Diego Milito's quadruple known as a 'poker' against Palermo was a rare moment, in fact it was only
the sixth time it's happened in ten years, but with Italy's final friendly before Euro 2012 looming
it focused the eyes on the Azzurri's frontline. The Argentinian's four-step sent him into a comic
book group that features ‘the little plane', Vincenzo Montella, twinkle-toes Christian.
Lecce managed the shock of the round by stunning Inter Milan 1-0, the defeat bringing to an end the
Nerazzurri's six-game winning. Juventus kept their undefeated record intact by defeating highflying
Udinese by two goals to nil in very wet conditions in Turin on Saturday. Alessandro Matri was the
hero on the night as he claimed both strikes.
Ah hell. Not this shit again.
Oh joy. We've reached that special day of days in which insanity and panic trumps all. Well, you
know, perhaps it's money that trumps all. Yeah, it's the cake.
This is January transfer deadline day. A war amongst men. Not really, but you know what I'm
getting at.
With Liverpool set to face Wolves on transfer deadline day, there was always some worry on our
end as to how we'd manage to fit in both match coverage and any last-minute transfer insanity.
Turns out that the club and Kenny Dalglish were fully sympathetic to our concerns, as today the
official site put out a brief statement from Dalglish that under no circumstance will any new
senior players be brought in before midnight in Paris on Tuesday.
Say what you will, but Liverpool needed some female charm last night to help them
get past Manchester City and onward to Cardiff for the Carling Cup Final.
Sassy Soldier Sisterhood that's what we're talking about! Listen, if Liverpool's owner
John Henry hadn't brought Linda Pizzuti to Anfield, that 40th minute penalty
would've been rejected and Craig Bellamy would not have ended up as the
undisputed Man of the Match.

We are now half way through the Serie A season and the main performance of the week 19 weekend was
Roma's 5-1 win over Cesena on Saturday evening. The Luis Enrique project now seems to be taking
shape. Later that night Juventus won away at Atalanta and with that win were crowned winter
champions. Inter Milan now have won eight games in a row in all competitions after beating Lazio
2-1 in.
There are many critics who love bickering about the downward spiral of Italian
football but at least they have the equivalent of a glamorous Oscar
night! Finally, Zlatan Ibrahimovic silenced his entire phone-book of haters last
night and won the title of Serie A's 'Best Player in 2011′ while Edison Cavani's
Udinese were announced 'Best Club'.
Very interesting news emerging from Paris. PSG Coach Carlo Ancelotti is claiming that he has
been offered Chelsea striker Fernando Torres. Of course Chelsea have maintained that Torres is not
for sale so there is a very high likelihood that the deal won't go through.
That said, with notable Chelsea strikers Drogba and Kalou having linked up with their national
side for the African Cup of Nations, Torres has been gifted the perfect opportunity to prove
himself.
"I may look like Herbert Lom but I'm not mad - Torres could be at PSG. Why not?"
When you have been offered millions of euros to play in the transfer market what is not there to
like in your job? PSG driven by bottomless money (well, until the world turns completely to green
sources of energy which won't happen for the next 25 years) is now the black hole of football's
existence.
While Loic Remy may not be available until the end of the season, if you believe PSG's new
manager Carlo Ancelotti, there are a number of options this month in the striking department for
Spurs to consider.
Big spending PSG attract a lot of attention at the moment and when quizzed about possible
targets, Ancelotti gave reporters a list of names that are supposedly being touted around clubs by
their agents.
Serie A returned this weekend after the winter break and there was some cracking action to start
2012. Inter Milan, Siena and Udinese had massive victories. While Lazio, Parma and Cesena all
started 2012 miserably and the fans were thinking if their players were on holidays. Here are the
top five goals 5.
We are only days from the opening of the January transfer window. The rumor mill has already
been spinning out of control over the past few weeks but, of course, as the new year approaches the
links with a Chelsea clearly in need of something special will reach new levels of absurdity.
So, with that being said, why not take the absurdity to new heights ourselves?
Edinson Cavani's agent Claudio Anellucci has confirmed that rumours of the striker's exit from
Napoli are greatly exaggerated. When asked on Radio CRC yesterday about interest from Liverpool and
Chelsea, Anellucci seemed to refute any possibility of a january transfer:"These rumours are
pleasing, but rumours are part of the game and the world of football.
In the last midweek action before the holiday break there was a plethora of goals in Serie A.
Napoli hit six past Genoa, Atalanta hit four against Cesena and Inter Milan also notched four this
time at home to Lecce. AC Milan ended the year as winter champions after Juventus were held 0-0
away at Udinese.
Roma relieved all pressure on their previously under-fire boss Luis Enrique with a Sunday evening
victory at Napoli's San Paolo. Lining-up without regulars Miralem Pjanic, Fernando Gago and Simon
Kjaer, the Giallorossi took the lead after just three minutes. Erik Lamela's cross deflected off
Salvatore Aronica and bounced over the line after striking ‘keeper Morgan De Sanctis' arm: a
freak goal,.
What are the odds there are no English clubs in the Champions League's last eight? Derek
McGovern's Bets of the Day
Following the Champions League draw, it looks like two more teams who play in the best league
in the world will be heading out. Arsenal got the draw they were most afraid of – a two-legged
tie in Europe – while Chelsea must face Manchester City's conquerors Napoli.

Agli "Atleti Azzurri di Italia" l'Atalanta sfiora il colpaccio contro il Napoli, in uno dei due

Atalanta's Argentine import German Denis came back to haunt his former club, but Atalanta didn't
count on Edinson Cavani's heart-stopping Napoli equaliser in the final moments of injury time in
this one. Cavani was crucial in Napoli's mid-week Champions League triumph over Manchester City
scoring a brace.

It was a mixed week for Serie A clubs competing in Europe's top competition. An enthralling
encounter with the world's best side ended in disappointment for AC Milan, while city rivals Inter
did just enough to earn qualification into the knockout stages with a draw in Turkey. But for
calcio fanatics, the highlight of this week's Champions League action came from a 2-1 contest at
the Stadio San.
Napoli president Antonio De Laurentiis has questioned Manchester City's strategy, claiming that
their 2-1 defeat to the Italian side proves that the Citizens only know how to spend large amounts
of money.
A massive investment in the club has allowed owner Sheikh Mansour to place a star-studded squad
at the disposal of manager Roberto Mancini, who has followed last season's FA Cup success by taking
the team five points clear atop the Barclays Premier League table.
There are multiple story lines that could be woven into a discussion on Napoli's win over
Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday. The partenopei, an average club paying average
wages to a relatively small squad, defeated the oil-sheik's wealthy play toys. On a broader level,
the team from the inferior Serie A beat the club from the best league in the world to take second.

Cavani's precise headed goal from a corner.
Edinson Cavani punished Manchester City in the penultimate round of Champions League group stage
games, scoring a double in the Italian side's 2-1 victory. As Bayern Munich sealed the first place
of the group mathematically, now Manchester City must hope that Villarreal (last placed in the
group with zero points) can hold Napoli at bay while Mancini's men try and defeat Bayern Munich.
It was not a good night in Europe for sides of Manchester and both City and United are in real
danger of not qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
City have the harder route to the knockout stages after they lost 2-1 in Napoli. Edinson Cavani
showed why he has drawn so much interest from all the top European clubs as he scored two goals and
was by far the best player on the pitch.
