The first time I saw Gervinho play was in the 2010 world cup for the Ivory Coast. Every time he had the ball, the crowd would go wild because of his amazing ability to get past any man who stood in his way. He has fast footwork like we see from Cristiano Ronaldo and he could actually score goals.
Arsenal right back Bacary Sagna has spent the majority of his career with the Gunners, after signing from Ligue 1 side Auxerre back in 2007. In those 6 years Sagna has managed to make 175 league appearances, scoring just 3 goals. In his first years he competed with Emmanuel Eboue to nail down the Right Back position, however it was quickly seen who the better player was and Sagna soon managed to make a stance and become Arsenal's regular Right Back.
I had to do a double take when I saw this story in the newspaper this morning, then I checked the date to see if it was April Fool's Day, although that does not necessarily the story true. Apparently, the Turkish champions Galatasaray want to sign the Arsenal and Ivory Coast forward Gervinho in the summer, and they are willing to pay £12 million for the privilege.
You can't win the league and the Champions League every year. Five out of the last six of those
isn't bad, with a few other smaller trophies thrown in and the possibility of another Copa del Rey
still to come this season. However, second in the league and a semi-final exit to an inferior team
is being widely regarded as a failure, maybe even a disaster, for Barcelona this season.
Galatasaray wingback Emannuel Eboue has once again borne the brunt of some pretty horrible abuse
from fans during a Turkish League game.
The former Arsenal man suffered some serious abuse from Besiktas fans back in November, and
it's apparent that the club's supporters haven't softened their attitude to the Ivorian star.
Many Arsenal fans were extremely surprised when the Gunners supersub (and cult hero) Emmanuel Eboue
announced that he was moving to Turkey with Galatasary last summer. It was questioned whether this
was a wise move by Wenger considering that Eboue was a very versatile and talented backup for the
Arsenal defence (and how man times [.
The line "I would do anything for love, but I won't do that" comes to mind when listening to
Arsene Wenger in today's post-match press conference.
"I must say we will do anything to keep him. I cannot say much more because I have said that
many times," said the manager, who was adament he would keep Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri last
summer.
Our difficult period of games continues this Saturday with a trip up to Anfield.
Let's try and work out what we can expect.
Arsenal's Recent Performances Against Liverpool
Games between the two teams have been relatively equal in recent years. Liverpool defeated us at
the Emirates earlier this season, but both goals in their 2-0 victory only came after Frimpong had
been sent off.
Reading all these stories coming out the Arsenal Supporters' Trust meeting last night that
Arsene Wenger has a £50millon transfer kitty. That is not really true. Yes Arsenal made around
£50millon profit, but not qualifying for the Champions League will cost the club £45millon,
wiping out the cash balance.

People tended to mock me in previous seasons for complaining about poor refereeing, but I moaned
because I felt the decisions had a decisive impact.
It's one of the reasons the 'seven seasons without a trophy' line doesn't bother me. Go back to the
2008 season: with some better decisions we could easily have won the League and the Champions
League.
After Vito Mannone moved to Hull on loan there was some suggestion that he had made available a
space for non homegrown players to arrive.
Unfortunately this isn't the case. For the 2011/12 season we named five homegrown players over
the age of 21, and 17 (the maximum allowed) non homegrown players.

When Sagna was out injured not too long ago, Arsenal have since been suffering in the right back
position. Bacary Sagna has been an extremely important part to the Arsenal backline, his backup
will also be essential as seen in recent matches where Arsenal look rather vulnerable on the right.
So the question comes, should [.
Emmauel Eboue was a cult hero for the Gooners. Naturally, it was shocking to hear of the news that
he had left the club for Galatasaray. Arsene Wenger was no slouch either, signing Carl Jenkinson in
response to the Ivorian's departure. As the experienced Eboue had proven to be an able deputy to
the fantastic [.
The criticism of Arsène for trying to force square pegs into round holes has frequently been
levelled over recent seasons. Bendtner, Eboue and Arshavin in particular have all been deployed in
areas that would not be their first choice let alone the Championship Managers among us. The reason
for this has generally been a lack of depth in the squad exacerbated by the perennial injury
problems that have depleted us so cruelly at vital times.
After yesterday's debacle, it is time to take a step back and see where we are, how did we get
he and what the future holds. There is no point in analysing yesterday's match, it is certified XXX
in the minds of all Arsenal fans.
We all knew it was not going to be an easy match but the roots of the result go back, probably
two or three seasons ago.

