United Mania 04 November @ 03:54 PM EST
DC United begins searching for its sixth head coach in 15 years as head coach Tommy Soehn fell on
his sword yesterday after a second straight season in which DC United did not make the playoffs,
and failed in other domestic and international competitions as well.

A few of you think that we need to stop bullying Luca Toni but we beg to
differ! Zio's worst than Raul The Great at present... and his performance
at the Confeds this year were laughable at best. The circus came to town and left
an acrobat behind!

There I was, all set to blast the entire DC United organization from top to bottom last week, when
shockingly it seemed the entire cosmos came together to give the rambling wreck of RFK an exquisite
chance to accomplish most of its major goals in this rollercoaster season.

Unitedmania's Chris Webb takes a look at D.C. United's harrowing upcoming schedule which will see
the team play 14 matches in 49 days across three different competitions. Fortifying the defense is
step number one.

DC United played few starters and bemoaned schedule congestion and travel. Well, after that
listless tie with Firpo at home last night, it's pretty likely their schedule and travel
possibilities will lighten up considerably over the next few months as the team has almost no
chance to advance in the CONCACAF Champions League after that craptacular performance.

Hopefully, DC United is rested and ready because just like the Tour de France is gearing up for the
all important Alpine stages, DC United is heading for a crush of games that will likely determine
their season. Ah... I love the Tour de France and I am especially glad the MLS schedulers took it

It's the day we've all been waiting for, the day when Norway's hopes of reaching the 2010 World
Cup will be extinguished once and for all. Or will they?
In order to reach a play-off Norway probably need four points from these two internationals, and
with the game away to Macedonia only yielding one that means Drillo's dullards will have to
decimate the Dutch.

Despite the fact DC United has used a variety of goalkeepers and still might not have decided on a
starter for that crucial position, the team has managed to compile one of the best records in the
league, but will Soehn begin to rue his refusal to pick a starter?

It's only a bit of fun The premise for this TV show is so stupid that it is actually genius. It
would never get off the ground in England because a) the players would moan about an invasion of
their privacy; and b) the public outcry and reams of Daily Mail editorials after the first edition

Everybody loves old school Cannavaro and his shoe-tying bitchface! This was a photo taken in
1991 when Canna was still at the Naples football academy. He's obviously come a long way since
then, hairstyle and all.
It is confirmed that Canna will join Juventus again in July. But he doesn't expect a warm
reception from the fans particularly after he "deserted" them three years ago for Royal Madrid.

A lot has been made of DC United scoring 4 goals at the death of three different matches so far
this season. Of course there are both positives and negatives to take from those goals, but more to
the point is what do these goals mean overall and why is DC so often in a position to need them?

After Moreno's masterful performance with those two goals to dispatch Dallas this past Saturday,
when no United player seemed to be able to find the back of the net, I wanted to write a tribute
article about the greatest player ever to wear Black-and-Red. But, then I realized I had already
written it three years ago and it's as accurate now as it was then.

DC United pulled about as remarkable a win as they ever have with that dramatic last minute in NY.
But, while miracle finishes are thrilling and a huge boost for morale, they are actually occur
almost universally during poor seasons overall, and signify a lack of a killer instinct which is
also obviously a concern.

He's back! Last season the Norwegian end of NFN professed major man-love for Raymond Kvisvik,
and here he is, the widest wide-man in the business rides again to end what was an atrocious game
of football on a classy note.Â
To be fair, he looked remarkably svelte by his standards when he came on as a 86th minute
substitute to help Fredrikstad shore up a crafty 1-1 draw on a bad day.

Thinking about DC's start to this season, two things immediately came to mind. How much luck plays
a role in MLS matches and how physically soft this team is playing right now. So, rather than write
another quasi-negative column about the team, let's take a look at how luck has played a role in
more than just a game or two, let's see how much luck actually plays a role in winning the biggest
prize of all, an MLS Cup.

presentaciones.

United puts their undefeated record on the line in a place that has been anything but friendly for
the Black and Red the past few years. But, with DC approaching full health for the first time in
nearly a year and looking to build on their impressive win over Houston, United might just be ready
to reverse their fortunes in Real Salt Lake's shiny new home.

Still smarting from getting two points stolen in LA, DC United now faces a much different challenge
as Eastern conference nemesis Chicago Fire visits RFK. LA was an elegant chess-match compared to
the smashmouth battles the Eastern conference is known for, and DC United and the Fire in
particular seem to always play barely one step removed from a street fight.

The more things change, the more they stay the same as the saying goes. After it struck me to
compare the 2001 DC United team to the 2009 side, I was dumfounded with the similarities between
the two teams and the situations they were in. Let's just hope the results fare a little better
this time around.

DC United appears to have all the classic signs of a team that will surprise and disappoint in
equal amounts, the LA match being a case in point. So, in the spirit of Soehn's desire for people
to just write about the game itself, let's do just that.
