In recent years, the January window's been relatively tame 2007 was maybe the most active, with
Javier Mascherano and Alvaro Arbeloa among the names on the way in, and 2008 saw Martin Skrtel
arrive with Momo Sissoko heading out. But 2009 brought only the exit for the recently arrived but
underwhelming Robbie Keane, and 2010 had only Maxi Rodriguez arriving on a free with Andrea Dossena
and Andriy Voronin leaving Anfield.
Cavani's precise headed goal from a corner.
Edinson Cavani punished Manchester City in the penultimate round of Champions League group stage
games, scoring a double in the Italian side's 2-1 victory. As Bayern Munich sealed the first place
of the group mathematically, now Manchester City must hope that Villarreal (last placed in the
group with zero points) can hold Napoli at bay while Mancini's men try and defeat Bayern Munich.
A pretty disappointing results gained by two Manchester teams in their Champions League campaign
as league leader, Man City, were unsurprisingly beaten by Napoli 2-1 at San Paolo, while Man United
only managed a draw against Benfica at Old Trafford.
The results puts both teams' position in their group in a lot of trouble as there's a solid
chance that the two might not make in through the next round, considering the tough competition
they're facing.
It's only Monday, but already it's almost time for another match. And for a moment it's almost
as though Liverpool were back in Europe once again, the games coming thick and furious and with
hardly a moment to decompress in between them. Then you remember that Liverpool's last bit of
midweek football was a will-sapping friendly at Rangers, and that this week's sees a trip to Stoke
to face a side renowned for its ability to sap the will of opponents and their fans alike.
It was a bright March morning two years ago when Liverpool fans were rising and preparing for the
massive game against Manchester United. The trip to Old Trafford, the pub or even to the armchair
is sometimes a nervy experience before games like this but the excitement and adrenaline always
prevail.
Manchester City is one of the best club in the World. In the last years they have bought amazing
players, such as David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Samir Nasri, Yaya Toure and Edin Dzeko, plus they have
a great manager like Roberto Mancini. However the winning in the match of tomorrow agaist Naples is
not to be taken for granted.
Since Kenny Dalglish took over the managerial hotseat at Anfield there has been great improvements
made on the pitch and off the pitch.
We have bought good players with potential and hunger to win trophies. Many people have said
recently Kenny has paid inflated prices for players in the two transfer windows since he has been
in charge.
Given the confidential nature of player contracts, real transfer fee levels are rarely released
into the public domain. This leads to guesswork and supposition on a grand scale, which leads to
lots of inaccurate figures floating around. Here are the some of the glaring inaccuracies currently
accepted as gospel.
Liverpool moved closer to solving their problem at left-back after agreeing a fee with Newcastle
for defender Jose Enrique.
Liverpool will discuss personal terms with the Spaniard when he arrives on Merseyside for his
medical at their Melwood training ground this afternoon.
Enrique, 25, will cost Liverpool in the region of £6million but will fill a position which they
struggled with last season.
There's not a lot to say in the intro that Noel didn't yesterday we're in time-killing mode,
with little happening between friendlies and the wind-down of the Copa America. Besides learning
that Luis Suarez and Uruguay will face Paraguay in the final on Sunday, the past twenty-four hours
wouldn't have had much to shout about if it weren't for everyone's favorite ginger jackhammer and a
bit of reserves and youth action.
Kenny Dalglish splashes cash but Liverpool spirits rise | Paul Hayward
Liverpool manager has spent a lot of money on players but it is necessary to compete with
Chelsea and Manchester United The Kop lives in mortal fear of the mediocre buy, the non‑Liverpool

When asking supporters the reason behind their teams ‘misfortune' this season, most Liverpool
fans will angrily mutter one man's name, Rafael Benitez. The reaction is one connoting such anger
and distain, anyone overhearing the conversation unaware of who this ‘Benitez' was, would
naturally assume he was either the banker responsible for the recession or the man guilty of
helping to conceive Justin Bieber.
Serie action began once again after the winter break.
Leonardo's debut was an excellent one as Inter beat second placed Napoli in a high voltage
