Ukraine's Andriy Shevchenko scored a brace to lead his side to a 2-1 victory over Sweden in the
Euro 2012 group stage. It was a great performance by the captain and now puts Ukraine on top of
Group D.
The match started out a bit slow with neither team generating many great chances. Things
remained scoreless heading into the second effort where the match would open up dramatically.
I have the official starting eleven for Sweden for this evening's away game in Helsinki with the
official starting time being 18:15 (Central European Time).
Sweden will appear in the following order:
Isaksson
Lustig, Majstorovic, Mellberg, Olsson
Elm, Källström
Larsson, Elmander, Wilhelmsson
Ibrahimovic
It's the same basic 4-2-3-1 that we have been driving with the entirety of the 2012
campaign.
I didn´t get a chance to see this game because I had to work (some of us have to do that kind
of thing), but I thought I would give it a quick once over so that we can all move on. It was the
second game of the glorious 2011 Cyprus Cup and the final as well.
Bolton sit just the wrong side of the relegation line and their fans are really not up for this
game. After reading almost 20 pages of various Bolton forums, I couldn't find one fan who was
seriously suggesting they could actually win this game.
The have some very thin striking options after Sturridge and Elmander left at the end of last
season, compounded by some defensive injuries and suspensions forcing them into playing Zat Knight.
Week 2 of the Premiership has arrived, although it is no less exciting. This weekend Manchester
City travel to the Reebok, in our first (of many) Northwest derbies of the season. This has been
billed as a top of the table clash, which is technically true as City were the only other club to
win by more than a 1 goal margin, and they also smashed 4 unanswered goals past new promoted
opponents.
Quick Reminder, Real Life A hot start to the season seemed to fall apart when rising playmaker
Stuart Holden was injured and Elmander, who started the season blazing hot, cooled dramatically.
Bolton fell to 14th in the final accounting. Much-ballyhooed summer signing MPet (Martin Petrov)
failed to recapture the form he demonstrated in his first season with Manchester City.
You can't read something about Bolton without hearing about our "homesickness" and a reference
to the dreaded 1 point from 30 stat which I used myself in the Fulham report. I would just like to
note that we have had away wins recently, there were 3 in the FA Cup, all to Premier League
opposition, so clearly we are capable of it.
Arsenal's 2-1 defeat to Bolton this afternoon not only ended any faint hopes that Arsene Wenger
had of winning the title this year, it also means that Arsenal are in real danger for caught for
4th place by Man City.
Where to start about today's game? It was all all too familiar story for Gunners fans this
season.

Here are the important notes from the team news focused mostly on the two-match teams: Bolton - Not
sure how to feel about the supposition that the "weary trio" of MPet, Elmander, and Klasnic will
make way for Sturridge, Mark Davies, and Matty Taylor. Sturridge will have a spot because he's
been awesome and was only out due to being Cup tied.
This match is a bit of a frightening prospect. After a horrorshow start to the season, Everton
are pulling themselves together, and last weekend executed a 5-3 thrashing of Blackpool. Moyes' and
his blue boys will be sailing after that elating result. Bolton however still haven't righted the
ship after a mid-season dip in form.
Gameweek 24 with it double matches went very well, my tips for fantasy premier league performed
admirably, and that's always nice. I even hit the 100 points mark I was after with 113 points.
But it's again time for another gameweek, and let's see if I can succeed as well this week as the
previous.
Vela has a loan offer from Valencia... as first revealed on here back in November.
Carlos Vela will choose between Valencia and Bolton this week, I was told a little while ago
there was another club in for him, possibly Sevilla, and another English club but I am unsure of
the identity of that team.
Well where do you start?, what can you say?. As the final whistle blew on Monday night at the
Emirates and after the initial feelings to what I had just witnessed, my thoughts turned to tonight
and Bolton at home couldn't come at a worse time for Chelsea.
Bolton are flying and you have to hold your hands up and state that some people were surprised when
Owen Coyle left Burnley after what he had achieved half way through the season to go to Bolton.
Bolton boss Owen Coyle has admitted he would not stand in Johan Elamander's way, should he wish to
leave the club in January.
