MLS Playoff Results Going According to Plan

The second round of the MLS Cup Playoffs has the two higher seeds in each conference hosting their opponents from last week's match-ups. In the four matches from last week, the home teams either tied or won leaving the seeded favorites with work to do if they hope to advance to the conference finals.

UCCS continues shutout streak

LSU at USF women

Lions get first goal, but can't hang on for the win

The St Leo men's (2-1-0) soccer team lost to the University of West Florida 2-1 Friday night despite scoring the first goal of the match. The Argos (2-0-0), ranked number seventeen in the country, came back to score two second half goals to end the Lions' upset bid.

The 'Summer of Soccer' which began on June 20, rolls on. As of now, over 1,455,000 have attended SuperLiga, the Gold Cup, the World Football Challenge and a variety of club and international friendlies.

The Chicago Fire outplayed UANL Tigres for the better part of 90 minutes on Wednesday night, but could not find the game-winning goal that would have given the Fire the SuperLiga trophy. The SuperLiga final went to penalty kicks, where misses by Mike Banner and Justin Mapp doomed Chicago as Tigres converted four of five penalties to win the 2009 SuperLiga title.

The Sol (11-2-4) can clinch the inaugural WPS regular season title with just a point on the road tonight at FC Gold Pride (3-9-3), a team that hasn't won in eight games and are 0-3 against LA this season.

Gold Pride will play on just three days rest after taking the field Sunday, while the Sol have had a considerably longer opportunity to relax, sustaining a rare 1-0 home loss July 8 to St.

With the idle Sol firmly in control of first-place, Boston moved into second, Saint Louis has third, and Sky Blue FC have the final slot with their win over Chicago. U.S. to face Panama in Gold Cup quarters

A superb strike by Stuart Holden a minute into stoppage time rescued the U.S. Men's National Team from potential embarrassment at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., Saturday night. Holden's stunner gave the U.S. a 2-2 draw with Haiti and first place in Group B.

The USMNT's opponent was not made clear until Sunday night, when Mexico defeated Guadeloupe to win Group C.
