All soccer players face highs and lows during their careers, but only a select few have as big of a gap between those highs and lows as Chelsea's Fernando Torres.
In the beginning, Torres's career was nothing short of spectacular.

Chelsea may have just found their form once again as Rafa Benitez's side thrashed Aston Villa 8-0 on Sunday. However, Chris Hughton's side, Norwich City also experienced their series of solid performances in the Premier League, especially at Carrow Road.
As we know yesterday, Romelu Lukaku signed for West Brom on loan for the coming
season and the fact that RDM and Chelsea have sanctioned this one to go through, it leads me to ask
the following question:
Will Chelsea bring in another striker or has RDM set his stall out with
Torres/Sturridge leading the line?
And so the season finally ended. It was a season filled with drama, with more ups and downs for all
clubs than in any previous season. Who would've scripted a more dramatic end to the Premier League
title race? The excitement involved is what makes the Barclays Premier League the best league to
watch.
2012 Fa Cup Final: Chelsea v Liverpool Talking Points - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Chelsea have quite a lot to look forward to in May. The thing undoubtedly at the top of their
list is their 2012 Champions League final showdown with Bayern Munich, but they're also pushing for
a fourth-place Premier League finish (although that may be out of their hands now after losing to
two splendid goals by Cisse on Wendesday night.
It is a known fact that Roman Abramovich goes into panic mode when his Chelsea team stumbles either
in the Premier League or in the Champions League. He has done so in numerous occasions during his
ownership of the Blues. With the inevitable departure of Andre Villas Boas, Roberto Di Matteo was
entrusted with the task of seeing the current Chelsea players through the season.
Torres has had to endure tough times since his transfer to Chelsea. Even if his desire to move was
to win trophies, he obviously had not figured how difficult it would be to firstly, fit into a
world-class team and secondly, to displace Didi Drogba.
The best striker in the Premiership, Fernando Torres had to deal with a trophy-ladened but
ego-filled dressing room.
Fernando Torres at his best, was an absolute terror. Just ask Nemanja Vidic. Or even the whole
Manchester United team for that matter. There is no fluke that El Nino became the fastest Liverpool
player to reach the 50-goal mark. His searing speed, excellent touch and great dribbling skills
made him a Kop hero as soon as he arrived at Anfield.
With world champions Spain firm favourites to retain their European crown, it's probably no
surprise that their record scorer David Villa features heavily in the betting to be Euro 2012′s
leading marksman.
The Barcelona striker is 10/1 to be the tournament's top scorer but will the 30-year-old be in
Vicente del Bosque's squad?
Chelsea striker Fernando Torres left Liverpool in acrimonious circumstances in January, and since
then, the anger towards him seems to have grown exponentially. A month ago, Torres stated that
Liverpool's fans didn't know the 'real story' behind why he left Anfield, but now, El Nino has
finally revealed the truth about his departure.
John Barnes recently argued that Liverpool fans should 'move on' and stop wasting 'negative energy'
on Fernando Torres, but despite the acrimony towards the Spaniard, there are still lots of fans -
myself included - who would love to see El Nino back at Anfield. LFC Legends Ray Houghton and Gary
Gillespie are not so sure though.
Sebastian Coates will be hoping to play some part in tonight's Carling Cup quarter-final against
Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where he could come up against former Liverpool striker Fernando
Torres. The Uruguayan defender has, however, dismissed suggestions that he will have to pay extra
attention to El Nino during the game.
Chelsea striker Fernando Torres left Anfield under a cloud of bitter fan resentment in January, and
since then, the anger and acrimony towards him seems to have grown exponentially. You would think
that El Nino would be the last person Liverpool fans would want to see back at the club, but it
seems that the same fans who burned Torres' shirt would love to see him back at the club.
From El Nino to Nando'h: Why time is running out for Torres
The last time Fernando Torres walked out against England, the glances at him were nervous,
anxious, maybe even scared. Maybe the then-Liverpool striker did not score as Fabio Capello's side
were pasted 2-0 in Seville, but Torres was in his pomp and element, so much the centre of attention
that England fatally took their eyes of David Villa for the opener.
Now and again, I check out the latest compilations on YouTube (If you have one and would like me to
showcase it here get in touch via my contact tab) and this is the latest one I would like to show
you all.
Full credit goes to Feroze for putting it together. Here's Fernando Torres - The return of El Nino!
Just when it seemed Fernando Torres may be coming to the tail-end of his awful slump for Chelsea
since joining from Liverpool last January, a red card against Swansea City marred an otherwise
brilliant performance and again brought criticism from the press.
