Why Roma's beautiful losers are losing it with boss Enrique
MirrorFootball has teamed up with some of the blogosphere's best new writers to bring you even
more great football reads every single day. Today it's our Serie A blogger,
footballitaliano.co.uk's Mina Rzouki, with her take on the week's big issues in Italy.
The Prem's early season dream team During this tedious international break, many of us will spend
our weekend without our usual fix of Premier League action and have to watch England be crushed by
the football machine that is Spain. So, during the interruption let's think which players have made
our football-filled weekends a joy [.
Presenting the ideal opportunity to demonstrate whether you have the managerial X-Factor, if you

With Champions League all the talk this week, famed French sports newspaper L'Equipe has published
what it believes to be the all-time European dream team. For us Milan fans, it only reinforces the

To the casual outsider, La Liga exists as a fierce and epic battle between two clubs: Real
Madrid and Barcelona. As if El Classico weren't enough to keep people's attention, last year's race
between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to the top of the scoring list was spectacular.
In the absence of live football during the close-season, the avid football fan is kept
entertained by the bi-annual transfer merry-go-round where rumours of unlikely moves and bargain
buys are rife as each team looks to build on the past season.
This summer has been no exception and certainly hasn't disappointed.

Edwin van der Sar's testimonial evening at the Amsterdam Arena last night was a three-pronged
affair, with the festivities opening with a match between Ajax U13s and Manchester United U13s,
with Poppa van der Sar's son Joe turning out for United.
Secondly, an Ajax '95 side took on Holland '98 with Marc Overmars scoring the only goal of the
game for the Amsterdammers, and a bit of a beaut it was too.
In Edwin Van der Sar's testimonial last night his Dream Team beat Ajax 2-1, with Louis Saha and
Dennis Bergkamp scoring.
Dream Team: Edwin Van Der Sar, Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, Gary Neville, Andre Ooijer, Rio
Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Phillip Cocu, Michael Carrick, Ryan Giggs, Rafael Van Der Vaart, Boudewij
Zenden, Dirk Kuyt, Dennis Bergkamp, Alessandro Del Piero, Wayne Rooney, Louis Saha.

The Spanish League's calendar has been out and we will be travelling to Malaga in the opening
fixture of our title defense on the 21st of August. We will be aiming to win our fourth successive
La Liga title and equal the record of the Cryuff's Dream Team. The first Clasico match which is
going to be held at Camp Nou is scheduled on the 11th of December.
I know I am no Arsenal fan, and actually like any true fan of bitter rival club, I do derive
immense joy from watching the gunners suffer, especially that horror fortnight they had in
Feb/March, to quote the effervescent Barney Stinson,
‘It was Legen.......wait for it........ dary!!

"Mi hermano Gerard será mejor que yo". La predicción es de Sergi López, quizá el juguete roto
de la Masía por excelencia. Sergi era la gran promesa del Barça de los ochenta, Puyol antes de
Puyol. En Can Barça desde los trece años, su carrera crecía en aquel equipo pre Dream Team hasta
que todo saltó por los aires un día de lluvia, cuando fue a entrenarse a un pabellón de
baloncesto y se destrozó la rodilla.

Arsenal.com are currently running an all time dream team vote. The problem with this it is often
only the young who vote and recent memory can skew the result.
We have a wide church here with regard to ages so how about we all pick our all time eleven,
manager, coach, physio and you can even throw in a few squad players.
There are a lot of things I love about The Beautiful Game. One thing in particular I find great
is how short the off-season is. Soccer goes on for ten months which is so gratifying considering,
in contrast, the extended breaks of all American sports. However, two months is still plenty of
time and nothing takes it up quite like the transfer market.
I'm not a big fan of forced narratives in sport. Often they require material facts to be ignored
and result in faulty conclusions. This is possibly an oddity for a
Cule - after all,
Barcelona have built their identity on a strong sense of narrative, casting themselves in the same
role in every story.

Barcelona are synonymous with everything good. As they went to collect their winners' medal,
there was a shot of United's players clapping as if they were resigned to defeat, as if this were
an event of inevitability. Perhaps, it was. Indeed, they were outclassed as many observers had
predicted by a team that are not destined for greatness, for they are already there.
Whichever way the 2011 UEFA Champions League final goes, both of these teams will be remembered
as dynasties.
Manchester United are playing their third Champions League final in four years, an astonishing
testament to consistency and excellence in a competition more often ruled by luck and fate.

Santander.
The city of Catalunya was in festive mood on Friday as Barcelona had an open-top bus
parade commemorating their 21st La Liga crown.

The best team ever?
FC Barcelona won their 21st League title with a 1-1 draw at Levante with a bit of tricky
performance. This was not one of the usual flowing performance by the Barca side, but it was good
enough to complete a rare hat-trick of League title. The last team which did that was the dream
team of Barcelona back in the 90s.
What does race have to do with it? Nothing. The French national teams have seen Polish
immigrants in the great 1958 team, Italian and Spanish in the dream team of the 1980s and the
black-blanc-beur world champion team of 1998. The debate is only about how to put back the
technical aspects in front of the physical ones, point la ligne.
Schalke 04 vice-captain Benedikt Höwedes has confessed that when he plays on the PlayStation
with his team mates, it's usually the person who has Manchester United that wins.
"United are a dream team," he said. "I will really enjoy playing them, but I don't
think we have to hide.
With the resignation of the club's board and supervisory board on Wednesday evening, club icon
Johan Cruyff came one step closer to restructuring his beloved Ajax. The Amsterdam-born Cruyff is
without doubt the Godenzonen's most illustrious player ever, yet the 63-year-old has had precious
little to do with Ajax since leaving the position of head coach in 1988.

On the eve of THE rematch, I wanted to share my experience of living in the beautiful city of
Barcelona. I moved there (permanently in my mind) 3 days after 9/11. I fell in love with the
City, Las Ramblas, the fantastic area of Gracia where we lived, and the relaxed and welcoming
Spanish/ Catalan lifestyle.
While one Brazilian icon exits the soccer stage, a future one took another step toward entering
the limelight after a stellar showing in the CONMEBOL Under-20 championships in Peru.
Neymar scored two goals in the finale on Saturday -- a 6-0 thrashing of Uruguay -- to capture
the tournament's golden boot with nine goals, outlasting his closest competition by five
scores.
This should have been posted last Friday but got lost in the shuffle. What do you think is going on
in Greasano's head as he looks to his left and sees six little cules pose for the Ballon d'Or dream
team of 2010? On the last La Liga Weekly podcast, A New Year And Copa del Rey Beginning there was
some discussion on David Villa not being part of the Barca wolf pack as he was officially.
