Ergotelis 2-2 AEK

AEK Archives 01 November @ 02:39 PM EST

So, as is typical with AEK, we blow an early 1-0 lead and end up with a draw (today, the match against PAS, the Cup Final, the match with BATE).

My stream today was poor quality, so I can't comment as much as I could have. But basically what we saw throughout the match was that we had many chances, yet we only scored one of them.

  • So Argentina qualified for the World Cup and Tevez looks confused. Seriously, though, why does The Dona look like he's being pushed around? How dare you! We can almost imagine the amused look on everyone's faces at the press conference after hearing this : "Our victory is going to all Argentineans, except the journalists.

Another draw in Larissa for AEK

AEK Archives 25 May @ 09:06 AM EST

The match against Larissa ended 0-0 yesterday.

A report can be found here.

As the article states the draw means little for us. Either way, we can still qualify for Champions League as long as we beat Panathinaikos this Sunday. However, we did not play as well as we should have one week before the biggest game of the playoffs.

Another Big Win Against PAOK

AEK Archives 20 May @ 03:20 PM EST

Yet another big win against our northern rivals, this time with a scoreline of 3-1.

Videos below:

It was a fairly confident win against PAOK this time with goals coming from Djebbour, Blanco, and Scocco. There were some questionable calls from the ref (including a red for PAOK, which I agree with but could have been avoided by PAOK) and some calls not made (including a hand ball from Kafes which wasn't called).

AEK News

AEK Archives 30 April @ 10:30 AM EST

Well, alot has been going on with this secret letter which was released earlier this week regarding the financial status of AEK. There is so much to say that it cannot all be discussed in here, and, unfortunately, there are no links in english that I can find relating to the story.

Basically, Melissanidis will have to take over soon or the team might not make it through this.

Ergotelis-AEK

AEK Archives 25 April @ 09:56 AM EST

The squad has been anounced for tomorrow's game.

As I was hoping earlier last week, Kyrgiakos will not play at this game. Neither will Alexopoulos due to being suspended (along with Scocco and Pelletieri). Since Juanfran is injured, and neither Alexopoulos or Kyrgiakos will be playing it is possible that we might see N'Siambamfumu, our recently aquired French centre back, play!

AEK 0-1 Aris

AEK Archives 12 April @ 03:57 PM EST

The final home game of the regular season ended in disappointment for AEK after they lost 1-0 to Aris, the first time Aris had gotten an away win against AEK since 1989.

Edinho started the match in the end, along side Blanco. Unfortunately, however, neither he nor Blanco could do much to get the ball in the net.

Edinho’s Future at AEK Uncertain

AEK Archives 10 April @ 10:48 AM EST

It looks like Edinho has gotten into yet another argument with AEK manager Dusan Bajevic. He will most likely be fined, and will possibly miss the next match. Bad timing for the Portuguese striker, after Djebbour's injury left the second attacking spot wide open for him.

We will have to wait until Sunday to see who will play along side Blanco, as AEK faces Bajevic's previous team, Aris.

Panthrakikos 1-1 AEK

AEK Archives 05 April @ 02:20 PM EST

An uninspired performance by AEK means that second place is now slipping out of reach for this season.

AEK, who had many of its main players (Kyrgiakos, Kafes, Scocco, Juanfran, Nsaliwa) remain in Athens due to either cards or injury, barely managed to get one point in Komotini today after a rather low class performance by the team.

AEK 3-1 Levadeiakos

AEK Archives 23 March @ 03:39 AM EST
AEK grabbed another thre points this weekend to move into one point within second place in the standings. Goals for AEK came from Djebbour, Blanco (who is now top-scorer), and substitue Edinho. Edinho Called Up to Portugal’s National Team

AEK Archives 11 March @ 09:35 AM EST
The three of us here at AEK Archives each have clear squad favorites.  Some are shared and some are individual.  All three of us certainly count Kyrgiakos as a clear favorite.  And why not?  He's a rock, tireless.  He organizes our defense, fights for every ball, bleeds for the club. But many other players are perhaps [. Click to continue reading...

Greek Cup: And We Are Through to the Next Round! (AEK 1-0 Xanthi)

AEK Archives 26 February @ 11:29 AM EST
So, I was wrong when I predicted we likely would not go through to the next round of the Cup.  This is one of the many times in my life that I am happy when I am wrong.  A nice bit of play from the lads gave us our late goal.  Nsaliwa to Edinho to [...] Click to continue reading...

AEK 3-0 Panionios

AEK Archives 28 January @ 10:02 AM EST
An unbelievable performance by AEK led to a convincing 3-0 win over Panionios, giving AEK its third win a row. This is hard to believe, considering that just before last Saturday, AEK had not gotten one back to back win yet this season. One goal from Blanco, one from Edinho, and one from Scocco was enough [. AEK 1-0 PAOK

AEK Archives 11 January @ 05:22 PM EST
The battle of the dikefalos ended with a deserved AEK win today.  Djebbour and Edinho linked up very well, combining well in the 43rd minute for our single goal (Edinho cross, Djebbour header) and threatening on a number of other occasions.  Edinho made some fantastically well-timed runs into the box, but luck was not with [. Levadeiakos 0-0 AEK

AEK's poor away form, as many fans feared, has continued with little improvement. AEK drew away with Levadeiakos who currently sit in 11th position with 13 points. In our first match under newly-apointed manager Dusan Bajevic (who has served as AEK manager twice before, once for a long trophy-laden run in the 90s and once for just two months in 2004), we struggled for a draw away against OFI Crete today. Thrasyvoulos’s Three Goals

AEK Archives 29 October @ 10:18 AM EST
AEK's three first half goals did not go unanswered for long.  It took just 31 minutes of the second half for Thrasyvoulos to pull even.  Yes, it is almost unimaginable that a team of AEK's supposed caliber would concede three goals in half an hour to a team holding onto the bottom of the table [... AEK Roundup: Donis and Kyrgiakos Bite Tongues, Edinho Gets Noticed, Greek Refs Still Crap

AEK Archives 30 September @ 09:07 AM EST
Donis was again happy with his players' performance again Panionios Sunday.  Donis has been very even-tempered during his post-game interviews, careful to praise his players for their hard work.  Indeed, he even refrained from criticizing the officiating, which was dodgy, as is unfortunately typical in the Greek Super Legue.