The subsequent three match ban will have come at the worst time for the Spaniard, just when he
is starting to produce in the last few matches.
This weekend was turning into something special , after watching Arsenal get Venk-yed and
Liverpool being White-washed I knew the United match was going to be something even more special.
Deep inside something was telling me Torres was going to score one or get a defender sent off. But
all this had to wait for another twenty minutes because when I turned on the TV guess what I
saw?
Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has asked his Chelsea team-mates to provide him with faster and
better service as he seeks to finally net some goals for the club. The lost Spaniard has had a
torrid time at Stamford Bridge after his £50million move from Liverpool in January and has netted
just one league goal in [.
Come Back To Liverpool, Fernando!
As I watched Chelsea toiled to a late victory over Norwich City, I just felt sorry for El Nino.
Finally looking sharp in pre-season, this was THE season that Torres resumes his Premiership
goalscoring feats in Chelsea blue.
Three games on and yet no goals from the World Cup winning Spaniard.
I haven't been posting a lot in recent times. But in retrospect, there hasn't been much to be
excited about. Prior to the off-season, immense focus was put on the next destination of Cesc
Fabregas, Scott Parker, Carlton Cole and the likes. Just like the Premiership season that the Red
Devils clinched, the transfer activity has been a damp squib.
It was Liverpool's best season since the start of the Premier League. A season which saw Liverpool
scored the most goals and lost the least games but yet could not win the Premiership title.
But the Reds under Rafa Benitez gave us some wonderful moments with last minute winners and high
scoring games.
Let's be honest here about last night, we were sitting waiting to see what kind of performance
Chelsea would put into the game. The world was watching expecting us to slip up, the media were
hungry for more Chelsea drama and with Copenhagen not having played for 11 weeks, you could imagine
what would of happened if we had!
One of the major concerns about Chelsea these past seasons have been the ageing of their senior
players. Drogba, Lampard and Terry are all above 30 years old. These stalwarts have been the
backbone of the most successful Chelsea side in the club's history.
The rebuilding process have started with the buying spree in January.
Liverpool would have stepped out onto the Stamford Bridge pitch with something to prove today. A
point or two to prove to against the doubters who expected their recent winning streak to come to
an end but also a point to prove to a certain former striker who decided to swap Merseyside for
London.
Yes, supporter groups copy each other, so it isn't surprising to see Chelsea supporters displaying
a banner reminiscent of a Liverpool banner at Sunday's Chelsea-Liverpool match at Stamford Bridge.
After all, Fernando Torres was in a Liverpool kit just last week and now he's in Chelsea blue
facing his old team from the north.
El Nino on his transfer A tired Fernando Torres squeezed in an exclusive interview with Chelsea TV
before heading to bed after completing his £50 million transfer to the west London club. And he
made some pretty thinly-veiled digs at the way Liverpool have regressed in recent seasons and the
lack of Champions League football [.
The 2003-04 season had ground to a halt on Merseyside, as Houllier's Liverpool breathed its last
monotonous, mediocre breath. Unaware that an inspired Spanish successor would lead the club to the
European crown twelve months later, I headed south for the final weekend of the French/Spanish
leagues: Bordeaux V Monaco preceded by Athletic Bilbao V Atletico Madrid.
Yeah, sorry about getting these out last second. Our Magic 8 Ball went all haywire when we asked if
Bob Bradley was the next Egypt coach... So without further big midgets (sorry, ahem... adu... I
mean adieu): El Nino "The Godfather"'s 1. Manchester United 2. Chelsea 3. Manchester City 4.
Arsenal 5.
It's just 17 days away, folks. The hope, the anxiety, the butterflies in your stomach remedied
by six pints and above all the trepidation. Yes, another Premier League season is upon us!
In order to save yourselves the stress and the heartache, I'll just tell you what's going to
happen over the coming months.
Well, I had to find a reason to pull out the old Highlander quote. That said, here's how your

Chelsea are expecting an avalanche of Torres shirts to be sold before El Nino's
imminent debut against former club Liverpool on Sunday, having already sold thousands on his first
day as Chelsea player.
Torres will wear the vacant Number 9 shirt for Chelsea the same number he was famed for at
Anfield.
Firstly, humblest apologies on the scarcity. Exams have been ruining my life for the last two
weeks and are set to ruin them for a week more, but then freedom beckons.
Which means of course, that this post is going to be shorter than aaron lennon because the books
are calling.
