It’s Not Quite As Bad As It Seems

Arsenal Station 17 November @ 09:00 AM EST

While the injury to Robin van Persie was disturbing news this past weekend, let's try not to go overboard. Posts on message boards and the like have been raging about how our season is over, etc., etc., etc.... That is hardly the case. Yes, he has been in the form of his life with 8 goals and 7 assists in 15 matches.

Arsenal Station 16 November @ 08:22 AM EST
Our regular Guest Contributor, Ted Harwood, takes a look at Cesc Fabregas' secret weapon, Alex Song, and his emergence this season as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League. Song's form is directly related to Cesc's performances this season of 10 assists in 10 league matches, just one less than the total that led the league last season, as well as his 9 goals in all competitions. Robin van Persie Stretchered Off In Friendly (Video)

Arsenal Station 14 November @ 04:48 PM EST

There it is. The interlull curse strikes again. Did we really think we would come out of this break unscathed? Every thing was going too well. And now a player who is key to our entire club's fortunes looks set to be out for a while and will definitely miss our upcoming match against Chelsea, and for what?

Big 6? More Like “Big 3″

Arsenal Station 13 November @ 08:50 AM EST

So we are just shy of being one-third of the way through the season and we're already at our third (!) interlull. When we return, it will be crunch time with 11 matches in the next 42 days, including Chelsea at home, Liverpool away, the final CL group stage fixtures, and, of course, City away in the Carling Cup quarterfinals.

Arsenal on Cruise Control

Arsenal Station 05 November @ 11:18 PM EST

It was just one of those nights. Kind of like the home wins over Sevilla or Slavia Prague match in 2007. Arsenal came off 3-nil win over Spurs at the weekend, in which they had never really hit 3rd gear, and rode that 3rd gear for much of the Champions League match with AZ Alkmaar on Wednesday evening.

The One-Man Crusade Against Arsenal

Arsenal Station 03 November @ 06:35 AM EST

Yup, you guessed it... Michel Platini, better known as the Antichrist, is once again in the media criticizing Arsenal and Arsene Wenger. It is truly amazing how Platini has turned into a one-man crusade against Arsenal and his fellow countryman. We here at Arsenal Station have not long forgotten his psychologically-disturbed rant last season during which he exhibited the full extent of his obsession and disgust with Arsene Wenger.

SOCCER UPDATED 28 October @ 11:10 PM EST
Goals from Fran Merida, a 19 years old former Barcelona trainee, and Nicklas Bendtner were enough to see off Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium last night. Emiliano Insua's spectacular volley could not change the outcome of the game. Arsene Wenger's crop of talented youngsters sends Liverpool out of English League Cup with a 2-1 scoreline. 4,000 Goals vs Blackburn, Lancashire

Arsenal Station 05 October @ 06:38 AM EST

Okay, it wasn't quite that many... but if the game had gone long enough we might have gotten there eventually. And if we had, Cesc would have probably assisted on 3,990 of them. I would be a vain writer indeed to think that I could come up with some kind of superlative or plaudit that I haven't already read in the hours since the match.

This week saw the annual release of the club's financial reports (The full report may be downloaded here). Thank You, Arsene

Arsenal Station 30 September @ 11:22 PM EST

Today, Arsene Wenger becomes the longest-serving manager in the club's history surpassing the legendary George Allison on his 4,749th day as manager of the Arsenal. It is, then, a suitable occasion for a bit of retrospection and maybe even a bit of sentimentalism and nostalgia as well.

Having started following the club in the late-90s, I have never known an Arsenal side that was not managed by Arsene Wenger.

Pure and Absolute Domination

Arsenal Station 30 September @ 07:59 AM EST

Does anyone really need any commentary on last night's 2-nil victory over Olympiakos? It was just pure, absolute domination for 90 minutes. Olympiakos registered only one true scoring opportunity but Mannone came up trumps when called upon not long after the restart.

As the match was getting into the later stages and it looked like it might be one of those nights when Arsenal just can't get the ball to actually cross the goalline, I was thinking to myself that, if this match finished scoreless, it would've been the most one-sided nil-nil draw I had ever seen.

“The Gooner Review” Reviewed

Arsenal Station 25 September @ 07:30 AM EST

Being an Arsenal blog, and unable to review books like A Cultured Left Foot does so well due to family and university commitments, there is not much in the way of reviewable media. That all changed this week as Arsenal Station received a copy of "The Gooner Review" DVD. I had seen the trailer and was really looking forward to seeing what the filmmakers had done.

DiMatteo Pulls A “Hughes”

Arsenal Station 24 September @ 07:25 AM EST

Roberto DiMatteo is wrong for defending Thomas in much the same way Mark Hughes was wrong. This kind of blind defending of the players on the part of managers does neither the players and managers nor the game itself any good. Following the match, DiMatteo spoke with the BBC and said:

UEFA Steps Up and Kolo Falls Down

Arsenal Station 15 September @ 06:43 AM EST

So what really happened here? Along with their rescinding of Eduardo's two-match ban, UEFA released this brief statement:

The UEFA Appeals Body today accepted the appeal lodged by Arsenal FC against the two-match suspension handed to striker Eduardo.

Following examination of all the evidence, notably the declarations of both the referee and the referees' assessor, as well as the various video footage, it was not established to the panel's satisfaction that the referee had been deceived in taking his decision on the penalty.

Where Did It All Go Wrong For Hull City

EPL Talk 27 April @ 06:00 PM EST

When a team only wins 2 games out of 18, the expectation is that they'll be propping up the Premiership table, already planning for life in the Championship the following season. Thankfully for Hull City, their fantastic start to the season has kept them out of the bottom 3, hanging on by their fingernails to 17th and desperately looking over their shoulder, at the three teams below them and hoping they can struggle to the finish line and not fall away at the last.

Can Southgate Continue His Arsenal Hoodoo?

EPL Talk 22 April @ 06:07 PM EST

Well its one of those strange things that football sometimes conjures up some little nugget that makes you check the facts fully before you really believe its true such as Liverpool never lost when Ian Rush scored until the League Cup final of 1987 against Arsenal. 145 games Liverpool went without losing when Ian Rush scored, a truly remarkable run by any standard.
