Brazil's wonder kid of the moment, Neymar, turned 20 over the weekend and what
better way to celebrate it than in true carioca style at a club?
THFC1882 welcomes another new guest writer. I've been wanting this guy to write
for the blog for ages and finally he's found the time. Here's Adam Nathan with his preview of

Every Friday seems to be "World Club Cup" Friday here, but believe us... it's purely

Brazil's Japanese consul general and his cute kimono-wearing wife Eiko Obe, during
a "farewell party" at their residences in Sao Paulo on Wednesday.
You know, Miss Monday, we really wouldn't object to you using one of your sick days in the near
future. After all, that's why we offer them to you.
But don't even try rolling them over into 2012 because they're non-transferrable. You either use
them or lose them, so let's make it count.

Soccer Saturday's very own vidiprinter, the one which spews out all the goals and cards from the
day's games as Jeff Stelling and his panel of ill-prepared pundits indulge in cringeworthy in-jokes
and back-slapping, is, like Paul Merson and co.
He was such a great prospect for Italian football, but alas, Davide Santon has
left Inter Milan for Newcastle! The 20-year-old Italian defender signed a five year deal (the fee
has not been disclosed) with the English club yesterday. Players of Davide's age
need to be given as much as playing time as possible, so it makes sense for him to pick first-team
football in England.

This awkward looking back heel penalty (degree of grace -1.75) had the unfortunate effect of
mesmerizing the goalie into thinking Awana was going to moon him when he turned around because his
reactions were that of a man drugged on a cocktail of morphine, percocet, and trazodone topped off
with 30 shots of moonshine.

If you would've bet before the Copa America that neither Argentina or Brazil would make the
final, you likely would have been called delusional.
That will be the case though, as Brazil lost 2-0 on penalty kicks to Paraguay in a quarterfinal
match on Sunday.
Paraguay shocked Brazil in a penalty shootout to advance to the Copa America semifinals today.
In 24 hours both Argentina and Brazil have been knocked out of the Copa America on penalties.
Amazingly, Paraguay is yet to win a game in the tournament, but it will face either Chile or
Venezuela, for the right to reach the Copa America Final.
Defending champions Brazil paid the price for a slew of missed opportunities when they were
eliminated by Paraguay on penalties in the quarter-final stage of Copa America 2011 on Sunday. The
misses continued after a goalless 120 minutes of soccer as Mano Menezes' side was unable to convert
a penalty kick with Elano, Thiago Silva and [.
Mano Menezes has lots to think about including his future as national coach
Argentina found themselves as a team facing Costa Rica after desultory draws against Bolivia and
Colombia. A must win situation against a team with a huge incentive to force a draw.
Brazil also followed suit with draws against Venezuela and Paraguay.

Brazil's second outing in the Copa America sees them go up against Paraguay in the city of
Cordoba. Despite drawing their opening fixture, Mano Menezes has ignored the pressure for change
and has stuck with the side that drew 0-0 with Venezuela.

The Seleccao were unable to find their way around a tough Venezuelan defense. Alexander Pato
spurned a couple of very good chances. Neymar was ineffective down the left and Ganso was
underwhelming in his role as playmaker. Robinho was dire. Mano Menezes brought in veteran Elano
after half time but there was no change in potency.
The Copa America officially kicks off today, and like Neymar's hair, everyone
will be staying up to watch the best in South American football as they fight for the
trophy. Of course, it's normal for the Seleção to be feeling the pressure ahead of their
tournament opener against Venezuela on Sunday, but they're doing it in true Brasileiro
style, with the laid-back swag and Bromance in tow!

This Wednesday, Neymar and his Santos team mates will take on Penarol in the Copa Libertadores
final second leg with a chance to win the competition for the first time in 50 years.
After the tournament has finished, the Santos President has said that clubs will be free to talk to

Brazil coach Mano Menezes has finalized the 22 players that will be heading to Argentina for the

line-up is yet to be confirmed but in Brazil's last training session, Mano Menezes set up his team
with Robinho, Neymar, Fred all up front.
Brazil are unbeaten in 20 games on their own turf (14 wins, 6 draws).

Four South American teams representing four countries will do battle over the next two days in
the opening legs of the Copa Libertadores semifinals.
Brazil's Santos and Paraguay's Cerro Porteno open their tie Wednesday night, while Argentina's
Velez Sarsfield and Uruguay's Penarol do the same on Thursday.
Here we go again! Mano Menezes has finally unveiled his 28-man
Sassy Seleção for friendly matches against Netherlands and Romania on the 4th
and 7th of June (Thank God they left good ol' Felipe Melo out this time!) You know
what this means, don't you?

Mano Menezes has called up 28 players for the friendly internationals versus the Netherlands on
June 4th and Romania 3 days later.
The Brazilians will take on the Dutch in the estádio Pacaembu in São Paulo. The Romania will be
in the city of Goiânia and the estádio Serra Dourada.
Fla fans broke down the gates to get to Ronaldinho when he joined the club. If he doesn't start
to perform, they may do that again.
