Three years ago I moved to Yorkshire from East Anglia for work purposes: a move I share with one
very special former Ipswich Town player. Can you figure out who?!Leeds and Ipswich share a lot in their histories: Huge success in the past has brought respect to
both teams but the difficult financial times that followed have seen them slip down the league
tables in recent decades.

The following tables show the number of points earned by teams during 2011.
It's very tight at the top of the Championship table for 2011. Reading have the best points
average yet it's Middlesbrough who picked up more points during the year. Both these sides are
closely followed by Cardiff City who finish the year having picked up 82 points, an identical tally
to Reading.

The last week or so in the Championship have acted as a sudden reminder to anyone who may have
thought that the two automatic promotion places might already have been sewn up. Southampton's
stunning start to the season has seen them ascend to the top of the table with West Ham United,
relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, clinging onto their coat-tails in
second place.
It may only be the 3rd round, but the FA Cup's draw has produced some real crackers.
Sixty-four sides still have the potential to reach Wembley on cup final day, and 32 matches will
be played to see who progresses into the fourth round.
Here are five of the best ties to look out for:
Birmingham v Wolves
This Black Country derby isn't possible in the top flight this year following City's relegation
last season, but the Blues have done well both domestically and on the continent under Chris
Hughton.
The draw for this season's FA Cup 3rd round was made today with Manchester City drawn Manchester
United at hom in what is the draw of the round. There will be only one other all Premier League tie
with Newcastle at home to Blackburn, while non-league Tamworth got a dream tie with Everton at
Goodison Park.

Billy Sharp put the majority of footballers to shame last night!
In a four week period where controversy over Carlos Tevez reportedly refusing to come on as a
substitute has repeatedly stolen the headlines in the footballing world, Doncaster Rovers star
Billy Sharp earned the unconditional respect of football fans across the nation when he turned out
just three days after the premature death of his son.

As D.C. United continues its quest to find a new stadium location, MLS continues its exploration
into whether Baltimore is a viable market for league expansion.
The league sent out a survey to fans in the Baltimore area in an effort to gauge interest in an

Controversial striker El-Hadji Diouf has dropped down to the Championship to join Doncaster Rovers
on a three-month deal. The move is still to be rubber-stamped but the Senegalese player has decided
to sign for Dean Saunders' Yorkshire outfit after being released by Blackburn in the summer. The
two-time African Footballer of the Year is well known in these parts after spells with Liverpool,
Bolton, Sunderland and Rangers and he has, of course, been in his fair share of trouble.
Of all the people that have come to encircle modern football in recent years, few have received
the levels of vituperation that players' agents have. It often feels as if nothing good comes from
their involvement in the game, but this hasn't stopped their influence expanding dramatically in
recent years and it seems more likely than not that this sphere of influence will continue to grow
as contractual matters between players and clubs become more and more complex.

Having apparently missed out on another footballing bad boy in the shape of El Hadji Diouf,
Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders has now snapped up former Spurs defender Pascal Chimbonda.
The 32-year-old Frenchman, a free agent since leaving QPR in April, was part of Les Bleus' squad
at the 2006 World Cup Finals and has also had spells at Wigan, Sunderland and Blackburn.

Football transfer rumours: Arsenal to sign Daniel Parejo?
Today's junk is using reverse psychology As a wise old jobbing American character actor in a
Burt Lancaster film once said, even a hawk is an eagle among crows. And so it is that in these
times of inter-window waffle-scarcity the news that former Liverpool wing mediocrity El Hadji Diouf
is on the verge of a foul-tempered and ultimately short-lived return to football appears to qualify
as a major transfer rumour.

At least, some may choose to reflect, the team is still winning. Wrexham went to Grimsby Town
yesterday and came returned with a comfortable 3-1, which left them at the top of the Blue Square
Premier on goal difference from second placed Gateshead with a quarter of the season now played.
This result was, however, little comfort at the end of another week which has seen tumult behind
the scenes at the club and the departure of a manager who was starting to come of age in his
position.

There will be a sombre mood in the air at The Cardiff City Stadium this afternoon, as the team
takes to the field for its home league match against Doncaster Rovers. The death of Cardiff City
supporter Michael Dye shortly before the start of Tuesday night's European Championship qualifier
between England and Wales cast am obvious pall over the subsequent discussion of that match and
several articles written in the press about Mr Dye since then have reeked of a sadly all too
familiar insensitivity on the part of a section of the British press.
