outlet.

The Webb City school board is being pushed once again to add Girls Soccer to the activities
offered by the school. You may recall in the Summer of 2008 when the School Board said no
Superintendent Ron Lankford said the R-7 Board of Education voted June 10 not to add girls
soccer and golf programs this fall based on his recommendation.
There are many things that differentiate football in the United States – economics, cultural and
sports market, to name just a few. However, one of the more unique factors in the significant role
of college sports in the development of professional athletes. It is no different with football, as

Forget TV rights and stadium deals: this is no time to betray the Hillsborough

The ghosts in the public gallery of the House of Commons will listen intently tomorrow. Their
stories will be told in a scandalously overdue parliamentary debate on the Hillsborough
disaster.
According to pure economics, Manchester United will reclaim the Premiership championship this
season to land a record 20th league title. But does science completely rule or does romance remain
in the beautiful game?
As many of you have already read, club executive Ivan Gazidis recently made quite a few statements
about our financial position and transfer activity. In particular, he made some statements that
most Gunner fans would like to see as a great sign of hope. While he had a lot to say, let me quote
the most important stuff right here:
"We still will be active in this window.

Liverpool have been told they will have to repay £8.2 million of European funding if they do not
go ahead with plans to build a 60,000 capacity stadium at Stanley Park.
Although the club's American owner, John W Henry, has hinted he would prefer to keep Liverpool at
an expanded Anfield, preparatory work has already been carried out at the adjacent Stanley Park
site using money from a European Objective One grant, which will have to be paid back if Liverpool
stay put.
Two things on today's agenda:
Thing No. 1, an explainer on some stadium rakings that caused a stir.
Thing No. 2, A few words about what makes Livestrong Sporting Park such a great place – and it
may not be what you think.
A few folks got their undies in a bunch over my Power Rankings of MLS stadiums (they are at the
bottom of my weekly Five Things to Know about the MLS piece at SI.
My biggest complaint with the economics of football is actually not the level of disparity. It's
how contracts are not honored by the players, and the bigger clubs act like despots in choosing any
player they wish regardless of anything. Take Phil Jones and Manchester United (this from
wikipedia):
- Jones signed a new five-year contract with Blackburn Rovers on 4 May 2010.
A timely reminder from Ozark Technical Community College for all parents and students!
For those students planning to attend OTC or their parents, it is a good idea to keep your
just-completed income tax returns out for a day or two before you file them away.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, is the form students must complete in

RefWatch Arsenal v Wigan Athletic (22/01/2011 15:00) By DogFace Today's RefWatch is dedicated to
Phil Gregory (although Dogface hasn't approved this because we didn't have time to tell him).
Phil writes on economics and does our match previews, and today joins the refereeing clan by taking
his first match.

The Houston Dynamo held a press conference today to introduce four new players to the media.
Houston's two MLS SuperDraft picks, Kofi Sarkodie and Will Bruin were in attendance, along with
Academy signees Josue Soto and Alex Dixon.
Team president Chris Canetti and head coach Dominic Kinnear both made brief comments and
answered questions from the media.
Uber-creep Sepp is back to his old tricks, offering up his weekly soundbite that is both
confusing and probably a little bit offense.
This week's target: economically-challenged housewives. A group that, according to his Seppness,
deserves to be randomly fired under the bus from time to time.

Though Brazil will develop into the decade's epicenter of South American sport thanks to the
2014 World Cup and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro summer olympics, this summer the spotlight will be on
Argentina at Copa América 2011, the continent's prestigious quadrennial international
tournament.
