It's been a long time since I've posted, but I've got something pretty cool for any fans of the FIFA videogame series. I was able to get a tour of EA Sports in Vancouver, Canada where the FIFA series was developed. Not only that, but I got to talk to the lead gameplay producer of FIFA 12, Aaron McHardy, about the new player-impact engine, precision dribbling, and tactical defending.

So FIFA 12 came out on Tuesday and, unfortunately I've not had enough time to properly sit down with the game and explore every nook and cranny that it offers due to a lethal combination of a full time work schedule, writing about the Portland Timbers, and a couple classes I'm taking an Portland State University to finish up my Geography degree.

This is kind of incredible. Less than 48 hours after release some intrepid Cosmos fan has created a kits-and-all Cosmos team in FIFA12 based on the team that played in the Paul Scholes testimonial. That is dedication to the NYC2 dream folks.
I do wonder though if EA and the team in green missed an opportunity to make the classic Cosmos team as an unlockable team.

While the FIFA franchise has reached an amazing amount of success in the past few years, the FIFA Street videogame series has slowly faded away. After FIFA Street 3, it didn't seem like EA was interested in developing the fourth instalment of the series. Yet now, an awesome Youtube trailer has been put out by the EA Sports France channel, showing off what could be the best FIFA Street game yet:
EA is obviously taking this seriously, and they're ditching the cartoony style which they used for FIFA Street 3.

I've noticed there's been a bit of a confusion/controversy over EA not including all MLS teams in the newest edition of the game. With a line-up that reads like a yoof-orientated reboot of FIFA's 'Council of Wisdom', EA have released a new viral trailer for FIFA 12 into the wild a teaser which sees a hotch-potch of famous faces including Drake, Li'l Wayne, L'il Wayne Rooney, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer (who, worryingly, seems to base his entire coaching know-how on computer games), Kaka, Giampaolo Pazzini (for a split-second) Jack Wilshere (needs subtitles) and the mighty presence that is Scott Sellars all 'living their passion through FIFA'.

Every year, around this time of year or so, EA Sports has been releasing the latest FIFA edition's trailer. The upcoming FIFA 12 looks to have some of the biggest gameplay changes we'll see yet. With additions like precision dribbling and the player impact engine, along with revamped defending and matchday presentation, this looks to be an extraordinary game.
