Barcelona Will Never Spend £40m On Liverpool's Javier Mascherano

Anfield Talk 17 November @ 05:28 PM EST
Went past the Mercedes garage yesterday. Big, shiny car in the window, apparently the best model in its class that money can buy. So went inside, and offered a quarter of the asking price, because I reckoned that car wanted to come home with me. Know what happened?
Yep, I was slung out on my ear. Click to continue reading...

Costa Rica-Uruguay: Everything in place

HexagonalBlog 14 November @ 01:28 AM EST
Uruguay's national team is now in Costa Rica, and they've had their one (and only) training session on the artificial surface at Saprissa. (I had thought that FIFA regulations required at least two training sessions on artificial turf, but I could be wrong.) Óscar Washington Tabárez, Uruguay's coach, almost certainly has his starting XI ready, with the only doubt being Walter Gargano. Click to continue reading...

Fabio Capello is a pretty bright chap.

Alcorcon consider themselves champions (of Real Madrid)

Dirty Tackle 11 November @ 08:52 PM EST

Although they lost the away leg of their Copa del Rey fixture against Real Madrid 1-0, third division Alcorcon still completed their shock 4-1 aggregate upset over Spain's most expensive team and advanced to the fifth round (of eight) in the tournament.

For Alcorcon, this was their championship, though, and without a doubt the club's defining moment (it was only founded in 1971).

'sorry? (...) yeah shut the **** up.'

That wasn't really what I was expecting to be honest. Despite notable absences from the Sunderland side, and to a certain extent a lack of bite in our midfield today's game was one that we won't be forgetting for a while. It's safe to say that it was somewhat of an aggressive affair with both sides putting boots where perhaps they shouldn't have been and this incision found its way into the general scheme of play.

Daniel Agger Wants Liverpool To Find Self-Belief Ahead Of Birmingham City Clash

Anfield Talk 06 November @ 12:44 PM EST

Poll: Who Will Win Sunday, Chelsea or Man United?

EPL Talk 06 November @ 09:37 AM EST

Without a doubt, Sunday's game between Chelsea and Manchester United is the biggest of the season between the two clubs who have the best chance to win the Premier League title this season (sorry Arsenal fans). So, it's no wonder that so much importance is being placed on this game. Not that who wins will decide anything, but it will be a massive psychological boost for the winning team and will show which club has what it takes to win the title.

Night of reckoning for Rafa

Premiership Talk Blog 04 November @ 01:05 PM EST

Tonight Rafa Benitez is on the managerial tightrope when his side faces Lyon in the Champions League. Liverpool have to win, if Fiorentina and Lyon win then Liverpool can say goodbye to major silverware this season and Benitez can probably say goodbye to his job.

Benitez's side is decimated by injuries and an awful lot of responsibility is on the shoulders of Fernando Torres tonight if he plays.

Confessions Of A Cabin Crew – United Players So Polite

Scholes: We Want To Win With Style

Republik Of Mancunia 30 October @ 09:05 AM EST

Paul Scholes is happy enough with being second in the table but hopes that sooner rather than later we can go top. Whilst most players would be content with just the three points, Scholes wants to see us win with style and become more fluent than we've been in most of our games so far.

"Without a doubt there's more to come," Scholes said.

Soccer as Preventative Medicine: More Evidence

The Science of Soccer Online 29 October @ 12:16 PM EST
There is little doubt that playing soccer directly affects one's heath. Memory of Baptista Looms Large
