How could the USL outwit, outplay & outlast the MLS in the 2008-09 CONCACAF
Champions League?
The answer is simple!
The level of play in the USL (as an alternative league) is
closer to that of the MLS, than many (in the USSF and MLS) would like to admit
to.

Disappointing...Frustrating, humiliating, horrible, pathetic, atrocious, hideous,
embarrassing...And those are the words I can use in front of my daughter. This was one of the trips
that the supporters group made this year. I almost went along and Saturday afternoon I was really
regretting not going. By the end of the match I was extremely glad I did not go after all.

Week 1# of the Preliminary Round of the CONCACAF Champions League is completed, and there were
some interesting results...
The most important result (to this blog anyway) was the Islanders 1-0 away win
over the MLS'ers Toronto FC.
The 'underdog' (¿?) Islanders were again sub-estimated by the 'superior'
(¿?

MLS Rumors 03 March @ 01:01 PM EST
This guest editorial was written by Jeremy Catskill and in no way should be interpreted to
represent the opinions of the staff and other writers of MLS Rumors. They are solely his alone.
If you can't stand the heat then get out of the kitchen. So the saying goes.
It appears quite a few of you agreed with me that Steve Cohen's unbridled and unrelenting criticism
of MLS at every possible chance on his radio show, World Soccer Daily, was over the top and that it
and smacked of hypocrisy because he kicked off yesterday's show with reference to you all, feeling
the heat.

The following Guest Editorial is from Jeremy Catskill, writer and futbol connoisseur. The opinions
expressed by him in no way reflect all MLSR writers, contributors or editors, they are his alone.
We pass it on because it is MLS related and no doubt some of you feel the same way:
Yesterday I made the mistake of tuning my satellite radio to a show that I long since put in the
trash can.

Either the mighty capitalistic MLS is in denial, or the they behave like a government controlled
media dictatorship like Cuba, Russia and North Korea among others.
Things have never been worse for the MLS. The "Major" label next to "League
Soccer" just doesn't do justice to the quality of the league.

Music Bruce Likes
And on the Seventh Day He Rested
I'm sure you've all seen the news by now if you are like thousands of other Major League Soccer
fans and make du Nord on your daily stop. Bruce is officially going on hiatus, and it could be a
permanent break. In his own words:
"I am definitely going to take a break from du Nord.

Last August I'd written about my frustration with the paper of record in Kansas City, The Star, and
their lack of coverage of the Wizards. When Hillcrest Road responded to my post with information on
who to email about my complaints, I sent emails asking why the lack of coverage and links to other
cities team blogs as proof of how far behind the Star was in covering the team.

Hey ya'll. Today I'm going to go all whiny and emo on you and talk about myself and this blog

Yo vivo en Estados Unidos. Aquí es donde elegí construir una familia y hacer mi vida. Es

Hace cinco años vine con la idea de estudiar y volver a Chile pero como todo en la vida, yo

It seems like it's going to be another slow week for Wizards news. We have the rumors of the
potential trade to fill Scott Sealy's roster spot, as well as waiting on the renderings of the
Wizards stadium to be released. But nothing of any real substance to touch on. But isn't there news
to report on, how serious is Wolff's injury?

So the news now is that Kansas City could be bringing back in former
Wizard, Josh Wolff to try and help cure their scoring woes. Those woes include only scoring 10
goals this season, 1 less then Landon Donovan has himself. They also include a current scoreless
streak of 320 minutes, and been shut out a total of 5 times, which is as many times they've shut
out a team.

MLS Rumors 29 May @ 11:46 AM EST
Over the last 5 days a lot has happened since someone posted a video of an anonymous Columbus Crew
fan hurling racist epithets at an African player for the New England Revolution. We decided that
rather than shy away from the story we'd report everything we could find out about the incident and
any linkage between Crew fans and organized hate groups after someone sent us some artwork for a
band associated with Nazism that had a striking resemblance to a Crew supporter's logo.

It is not often that we post an editorial, we usually only do when it is something we feel strongly
about. Usually on a subject like this we'd stay quiet but because this was posted on one of our
partner sites, we felt need to respond and debunk some of it. If you disagree with our view or
theirs feel free to post in the comments below.

When we first broke this story weeks ago, we did not foresee the overwhelming amount of displeasure
with the prospect of the Seattle MLS club being named something other than the Sounders.

Um, hey. So, slight change in plans to how I'll be handling the project of clocking the real or
imagined revival of the Columbus Crew versus the Colorado Rapids. I received an invitation to cover
the Rapids for The Offside - and (sucker!) I have accepted. The upshot of this is pretty simple.
I'll just [.

Here's to hoping no one either saw or remembered the last post of this sort (posted September 17,

off my chest. There's some searching going on out there of, at very least, intentions. In [...]

The good people at Footballing World have been kind enough to publish a piece by me on Lanús's
recent championship win, going back over what's been an unpredictable twelve months on the pitch in
Argentine football: 'The dream of a first-ever Argentine league title wasn't to be for Tigre. The
newly promoted side from the river [.
