Athletic Bilbao-Barcelona
Bilbao had one of the hottest starts of any La Liga squad, but the squad has not proven that
they can consistently score with only eleven goals on the year as a team. Barcelona has a few
guys that are not too far from that total including newly acquired forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Liverpool-Manchester City
A battle of number six and seven squads in the league table in this match. Both have been kind
of disappointments despite their decent rankings and Manchester City has achieved five straight
draws and have struggled to find the back of the net as of late.

If you were betting on Once Caldas of the Colombian Mustang division to be the first suckers to
hire the preeminent Professor of the 4-5-1, grab yourself a boobie prize kid.
Juan Carlos Osorio is a head coach once more. He takes on a squad that is
currently 8th in their table, with 7 wins, 7 draws and 4 ties, accumulating 23 goals for and 14
against in that time frame.

It was a tough October for the stars of Manchester City. The squad that started out the year
with one of the hottest starts of any Premier League squad has slowed down their goal scoring pace
over the last four matches and achieved four straight draws. In only one of the matches did the
Blues even reach double digit goals, but at least it was against one of the tougher defenses this
season in Burnley.

Three more World Cup spots will be sealed on Saturday, and with the tournament held in the same
continent, desperation will be at a maximum as African qualification finishes. Two spots are
already held by the continent's two best teams, as Ghana and the Ivory Coast have both safely
secured a place in the World Cup.

If a third straight World Cup is to be in Portugal's future, Carlos Queiroz's side must get past
Bosnia in the present, and they're going to have to do it without Cristiano Ronaldo.

This has been billed as win or bust by a lot of people especially United fans. Not since the era
of Jose Mourinho's Chelsea (at their peak) have we gone into a match against Chelsea with the
billing of underdogs. And for good reason.
Most fans as is their wont as fans hope their side will come good somehow against Chelsea.

It's Ask the Oppo time again and this week Carl Eldridge talks to Molineux regular Peter Hayes
ahead of the Gunners' trip to Wolves in the Premier League...
CE: Wolves are back on the big stage after such a long and painful period so life in the top
flight must be enjoyable?
PH; Yes it certainly has been a journey supporting the Wolves over the years and yes we are
loving it, it really is the place to be.

Expectation, expectation, expectation.
With a sense of frustration following four games on the spin, the unanimous feeling around the
blogs and forums this week is that tomorrow's game takes on an extra significance. Back at home
(easy to forget three of the four draws were on the road) and against a side who have badly
struggled on their travels so far suggests three points is a given.

2009 was a rough season for Ben Olsen and DC United. (Getty Images)
We knew going into 2009 that the calendar for DC United could be a fairly packed one. Possibly
Champions League matches, US Open Cup title to defend, summer friendlies, and of course the regular
season slate. It turned out to be just the case as DC United played a schedule so packed this year
it definitely raised some eyebrows about how little depth MLS clubs really do have.

Draws are good enough Both Manchester United and Chelsea had to come from behind to secure results
that ensured their progress in the Champions League. United came back from 1-3 down at home to CSKA
Moscow to secure a 3-3 draw. Meanwhile Chelsea went 1-0 down to Atletico Madrid, grabbed two goals
to take the lead but [.

Stephen Ireland has spoken about the recent incident where he was taken to hospital following the
Fulham win:
"Thankfully it wasn't too serious because at the time I thought that was the end of me

And the first leg of the MLS Cup Playoffs tells us...
Not much.
Two one-goal winners. Two one-goal losers. And two games ending in draws. At this point it's
still looking wide open.
This weekend's results:
Seattle 0-0 Houston
RSL 1-0 Columbus
NE 2-1 Chicago
Chivas 2-2 Galaxy

Michael Owen says playing for Manchester United is his priority and he wants to score goals so
we win, not so he gets picked for England.

something people talk about a lot more than I think about really.

Happy Monday to you. It's always good starting a new week when Arsenal won. It's even better
when that happens against Tottenham. After 2 consecutive draws, Arsenal maintains their 100%
winning record at Ashburton Grove with a comprehensive victory against a side who started the week
mouthing off about how great their team are, but has now gone home with their heads firmly between
their legs.

Whilst defeats inevitably brings with it the criticism and analysis a side faces, conversely, can
draws mask the problems that a side has?
Yet another point yesterday, and in the context of the game with the penalty save (more of a miss?)
and wonderful and brave double save at the end of the first half from Shay Given, it can be viewed
as a point gained given that we again avoided what could have been a defeat.

Guidolin has revolutionized Parma, with young Italian players like Paloschi and Galloppa, mixing
with older players that share their experience like Panucci and Zaccardo, Parma has turned into a
team that is ready to shine. With an experienced coach like Francesco Guidolin, Parma look to be a
consistent side that won't die out after a few more games.

All the top European leagues were in action on Saturday, October 31, 2009 including the English
Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and Serie A. In Spain, Real Madrid won while FC
Barcelona conceded a late own goal to get a draw. In England, Arsenal crushed Tottenham while
Liverpool lost again.

Arsenal won midweek in the Carling Cup 2-1 over Liverpool, so Liverpool are out, and Arsenal
advance.
Tomorrow morning is the North London Derby, and it's on ESPN 2 (8:30 a.m. Eastern, I believe).
The consecutive draws, in the two matches before the Carling Cup victory, were a pain, especially
the loss of the 0-2 lead against West Ham in the league.

Manchester United take on Barnsley in the fourth round of the Carling Cup which on paper is one
of the easier draws of the round, given the several Premiership pairings to be played tonight and
tomorrow.
Still, United are no strangers to cup upsets and were even knocked out of the FA Cup by Barnsley
in the 97-98 season.

West Ham 2-2 Arsenal
There are draws that seem like wins, and there are draws that seem like defeats. Today's was
both depending which team you support.
Deeply frustrating if you're an Arsenal fan though. Coming back from two goals up might be a
theme of the weekend, but it doesn't make it any less infuriating, does it?

A common theme I have posted about this season is expectation - where victories become a formality.
This is what can ultimately separate teams who do, and
don't make it to the top four.
Whilst the media focus on defeats (as we have seen with Liverpool recently), too many draws can be
equally damaging in terms of ambition.

The possibilities are endless for tonight's game in terms of where the Galaxy will end up in the
standings.
The Earthquakes will be looking to put a season that initially promised so much behind them.
Personally, I think the biggest mistake was getting rid of Ronnie O'Brien, but whatever.

As I do with most home games against any teams outside the top few teams in the Premier League,
I'd expect victory for Spurs against Stoke. Tony Pulis has done wonders firstly to get his club
into the league and secondly, turning them into a formidable top flight side.
While Stoke are renowned for their home form, they have also been a lot more solid on the road
this season than they were last.

So let me get this right. The so called 'elite' of Europe are aided initially in the first set
of Group selections by being kept apart so that it is as easy as possible for them to get to the
World Cup Finals, and then when they still manage to get pipped to the post so to speak they then
get another helping hand when it comes to the play-off draw.

Before the FA Cup draw for the Fourth (and final) Qualifying Round was announced yesterday I had a
sinking feeling that we were going to draw Eastleigh. Bath City had had two fortunate draws in a
row: Willand Rovers, who play three leagues below City, and Bishop's Cleeve, who play two below. It
seemed unlikely that fate would smile on us for a third time, and with Newport County having been
eliminated by the lowly Paulton Rovers (ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, oh stop it!

This news coming off a bad week for Liverpool Football Club, no bones about it.
