么te d'Ivoire vs Angola (1pmET, Al-Jazeera Sports /
Eurosport International): The group stage of AfCON2012 wraps up over the next couple days.
Back down to Earth for Liverpool, as they travel to the West Midlands to face 19th-place
Wolverhampton. It's a stark contrast from the action of the past week, facing opposition at the
bottom of the table, away from Anfield, and with nothing immediately at stake. And if you've paid
attention to Liverpool at all this season, it's cause for concern, with form against the mid- and
lower-table sides worlds apart from the displays we've seen the last two times out.

A cheeky chappie It was only a week ago that Arsenal and Wolves fans were loving the sight of
Emmanuel Frimpong cutting down Rafael van der Vaart to size by smashing the ball into the
Dutchman's face. Football karma, it appears, does not take long to act. Yesterday, in defending a
corner against Aston Villa, [.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-3 Aston Villa Premier League 21 January 2012
Joining the procession of MLS stars getting in a bit of off-season action in the Premier League,
LA Galaxy striker Robbie Keane returned to the home of his first professional club, only to help
send Wolves to a 3-2 defeat.
It's been a frustrating period for Jermain Defoe whereby he has spent most of his time on the
bench in recent weeks. Despite scoring some valuable goals when he has been on the pitch, the
striker is a firm third in the White Hart Lane pecking order behind Adebayor and VDV.
JD will surely get his chance this weekend however as Adebayor is forced to sit out the game
against his parent club and in his newspaper column, manager Harry Redknapp almost went overboard
in praising his 鈥榖ack up' striker.
The ten point advantage Tottenham currently have over Arsenal in the Premier League would have
been unthinkable just a couple of seasons ago. Although Arsenal fans were calling for Arsene
Wenger's head after a bad start to the season, things seemed to have settled down on that front
with the good run of form they put together following the 2-1 defeat the Gunners suffered at White
Hart Lane.
You know when you've been Frimponged Many Arsenal fans were not particularly happy when their
burgeoning cult hero Emmanuel Frimpong departed to join Wolves on loan. But even the doubters are
probably convinced that the deal was for the greater good after Frimpong took out Spurs star Rafael
Van Der Vaart with this clearance.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is said to be monitoring the situation around Tottenham striker
Jermain Defoe after news emerged that his agent told the club that the striker wants to leave in
this transfer window in order to get more regular starts.
Dalglish is said to be considering a number of players to bolster his attacking options due to Luis
Suarez's suspension and Andy Caroll's prolonged struggle for form.
Yes, you can count on me
Yesterday's round of matches was good wasn't it. Yes, not entirely. Paul Scholes scored in his
"comeback" but we all know what happened in the first game of his comeback and how he contributed
to City scoring their goal. So no, he doesn't quite do a "Henry". An Emmanuel Frimpong led
Wolverhampton Wanderers claimed point at Tottenham and it's dropped points for them (Spers, not
Wolves).
Wolves midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong gave Arsenal a helping hand in their quest for a top
four...

One week into the transfer window, I wish there were more concrete transfer new items to share.
But instead, it's just the same rumors we've been reading for the last few weeks, for the most
part. I'll start with players making exits, or rumored to be making exits.
Vito Mannone is now on loan with Hull, and he played today against Ipswich in an FA Cup win.

I haven't the slightest clue what happened this week. Somehow both Roy Hodgson and Arsene Wenger
simultaneously learned how to be awesome, and the internet figured out how to make them awesome
together. Plus Tomas Rosicky joined in on the fun, and Arsenal brought back the dynamic duo of
Emmanuel & Emmanuel as dancers.
Mike McCarthy wastes no time getting Arsenal loaner Emmanuel Frimpong into the starting XI as
they take on a swooning Chelsea.
That match followed by Arsenal's outing against Fulham later on will set the tone for the second
half of the season's challenge to remain in the top four.
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has pulled off a major transfer coup after securing the signing of
Arsenal youngster Emmanuel Frimpong until the end of the season a move which will help Wolves bulk
up in the middle of the park.
Newcastle have been linked in the last few days with Young Boys striker Emmanuel Mayuka. Emmanuel
Mayuka 21 year-old 5'10鈥 striker at The 21 year-old 5'10鈥 striker says that Newcastle are a

Emmanuel Frimpong has broken into the Arsenal first team squad this season, but his chances have
been limited thanks to the excellent form of Alex Song and the others in a congested Arsenal
midfield. The youngster definitely needs some games under his belt, and the Mirror reports today
that the Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish [.
The Dynamo have acquired an unknown 24-year old defensive midfielder from an unknown team for a
conditional draft pick.
No seriously.
The details came from Jesus Ortiz on Twitter, but that's all we know right now. The player has
apparently not been informed of the trade so that's delaying the press release.

Over the past few seasons there seemed to be a general consensus that the New England Revolution
needed a veteran in the back line to help guide its relatively young defense. Admittedly, I was a
part of that group.
Match report Video and highlights -
There was nothing more important than taking three points last night. A good performance is
always welcome, but winning after playing some way below par is also welcome. Winning after playing
some way below par and very late in the game against a team managed by Alex McLeish, is more
welcome than Johnny Beer and Fred Rum around my house.
That feeling of joy
Another 3 points in the bag that puts us level on points with Chelsea and just 2 points behind
Tottenham, until their match tonight at least. Not the most accomplished of performance you will
ever see from Arsene Wenger's Arsenal side but don't let anyone tell you that we didn't deserve to
get all 3 points from this game.

Aston Villa 1-2 Arsenal - Premier League 21st December 2011
Wiry wingman Marc Albrighton netted the 20,000 goal in Premier League history but it was an
under-par visiting Arsenal side that took home all three points in a tough, tense pre-Christmas
encounter.
Let's start this morning with tonight's game against Aston Villa.
We all know about our injured full back situation (more on that anon) and Djourou's sprangled
groin further complicates things. I would suggest we'll see a start for Ignasi Miquel at left back,
Laurent Koscielny on the right with Vermesackser in the middle.