Following Saturday's performance, we were slightly buoyed yesterday to be linked with Arteta,
Kaka and M'Vila. Wenger has also gone on record that we are looking bringing in experience and we
are looking at a couple of buys, this was however qualified with the usual, we are not near
bringing in any players yet.
It's now or never for Wenger. The squad is the weakest since Arsene's reign started that there
is no doubt. Suspensions and injuries are mounting and we have only played three games. Our
squad for today included two players who are outward bound and contained 8 youngsters.
Whilst we could see the potential in both Frimpong and Miguel today, trophies are not won with
potential, but as Wenger told us in May with experience.
Liverpool travel to the Emirates on Saturday to face Arsenal in a 12:45 Premier League kick off,
a ground that has so far not been too kind to the Reds in terms of positive results.
The last visit to Arsenal saw the game end in a 1-1 draw in a match of late drama as Robin Van
Persie put the Gunners ahead in the 98th minute only to see Dirk Kuyt grab a point for the visitors
in the 102nd minute.
Arsenal beat Udinese 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League play-off. Ramsey looked good
in midfield, Gervinho ran his heart out, Vermaelen was solid and Szczesny showed why we do need
another goalkeeper.
The game started well for Arsenal, with Theo given us the lead after four minutes, after that
though it was backs to the wall as Udinese caused us many problems.
With his move to Galatasaray all signed and sealed as of this afternoon, we salute Arsenal's
greatest ever right-back (yep) with a 'Best Of...' compilation album that spans his peerless six
years with the Gunners...
Track 1: 'Champagne Supernova'
Track 2: 'Bend Me, Shape Me, Anyway You Want Me'
Track 3: 'Tiger Feet'
Track 4: 'The Frog Chorus'
Track 5: 'Big Yellow Taxi'
Track 6: 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas'
Track 7: 'I'm In The Mood For Dancing'
Track 8: '(Let Me Be Your Lovin) Teddy Bear'
Track 9: 'Dressed To Kill'
Track 10: 'Lost In Translation'
Track 11: 'Wires'
Even the completion of Eboue's move to Galatasaray was cocked-up, with the Ivorian apparently
touching down in Turkey just as the Gala officials got off the plane at Heathrow to finalize the
deal then again, did anyone really expect it would go completely smoothly?
The team is in Portugal tonight to play our last pre-season warm-up against Benfica. Kick-off is
7:45 UK time, 2:45pm Eastern, 11:45am Pacific. The liveblog will start an hour before the game.
Come on by and give us your thoughts. Liveblog is at the bottom.
Benfica had a strong, strong team two seasons ago, winning the Portuguese league, but that squad
has since been partially dismantled, some in high-profile moves to big European teams:
Fábio Coentrão and Ángel Di María went to Real Madrid, Ramires and David Luiz joined
Chelsea, and Nuno Gomes (Euro 2004, anyone?
Well it was an early start as I had to get my eldest boy, Luke, to the ground for 0930hrs, as he
was due to meet the squad as a thank you for been a ball boy last season........So Reece, my
youngest, and I were at the ground nice and early with little going on, supposedly there was meant
to be more happening, but perhaps the rain stopped that.
Another day of excitement for Arsenal in the transfer market without anything actually
happening!
Mata has been reported to have tied his colours to the Arsenal mast and rejected Harry
Redknapp's overtures, and nobody actually blames him. Spurs have had their one season In the
Champions League, the DVD Box Set has been produced to keep the fans sweet, whilst Arsenal with the
acquisition of players like Mata and keeping van Persie fit will challenge for the title next
season.
I know there are more substantive things to blog about at the moment, but for today, I'll take a
slight detour. We'll be back soon to discuss the transfer comings and goings. I believe the sales
of Eboue and JET are close, there is always Cesc news, and then there are rumors about Cazorla,
Campbell, Jagielka, and Enrique.
When the season came to a close, Arsene stated that we needed a bit more strength and experience
in the squad, in particular in defence. The old sage has since enlightened us with the fact that
he will be busy this summer, this was then refined that most business will be done at the end of
July .
It is being reported today that Arsenal have agreed a £4m fee with the Turkish giants Galatasary
for the 28 year-old defender Emmanuel Eboue, and he is leaving with Arsene Wenger's blessing. We
all knew that Denilson and Bendtner were going to be out the door, but Eboue was thought to be
staying at Arsenal [.
The ever-erratic Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue has reached the great age of 28, but has never
really made a name for himself as a regular in the Gunners first team. He was a near hate-figure
for the Arsenal fans a few seasons ago but has now become like a lovable uncle that cheers up his

Kolo and his brother will soon meet up with fellow academy-ites Kalou, Eboue and Gervinho at the
African Cup of Nations in .
When Gervinho, Salomon Kalou, Emmanuel Eboué and the brothers Touré convene in for the African
Cup of Nations tournament to play for the Ivory Coast, it's a high school reunion of sorts.
Liverpool face Arsenal on Saturday at noon not having beaten the Gunners in seven straight
attempts.
In fact the last time the Reds beat Arsene Wenger's men tasted defeat to Liverpool was in a
Champion's League match in 2008 under Rafa Benitez winning by 4 goals to 2.
Since then, Liverpool have played Arsenal seven times, drawing four and losing three, bad reading
isn't it.

With his contract at the LA Galaxy set to expire at the end of December, it's still unsure
whether or not David Beckham will be playing in MLS for the 2012 season.
After the former England international helped his side to its third MLS Cup (the last coming in
2005), Beckham was quizzed about his well-publicized future in the game.
Adeus Denilson. Ta-da for now (though I am prepared to wager that the ‘for now' part will
become ‘for good').
Denilson's departure reminded me that this summer was as much about clearing out some deadwood
as it was about bringing in some alivewood [find a new word - Ed]. He's the first of the exclusive
gang to go though who is in that gang is subjective and ebbs and flows accordingly.