Elmander is Bolton's record-signing after joining the club from Toulouse for around £10 million in
2008, and the 29-year-old has been in magnificent goalscoring form of late – which has seen him
linked heavily with a move to Liverpool.
A 5-1 victory over newly promoted Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon has seen a re-vitalised
Bolton Wanderers soar up the Premier League table to 5th place, level on points with Tottenham
Hotspur and six points behind league leaders Chelsea. But, are Bolton over-performing after
fourteen games into the 2010/11 season?
Newcastle centre-back Fabricio Coloccini has admitted that he fully deserved to
be red-carded for smacking Bolton's John Elmander across the chops during his
side's 5-1 Barclays Premier League defeat at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday, but the perma-permed
defender insists that he did not intentionally try to elbow the Swedish striker.
It looks like Mike Williamson could be the latest Newcastle player to face a suspension. It has
emerged that The FA are to have a look at video evidence of the clash between him and Bolton's
Johann Elmander. Heaven only knows if it was an accidental clash or whther there was any malice in
the challenge, but [.
This is a fixture that always scares me, with good reason really. Bolton haven't even scored a goal
at Goodison Park since 2005. However, the Everton of late has not been particularly ruthless. They
sit 3 places behind us, though that's only a 1 point difference. Everton have made a habit of
drawing, even when they deserve a win, a problem Bolton is not unfamiliar with.
Maddy's Note:The Kop End of BigFourZa is almost in as deep a crisis as the
one in Anfield. But then again to be fair to the chaps, there hasn't been too much to write home
about. Presenting Vignesh, the latest in the long list of our Pool authors come and
gone.
Part 2 of my season preview sees me look at the chances of the mid tablers. If it pans out
anything like last season, these predictions could be all over the shop and separated by just 8
points come May. I'm on a hiding to nothing really ain't I hey?
We continue....
14 Bolton
The Trotters disappointed me last season, I thought Owen Coyle really had something but the
longer the season went on, the worse they got.
GK Robert Green West Ham United, the former England number 1 was in fine form
against Arsenal. He was very unlucky to end up on the losing side, but he is continuing to show the
form that made him England's first choice. West Ham are bottom, but without Green it could be a
whole lot worse.
Will Ivan Klasnic break out and earn a starting job?
Top Scorer: Ivan Klasnic
I struggled with this category. Our shortage of strikers made it so there was no obvious option. In
the end I went with Klasnic for several reasons. He's scored 5 times in preseason, which will build
up his confidence.
Birmingham 2-3 Bolton- FA Cup 2011 Quarterfinal March 12, 2011- St.Andrews, Birmingham Final
score:- Birmingham 2-3 Bolton ( Cameron Jerome, Kevin Philips/ J. Elmander, Kevin Davies pen, Lee)
Lee Chung-Yong strikes a late goal to send Bolton into the semifinals of the FA Cup at the expense
of Bolton Wanderers.
Chelsea: Blues fans must be delighted. Okay, there's an element of risk in paying 50m for a striker
who's done little in the past year, but despite buying yachts, art and world cups, Roman still
seems interested in Chelsea.
Liverpool: Replacing an in form Torres would be almost impossible, but he hasn't been happy for
months and they got 50m for him.
What a game! What a colossal group effort! We won and in dramatic fashion against the second
ranked team in the world! Where do I start this post?
This is one of those few times in life where it feels so good to be wrong. I tipped 2-1 to the
Netherlands before the game started and to be honest after such weak showings against Hungary, San
Marino, and Finland I think I was justified in doing so.
Making his second appearance as a Funny Feeling Friday selection he first appeared in this spot
last season in April, it's Wigan's cheap striker Hugo Rodallega. Rodallega has been outscored by
other budget signings Davies, Elmander, Carroll, and Odemwingie ... Continue reading →
Over the weekend the Mexican Apertura regular season came to an end and two Americans scored in
Europe. First Star: Stuart Holden scored the third goal to give Bolton Wanderers' a 3-0 lead at
Wolverhampton Wanderers, and that turned out to be the winner. Bolton went up within sixty seconds
from and own goal.
