Olympique Lyonnais vs. SM Caen
Week 23 – Ligue 1
What an AWESOME start to the year! Six wins, one well fought out draw and a marginal 1-0 loss in
8 matches since January. 8 matches in which Lyon has scored 19 goals.
AS Saint Etienne vs. Olympique Lyonnais
Coupe de la Ligue 2011-12, Round of 16.
It was this cup victory that sparked the rise of the club in the decade gone by. Coupe de la
Ligue is back for another year. Olympique Lyonnais may have moved to bigger, better and eventually
more elusive title challenges lately, but a Ligue cup remains an important opportunity not only for
clubs from lesser tiers to challenge the top teams, but for established teams to try out the depth
of their squads.
Ding ding, the international break is over, it's time to wake up as the Ligue 1 championship
resumes this weekend. All teams will have rested their players -especially those who only have a
few or no internationals- and taken the time at training to work on aspects they don't usually
touch upon, all this in a more relaxed atmosphere.
Ladies and gentlemen, beware today's match is no ordinary game. It's THE match. The game between
an ex-outsider turned new rich and an ex-king turned poor, the highly symbolic encounter between
the two teams who, after 8 matchdays, are the most often tipped for the title.
Coinciding trajectories
PSG -or QSG (Qatar Saint Germain)- had shown their ambitions with a glittering and flashy
recruitment this summer, to the point of becoming the logical favorite for the French
championship.

Of highs and spectacular lows highs!
Stade de Gerland turned into a graveyard for Olympique Marseille this Sunday. The memorable 2-0
loss to OL has brought upon OM a 10 point deficit from 2012-13 Champions League spots in just 6
games!
Champions League Group Stages Match Day 1
On to the most exciting competition of the season! Lyon looks to stamp its authority on the
competition it has truly made its presence felt in. Group Stages are probably the only part of the
Champions League that Lyon look comfortable in, so start off well, Les Gones!
Dijon Mustard is a tricky seasoning. You put the the right dose and it enhances the taste; but
if you put a little too much it ruins the dish. And burns your tongue.
So OL better watch out today as they resume the championship following an international break.
Come on boys, the nap is over! Now that we've made sure to get out of every possible disturbance
like the Coupe de la Ligue and the Coupe de France, could we please move the bottom part of our
back, and fight for the championship title? I'd better tell you : I'm angry.
OK, Nice had their best game of the season last saturday.
Two teams. Two coaches who count on the Coupe de France to salvage their record at the end of
the season. Granted, Nice is in a far worse position than Lyon; but when you're coaching Lyon,
you're expected to win the title, or, at the very least, to be qualified for the Champions
League.
