Herzogenaurach, Germany, 30 January 2012- PUMA, the global Sportslifestyle brand, has launched the

including Sergio...

Edson Buddle dropped a pair of bombs on Dresden on Friday night, netting Ingolstadt's first two
goals as they fought back to defeat visiting 2. Bundesliga newcomers Dynamo.

Während die 1. Bundesliga noch schläft, spielt die 2. Bundesliga mittlerweile schon ihren

The big brains behind the Freakonomics franchise have taught us a couple of important lessons
about life. One is this: sometimes the events in our world can be reduced to simple math.
That's why I'm a bit skittish about the U.S. chances today against France today at Borussia
Park.

You all remember the fantastic compilation video of Landon Donovan's game-winner over Algeria in
the 2010 World Cup that sent the USA to the top of the group and to the second round. Well, the
USA's win over Brazil in the Women's World Cup Quarterfinal in Dresden was as emotional for many
fans across the USA as it was for the players, and the the same guy -- Robby Donoho (props to you,
man) -- who did the Landon video also put this one together for the WNT.

Having gone 2-1 down to a second, offside Marta goal (the first was an incredibly dodgy re-taken
penalty) at the start of extra-time, USWNT veteran Abby Wambach finally pulled her side back from
the brink in dramatic fashion rising at the back stick to nod home Megan Rapinoe's arcing cross in
the 122nd minute of extra-time to take the tie to penalties.
U.S. captain Christie Rampone leads the victory charge
One word: Wow.
Playing almost half the game with 10 players, scoring in the final seconds of overtime and then
winning in penalty kicks againts Brazil in the quaterfinal of the Women's World Cup which just
happens to be in a sold-out stadium in Dresden where the U.

The bus eventually moved, revealing the church, but we didn't get a shot of that. The U.S. team went out to dinner tonight at a local Italian restaurant and had a good meal while
watching the dramatic and exciting England-France semifinal. But before the team hit the
restaurant, the team bus stopped in the main square in Dresden and the team took a photo in front
of the famous and appropriately named Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady).
FIFA allows just one stadium training per team per venue, and as the USA has already played in
Dresden during this Women's World Cup (the 2-0 opening win over North Korea), the team practiced at
the official training site today. It was a gorgeous day in Dresden as the USA ran through just a
one-hour session to prepare for tomorrow's quaterfinal clash with Brazil.
With thirty minutes left to play in Dresden last night, it looked as if the England team was
heading out of the 2011 Womens World Cup. A goal down against New Zealand, having picked up a draw
against Mexico in their opening match, they looked all but out of the competition, but two goals
from Jill Scott and Jess Clarke managed to pull an iron from the fire, and they now go into their
final match against Japan knowing that a draw will definitely see them through to the
quarter-finals and that even should they lose, they could still go through to the quarter-finals
should results elsewhere go their way.
On paper, you would struggle to find two more different teams than USA an North Korea. The United
States roster features thirteen players with World Cup experience. The North Koreans, by contrast,
combine for an average age under 21 and only one player who has made a previous trip to the big
stage.
Pia Sundhage seems inclined to utilize players from the Boston Breakers. And today, as the U.S
picked up a 2-0 victory over Korea DPR to start their World Cup campaign in Dresden, Sundhage's
decision to start Boston Breakers players Lauren Cheney and Rachel Buehler paid off.
The Boston Breaker's Lauen Cheney scored the game-winning goal for the U.
Pressure is a privelege. That's the perspective of our Women's USA squad this World Cup. Ranked
#1 according to FIFA world rankings, the United States Women's National Soccer Team are the team at
the top. We are team to defeat. This, however, is a new era. An era that follows the staunch
legacy of 1999's Michelle Akers, Mia Hamm, and Brandy Chastain when the USA hosted and won the
World Cup claiming World Dominance in women's football.
The USA's 90-minute training session today was held under intermittent sunshine and clouds, but the
squad is looking sharp and extremely anxious to get this tournament underway. The competition
starts tomorrow with two games in Group A and then the tournament will be off and running with
matches on eight straight days.
The U.S. WNT has been in Germany just about a day and half, but has settled in quickly. The travel
from Austria to Germany was smooth and uneventful, until the arrival in Germany, when the players
were greeted by media and organizers and could definitely feel the buzz of the Women's World Cup.
(A bit of which you can see via video on Studio 90).
The 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup finals in Germany begins on Sunday June 26 with Nigeria playing
France in Sinsheim and then Germany playing Canada in Berlin. The United States starts play on
Tuesday the 28th against North Korea in Dresden.
As part of its promotion of the World Cup, ESPN posted this video of Hope Solo up on ESPNW.
Today's activity for the U.S. WNT featured just a closed door training match against Norway, a game
the USA lost 3-1, with Carli Lloyd scoring the USA's lone goal on a beautiful strike from distance
in the 60th minute. The USA controlled most of that first 60 minutes, but Norway was the aggressor
for the last third, scoring in the 64th, 67th and 82nd minutes.
